Hailing a "new era of peace", North Korea leader Kim Jong-un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in, sealed their talks on Friday with a joint declaration, and a bear hug, reaffirming their commitment to complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.

The historic summit also agreed to push for three or four-way talks involving the US and China to replace the Korean armistice with a peace treaty.

In his first ever speech to the world, standing outside the Peace House on the demilitarised border zone, Kim Jong-un first thanked Mr Moon and the South Korean people for their warm welcome.

"It took a long time for the two Koreas to come together and to hold hands and we have long waited for this moment to happen, all of us," he said.

"As I stand here today I can see that South and North Koreans are the same people, they cannot be separated. We are compatriots... We should not be confronting each other, we are the same people and should live in unity. I hope we will be able to live very peacefully in the future, as soon as possible."

NORTH & SOUTH KOREAN AGREEMENT:

- Commit to denuclearization

- Withdraw guard posts from Demilitarized Zone

- Set first-ever joint search effort for bodies of soldiers killed in Korean War

- Disarm jointly controlled border village, starting with removal of land mines

If this happens, there's no turning back, the two Korea's will be one again.
China was forced into giving up their death grip on NK. This is proof that Trump is changing the world.

Let's not forget we dealing with undoing 65 years of history. It will not be easy or quick. Folks need to understand that patience will be necessary.

That's what I told Toy, that the South is about to be flooded with poor, ignorant refugees.

Coupla observations:
* Moon man's family were NK refugees from the War.
* In politics he was a leftist student activist, later a human rights
lawyer, resembling Bernie Sanders w/a large dose of Karl Marx.
* The Pacific Rim nation that matters economically is neither China
nor Korea; it's Japan which occupied Korea from 1910-45.

I do not trust Kim Jong-Un but he is clearly concerned about Trump.

Yeah, the only thing that seems to motivate the little fat pig, is his fear of Trump.......... Good enough for me.

I have a feeling Kim has been freed.  When those tunnels were bombed seemed to be the turning point.

I think he is also motivated by brandy and fried chicken. We should just bombard the country with fatty foods aand alcohol and he'll die of diabetes before he gets a nuke.

He would eat all the food himself, dying of diabetes while his people starve.

I think this is a political stunt. I find it hard to believe that the Kim Regime, which has repeatedly flip-flopped on this issue, would actually go forth with its denuclearization process. It's clear that Kim doesn't care about his people and will stop at nothing to continue advancing their country. I think its all a ploy to get the US off their back and ease the tension so they can continue to advance their programs behind closed doors.

This has nothing to do with Kim, and everything to do with Trump kicking China's ass.
China for more than the last 100 years has controlled Korea, those days are over. China is at the mercy of the US, and one thing Trump did, was break the bonds they had over NK.

Yes, China is at large to blame for the continuous harboring of North Korea, and I ask this next question out of a desire to learn, about the true effects of how these Tariffs are going to put the pressure on China to act differently towards North Korea? I remember reading an article some time ago that China could end the war with North Korea due to their large financial support and aid to the country, but I do feel as though this pressure by Trump on China could drive Xi towards North Korea more as a form of retaliation.

We, the US, holds all the cards, China's very existence depends on our trade. Right now, China's economy is in the tank, as is the rest of most of the world economy.
So Trump pressuring Xi to open their mkts via tariffs, and that scares the hell out of the communists, evidenced by its crackdown within the country in an attempt to quell an uprising against the party.
The people see a potential for a communist collapse in power from a weak Xi, because they know full well he has absolutely no cards to play if Trump goes through with the tariffs, and so does Trump.

Point being, Trump, no doubt pressured Xi into backing away from NK and Kim knows they are no longer able to control him like they have since forever.
I have to admit, Trump is truly a genius when it comes to geopolitical negotiations.
