There is something very wrong hen they killed an old mans dog, and it sounds quite vindictive.

Hydro man lands in jail over poodle rescue
Edwin Fry, 73, of Hydro, faces charges after springing his poodle from the pound with a lawn tractor and bolt cutters. The dog, Buddy Tough, was euthanized while his owner was in jail.

HYDRO — A Hydro man sprung his poodle from the pound using a lawn tractor and bolt cutters, only to land himself behind bars with no one to rescue him. And while he was in jail, his dog was put back in the pound and euthanized.

Edwin Fry, 73, said he wasn't going to let Buddy Tough rot in jail, but he didn't intend to pay the $100 fine to free him.

Instead, on Oct. 13 he drove his lawn mower to the town's kennel, cut through the cage with a large pair of bolt cutters and started home with Buddy Tough on his lap.

Fry's not denying what he did. He warned police to stay away from his dog and meant it, he said.

"I told them 'I don't advise you take my dog unless you want to face my shotgun,'" Fry said.

"They told me they were going to kill him — so there was no choice but to take matters into my own hands."

Hydro police officer Chris Chancellor said ever since two pit bull terriers killed a high school student's show calf three weeks ago, the department has been flooded with calls about unleashed dogs.

"We don't have the manpower to patrol for loose dogs, but we act on every complaint," Chancellor said.
Fry spent several days in jail. His bail was set at $1,000 requiring a $100 deposit to a bondsman for release, but no one seemed willing to put up the money, Chancellor said.

Eventually, a Hydro resident came to his rescue.

While Fry was in jail, the dog was euthanized.

Killing the dog was the wrong move. It puts the local authorities on the same level with Nazis.

"Buddy Tough, the rogue poodle, died while trying to escape..."

If the owner had kept the durn dog leashed, none of this would have happened.  Follow the law.  It works.   Stupid owner.  Dead dog.
No Nazism in the situation.

I love my dog...and I protect him from doing things that would put him in jeopardy, like running around the neighborhood unleashed.

Having said that...I love dogs, but pitbulls are a scourge...I dont want to hear its the way they are raised and I dont want to hear how cuddly and sweet they are...they kill and they do it all the time. Its impossible to ban an entire breed of dogs...so what needs to happen is much much more restrictive laws on OWNERS that dont assure their dog is safe and safely secured.
Yes I know other breed can be dangerous also...but the law would apply to ALL breeds not just pits

I agree with you whole-heartedly on this, zip.  We sadly now have locks on the gate to our backyard, because someone was using it to cut through to another street (heaven forbid they walk around the block), and they left the gate open.  I didn't realize it, let our two small dogs outside, went to get them in a while later, and they were gone.  Fortunately, mr crepe was home, he went one way, I took the car and went the other way, and found them happily walking side by side on their journey to who knows where.  They love going for a ride, and came to the car right away.  The point is, we hate locking our fence,  but we had no option.  We also put up a couple of No Trespassing signs.  It's a bit un-neighborly, but durn, I don't want to lose my dogs or have them run over.

I also stopped walking in our neighborhood and started walking the mall with the other mall walkers when a man down the street kept letting his two labs roam the neighborhood.  When one of them jumped on me from behind and almost knocked me down, I called him and asked him to keep his dogs leashed.  He refused, saying something about they protected the neighborhood (huh?).  I called Animal Control to talk to him, they did but identified me as the caller.  One of his charming teens (I think) wrote F-You on our drive-way.  I laughed when I saw it, and then it started to rain and it washed off.  The point is, the dogs were nice dogs, evidently, but large.  I'm not large and almost got knocked down, which I definitely don't need.  He thought he was above the leash laws, and he evidently was because he never did leash them.  They moved soon afterwards, though.

Keep you dogs under your control, people, and they'll be fine and so will the rest of us.

Click Start, Run and type MSCONFIG

      Select the Boot.ini tab

In the Boot Options section at the bottom, uncheck /SAFEBOOT option

      Click OK
The /safeboot entry will now be removed from the Boot.ini file.
      Restart Windows

Hope that works, but it depends on what version of Windows you're running.
Check Microsoft website help section on your specific version.

When you're done, run your anti virus, then defrag, and reboot again.

Not sure if you can access it, but if you can, you can do a roll back to an earlier date, but you may not be able to get there through safe mode.

It could be worse.  At least you didn't have to read any of kwiller's krap for a couple days.  Brutal!

That was a mighty tall drive-by insult coming from such a small tricycle, sonny.

But getting back to the topic.
Why did they kill the guys dog?
It appears to be nothing short of retribution.

Since when is it legal for a Gov agency to act in an emotional manner?

My guess would be that, did it to get even with the guy for damaging the place and making them look like fools, now they look worse.
