This man did some pretty amazing things in his lifetime.  A decorated Vietnam veteran he fought for the rights of veterans was chair of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (remember the war memorial in Washington DC), he worked for 3 different presidents (Ronald Reagan was one of them.)  He also help to launch MADD.



The article in the Washington post is seemingly trying to discredit this man.  I am not sure why.  Yes his behavior in his last couple of days seems odd but why?  Was he somehow drugged?  And who mugged him for his briefcase?  Why not his wallet or something more valuable?  Was there something in the briefcase they wanted that night... ???  Why isn't the FBI, CIA or someone like this involved.

I imagine this guy had more enemies than a dog has fleas, not all of them international criminals,  terrorists and enemy agents, the most likely suspects.

Wandering around 'dazed' might mean he was or attempted to be sedated (kidnapping?)

I disagree about "muggers" they're hit and run artists, they wouldn't have placed him in the landfill, and would have taken more than a briefcase. I'd have to see the autopsy report, signs of struggle, defense wounds, cause of death, toxicology.

Look at all the major corporations today, they have been infested with libs at the top, I say we should be infesting their pet projects equally.

Oh, come on. Are you saying that MADD was a conservative organization for a while, then went liberal? MADD was founded by one pissed-off mom -- Candice Lightner, from Irving, Texas -- whose kid was tragically killed by a drunk driver. The original name was "Mothers Against Drunk Drivers." It was later changed to "Mothers Against Drunk Driving."

Lightner's mission was uber-liberal in the sense that she wanted to use the unlimited police power of the state to control people's behavior.

MADD very quickly became an out-of-control squealing pork belly for any legislation that would extend the state's power over individuals. Even Lightner left it in 1985.
