I live in a rich neighborhood, the cops are always very nice to us.  Most cops are good, there are a few bad ones.  Just like there are in every other type of job.

Blanket attacks are deserved for blanket actions. For some reason you believe that the actions of the good law officers are supposed to act as cover for the actions of the bad LEO's of which we're seeing more and more. So we're supposed to ignore the actions of huge federal bureaucracies, because you still have a working relationship with the local sheriff? The Feds are the guys showing up in tanks with battle armor on. They can raise this show of force to push a rancher off his land, simply to please that corrupt piece of cattle flop, Harry Reid; but they can't protect our borders? And we're supposed to overlook that, because some cops are good guys?

Where did I say they act as cover? I said the MAJORITY are good people.
The problem we're seeing today, is an expansion of a police state, agencies that never had police power, suddenly have an armed force.
Also, there is a bit of distinction to be noted, police chiefs are appointed, Sheriff are elected, which means if his officers screw up, it directly reflects on his leadership.

They weren't "cops" they were "regulators"  most federal agencies are bureacrats who have been empowered by the Federal Govt & tasked with enforcing picyune 'Mala en Prohibitum' laws that make violators out of ordinary folks trying to make a living.

PLEASE do not confuse bureacratic regulators with PEACE OFFICERS....big difference.

I will agree that such persons have become drunk with power have no sense of discretion and are nothing like their forebearers who usually confined thier efforts towards genuine criminals, but they weren't "cops" either.

You spelled Fallujah wrong. Also I come from a very religious family who promoted chivalry. Even if I was given the task of policing the worst neighborhood I will act as an knight in shining armor. I would never use foul language.

Is that the best you can do Sir Knight? Point out I spelt Fallujah wrong? I would also suggest you wear Kevlar Body Armor when you are out there practicing chivalry, the shiny kind will just make it easier for the gang bangers and various hoodlums to target you under the neon

The majority - as in any bureaucracy - are just time servers. Showing up regularly to get a pay check and doing little else. As in most bureaucracies, if you look closely, you'll realize that they have far more people shuffling papers, that they have carrying out the ostensible purpose of that department. Now it may be different in your small local department, but I like most Americans, don't live in a small locality. By the way, "just following orders" didn't keep all those little Hitlers from swinging; so why should it serve as an excuse for ours?
