Nobel committee demotes chairman who gave Obama peace prize
« on: March 04, 2015, 10:01:41 AM »
Conservatives now a majority on the Nobel panel.

War...at the Nobel Peace Prize: Committee chairman is demoted for first time in organisation's 114-year history amid battle with right-wingers
Labour Party's Thorbjoern Jagland ousted as chairman of the committee
Set to be replaced by Conservative rival Kaci Kullmann Five
No serving chair has ever been removed since awards first made in 1901

The committee that awards the Nobel Peace Prize has controversially demoted its chairman for the first time in the 114-year history of the award.

Thorbjoern Jagland, a former Norwegian prime minister of the Labour Party, has chaired the five-member panel since 2009 but was ousted after his right-wing opponents won a majority on the prestigious panel.

He will now revert to being a member of the committee that has received a near-record 276 nominees for the 2015 prize.

Kaci Kullmann Five, a former leader of Norway's ruling Conservative Party, will now take over.

The country's right-wing parties gained a new representative recently, giving them a 3-2 majority and allowing them to make the unprecedented demotion at the first meeting of 2015.

Declining to explain the decision, Ms Five said: 'The committee chooses a leader every year.

'This year is a new committee. Jagland has been a good leader for six years.'

Right-wing parties in the country, who won a parliamentary election in 2013 to oust a Labour-led government, have long disliked Jagland, who was prime minister from 1996.

I'm pretty sure Mountainshield does nor spend much time being concerned about the Nobel selection committee. However, I would like his take on what happened to the makeup of the committee.

The committee that awards the Nobel Peace Prize has controversially demoted its chairman for the first time in the 114-year history of the award.

Mr Jagland had attracted criticism after overseeing a number of controversial of awards, including ones made to Barack Obama in 2009 - less than a year after the U.S. president took office - to Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo in 2010 and to the European Union in 2012.

No serving chair has ever been ousted since the awards were first made in 1901, even with shifting political majorities.

Could the International House of Cards on which Obama is perched (like a pigeon on the roof) be falling apart?  What's next? Perhaps the United Nation's IPCC will rethink there position on Global Warming. Nah...that one has far too much communist and other America haters supporting it!  (The sky is falling and it's all the fault of the evil money grubbing Americans).  Anyway, I wonder if the the Nobel Committee will apologize to the world; just to set the record straight for future Historians!

Did you read the article?  Apparently a "Right Wing Group" has taken over the control and leadership of the Nobel Committee and their first action was to kick this leftist (member of the Labor Party) to the curb!

Yep, I read it and nowhere is the mention of an error committed in awarding Boli something he didn't deserve.  Guess that's next, huh?   Wouldn't that frost him?

Obama lost a whole lot of respect in not marching in solidarity in the streets of Parish or even sending Biden.  It hasn't gone unnoticed that Holder was there and left before the march only to return to Paris later.  It was a slap in the face.  Even the Leftist Leaders in Europe don't like to have their faced slapped.
They control things like the Nobel Committee and the World Court.  , Even if he's as far left as some of them, they all are very garded about their power and loyalty in their circles come down to what have you done for me lately!  Obama's done very little.  Hell, GW Bush (the Cowboy) did more for them and they are begining to realize this self serving son of a bitch isn't their friend and never was!

Well, they'll have to step up to the plate, ignore their own outrage and actually make a statement to the effects of admitting their error and why.  Like you said, he has never been their friend,  anyone else's for that matter.  He's got Daddy issues.

I believe the Churchill bust is in the U.S. yet.  Just not in the White House.

Quote
A bust of the late prime minister will be added to the Capitol collection in the National Statuary Hall, after President Obama chucked the bust that had been loaned to the U.S. from the British.
