If the Republicans take Congress in the Fall, it's simple enough; simply pass a "Government Reorganization Act" and make the IRS and EPA go away. And the same way in which the states often collect both state and city tax, they can now collect federal tax. To simplify, make most of the rules of the IRS, except personal exemptions, dependent exemptions and tax rates go away. For businesses simple say what they can and cannot write off, and the tax rate. As for the people who are now employed by those agencies, tell them Friday afternoon, that they're being terminated.

If you make the IRS go away, who collects taxes or administers those exemptions you mention? State tax agencies? (10th Amendment arguments realllllllllly sound sweet, right about there.)

Of course the Demoleeches will do everything they have to, blackmailing RINO bastards into keeping the source of their power in place. If they don't have our money to dangle over our heads as pork-barrel spending, their power would be nearly meaningless. But yeah, a whole new staff sure sounds appealing.

Granted, an entirely new crew working off rules covering one side of one 8.5x11-inch page would do nicely to relieve our woes, but still, what would replace them, and how would they be immune in future from tampering like the Obama junta has done?

You will need a 2/3 majority to override the presidents veto! Obama would never sign that bill!

And the number of RINO bastards now in Congress would ensure that.

Yeah, it's not as if getting rid of the IRS would be popular or anything. As for the states, allow them to keep part of the take, and ship the rest to DC - and end block grants. As I noted, most states already collect statewide taxes of some kind. BTW, think of the power this would give the states vis a vis the federal government.

And fearing the loss of THEIR power, the RINOs would join the Democrooks to keep their swag trickle-down. I agree with your principle but flatly say we will never see that change. Cosmetic slaps-on-the-wrist will be the order of their day on both sides. If a total-overhaul bill did reach Ocommie's desk, it WOULD be vetoed and RINOS would simply not vote to override it. Popularity has nothing to do with government taxation or spending.

For a long time I didn't know if there was anything to the IRS scandal or if it was just political circus.

But having the hard drives of just the pertinent people crash, it's pretty clear. They "crashed" just a few days after this whole thing got started, right?

From what I remember from my evidence class in law school, destruction of evidence in anticipation of litigation is a crime.

Yep, it's a crime. I think Trey Gowdy's reference to "spoliation of evidence" is spot on.

I'm probably preaching to the choir here, so I'm not going to get the list... but it's a joke.

There hasn't been an effective Justice Department for 5 1/2 years, and there won't be one as long as Mr. Holder sits in the chair.

Giles, that's exactly what's contained in the Fair Tax.

But popularity has a great deal to do with elections. I don't think a politician could survive being against getting rid of the IRS. And as I noted the states would love to have the Feds dependent on them to collect their booty. And we are never going to accomplish anything, if we're constantly worried about what the RINO's will do.

What the states would love will unfortunately not happen. Instead of telling the public the truth, the pols will kill the bill in committee or else drown it with amendments. Unless and until conservatives rule, the RINO go-along-to-get-along policy will continue.

It's called the Fair Tax Act.... can't remember the bill numbers but it was introduced several times by congressman Linder.

It's a great plan and revenue neutral.  I've never heard it criticized without the critic misrepresenting it somehow.

It abolishes the IRS, the 16th amendment,  the 17th needs to go with it and the states should select the senators again.

Anyway, since it is only a tax on new products and services at the retail level,  the costs of compliance and administration go way down.

I think it's Senate Bill 25. I know it's been kicked around for years. Read the book, and yes, I drank THAT KoolAid. It's hard to imagine a better thing for the country.

Tampering with evidence in such a manner is a criminal act, separate and apart from the original criminal act in and of itself.

Or in other words it's a separate, second charge, and violation of the law. Which could impose prison time, fines etc....on top of the penalties for using the IRS the way this administration did.
