Jeff Van Drew will be a real RINO! Is that a bad thing?

heh....he's a dead man walking (political career speaking) anyways...He's primaried either way.

...your right Solar, his safest path was independence, bet he will see that in a few months.

Yep, he came in with a solid leftist voting record, he's a hard core leftist, there is no way he is going to get, in the least, a C ranking, which is solid RINO.

We are living in interesting times, though.  We'll have to see how things work out.  I guess I'd love to see New Jersey begin to turn Red from Blue (same with New York, where I live).  That may mean that some politicians who have been successful in being elected as Democrats will have to switch parties. If they find they are welcome, perhaps others will join them.  I don't see Republicans willing seats in Blue districts even if these Districts vote for Trump again.  Since most voters do like their own Representatives whether Dem or Republican, it may sway districts into our column if they find a place in our party.  No doubt their are a whole lot of Dems who don't like the way their Leadership is forcing them to go.  I would like to live long enough to see New York, New Jersey and California and some of the other corrupt Marxist Majority states, change. We can't do that by running strong Republicans in Blue districts.
Wally, I get your reasoning, I really do, but history proves it never turns out the way you hope.
Watch this guys voting record, RINO, right down the Leftist Establishment voting column. This means we TEA will have to fight all that much harder.

Rather than join Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats, Democrat Representative Jeff Van Drew has met with President Trump and now is going to switch parties, rather than vote for Impeachment.

He will be a Republican in name only!  However, I recall that even Ronald Reagan was a Democrat for much of his political life.  Reagan even used to quip " I was a near hemophiliac liberal; bleeding for causes!"   Perhaps Rep. Van Drew will see the light rather than simply flip in an attempt to keep his job.
Time will tell!

Wouldn't it be great if Rep. VanDrew goes back to New Jersey with fire in his belly and campaigns to flip New Jersey for Trump in 2020.   If he can do this, my feeling is that we need to consider welcoming more RINOS like Jeff Van Drew into the GOP and away from the Democrats.

I have been reading up on this and something doesn't seem right to me. I will remain weary until he can prove he will actually vote conservative on this issue. The blowback is going to be harsh and swift from the democrats, and I would not put it beside him to flip flop back on this.

I can see him switching to the republicans and voting with the democrats giving them the bipartisan vote the dims want.  Can the republicans refuse his switching?

I would have to assume they could reject his request, but I am not entirely sure.

Killer Clouds

Trump should stay away from this. He's not good when it comes to personal. His HRO choices suck.

Cryptic Bert

It's all about political expediency. He was threatened with a primary if he voted for impeachment so rather than make a choice that would either piss off his district or Pelosi he quit the party.

Looking at the district is has gone back and forth between parties so maybe enough moderates will stay with him to keep in office.
I think it would be hard to side with the left after they get done bashing him, but I can't imagine he will reliable when we really need it.
