The new Republican majority in Congress was forged by adding the limited government constitutional conservatives of the Tea Party movement to that three-legged stool. Practically every poll we see tells us that coalition represents a majority of the American electorate and should have been a solid and stable platform from which Republicans could govern for generations to come.

Except the leaders of the Republican establishment seem hell-bent on alienating enough elements of the coalition to reduce themselves to the same permanent minority status they held for most of the 50 years between the New Deal and the election of Reagan.

The viciously personal and bizarrely antagonistic attempts by the Republican congressional leadership to marginalize members of the House Republican Conference who do not hew to the Big Government – Big Business agenda of Speaker Boehner and his inside circle have been well-documented here and elsewhere.

Previously, Boehner stripped liberty-minded Representatives, such as Tim Huelskamp of Kansas and Justin Amash of Michigan, of their committee assignments and his leadership team went out their way to marginalize any member of the GOP conference who was not a team-player for Boehner’s Big Government surrender caucus.

But the unraveling of the Reagan and post-Reagan Republican coalitions have taken a new, and for the future of this country, worrying turn by two events that came to light this week.

The first was the revelation that Boehner’s former Chief of Staff, and closest political and personal confidant, Barry Jackson, is a principal in an operation that is funding attack ads against conservative members of the House Republican Conference, including Huelskamp, Rep. Louie Gohmert of Texas, Jim Bridenstine of Oklahoma and Jim Jordan of Ohio.

Setting aside the possibility that this represents an unlawful coordination of effort between the Speaker and an outside group to attack members of his own Conference, it demonstrates just how corrupt the House Republican leadership has become through the establishment of a revolving door between Capitol Hill Republican insiders and the big money interests who have spent billions backing the open borders policies that are destroying the American middle class.

However, as disgusting as this corruption is, the more immediate threat to the Reagan and post-Reagan Republican coalition comes from Jeb Bush, who is signaling that he is about to abandon social conservatives to support same-sex “marriage’ and other elements of the Democratic Party’s social and cultural agenda.

Bush’s presumptive campaign manager, David Kochel of Iowa, who had this to say about standing for traditional social mores and cultural values, “Frankly,” Kochel said on an Iowa television program, "the culture wars are kind of over, and Republicans largely lost."

This kind of thinking should not really surprise conservative observers, given, as McKay Coppins reported for BuzzFeed and our friend W. James Antle III dissected at some length in an article for The Week, “When Bush officially launches his presidential bid later this year, he will likely do so with a campaign manager who has urged the Republican Party to adopt a pro-gay agenda; a chief strategist who signed a Supreme Court amicus brief arguing for marriage equality in California; a longtime adviser who once encouraged her minister to stick to his guns in preaching equality for same-sex couples; and a communications director who is openly gay.”

If Bush is the nominee there really isnt a need for a republican party. I hope a third party conservative will have the guts to run.

I've said it before and I will say it again. I will not vote for another Bush for president. If the RINOs run Jeb Bush, they deserve to have Elizabeth Warren or Shillery in the White House!

If Jeb ends up being the nominee, I would encourage all TEA and Tea Party members and elected officials to bolt the Republican Party and form a new party.

Yes, I AM serious.

To even entertain the idea is ludicrous. Jeb, like Hitlery, hasn't a snowflakes chance in Hell.

A few months ago I would have disagreed but lately it's looking more like she's done before she starts.

Exactly! And this is why I don't want to bash her too badly on the forum, I (WE) want her to run, we want a landslide win, a bloodbath of a win.

Jeb is gobbling up the money as we speak. McCain and Romney were our last 2 nominees and Jeb would just be the next  in line.

So you're under the illusion, money will buy the election?
Tell that to the Dims, after they out spent the GOP during the midterms. How well did that workout?
