I'm always amused when people equate leftism/liberalism/whackoism with rebellion.

I think they've got it wrong.

Since I was a former socialist (and a radical one at that) I saw that conservatives are more rebellious than the liberals.

Conservatives want to decrease government intervention, liberals want to increase it
Lower tax rates for every one, libs want to increase it as high as the moon
Cons want people to find work & not rely on foodstamps, libs want them to be indebted to the government in order for them to far votes
Conservatives hold steadfastly to timeless principles whereas the libs want them to change it all

I think the reason why us teens are (in my case, were) attracted to leftism is that the media seems to romanticise it & glorify it. Social justice, rebellion, peace, etc etc. I do think we need to reach out more to the young people like me as nowadays it seems like conservatives are a version of my scolding mum: 'Don't do this, do that'.

I think what we need to do is bring back pride in being a conservative. Pride in hard work, pride in free enterprise. More outreach to the young people & minorities which share a LOT of Republican values.

Oh yes, and maybe kick out those people that say bizarre things about rape or that certain RINO in NJ.

Here's Jindal's take: http://hotair.com/archives/2012/11/13/jindal-end-dumbed-down-conservatism/

Which reminds me of what my prof (a "mild" socialist) said to me when I changed: "Well mate, sometimes we do need to find ourselves. It's great you stand up for your beliefs."

Although I COULD see he's quite upset at this new Right Libertarian.

Why? The evidence is pretty compelling. Will you believe it when it comes here?

Because it seems ironic that they're trying to overthrow a government in place of a more totalitarian one.

That ain't revolution mate, that's just stupidity

Exactly right. I guess you're not in the US, but we have seen similar things unfold here. It's only a matter of time until they reach the point that they have in Greece.

Yeah, Australia hasn't seen that kind of stuff before, maybe way back in the 1900s as we reformed our economy in the 80s, much like the Reaganomics there.

But what I can't seem to understand is why the Ds won't work w/ the Rs & so forth. I mean, you gotta put your country first. It really saddens me to see these people sack workers b/c of a thing such as the Obamacare.

I thought the Demoncrats were for workers.

When democrats say they are for workers, that only means unionized labor. When unions say they are for the workers, that only means workers that are paying them dues.

It creates the illusion that democrats care. But they only care about people that keep them in office.

Another foreigner telling us how things are

He's an Australian teenager. I'm willing to cut him some slack. Plus, I'm glad to see that he's doing his own thinking. If these disasterous policies ever hit his own country, hopefully he'll be able to recognize them.
