He is just as pro-amnesty as Cantor. If he is the replacement then expect  nothing to change. Time to burn up the phone lines.

Don't the Republicans have to caucus before they name a new majority leader? And isn't it time they picked the leadership from one of the GOP stronghold. The only reason McCarthy is here is because the Dems have gerrymandered the state to always have a Dem majority in the delegation, but the California GOP agreed because it guarantees them a certain number of seats. Like tossing a dog a bone.

I understand that Rep. Pete Sessions, and Texas Rep. Jeb Hensarling names are being floated also.

Cantor is supporting McCarthy but I don't know how much juice he has left after his loss. Pete Sessions will have plenty of support too and has always been a real conservative! Jeb Hensarling also has a lot of conservative support. Nowhere did I see a report that it was a done deal with McCarthy and Cantors support won't help him with the Conservatives.
My guess is watch Sessions he could be the one that could pull a split party back together!

So, the GOP will run with a pick of the majority leader who just got defeated?

They did indeed.

McCarthy isn't even considered a conservative.  He is considered a populist conservative.  No, the GOP establishment, didn't listen, nor do they care.  They are counting on conservatives voting along party lines and sadly they are overly confident that they will take both houses in November.
