Title: It is ILLEGAL to Ban Slavery in the USA
Post by: Yawn on December 05, 2012, 06:48:14 PM
It's settled law. The Supreme Court has spoken. The case is closed!

QuoteDred Scott (1795 – September 17, 1858), was an African-American slave in the United States who unsuccessfully sued for his freedom and that of his wife and their two daughters in the Dred Scott v. Sandford case of 1857, popularly known as "the Dred Scott Decision." His case was based on the fact that although he and his wife Harriet Scott were slaves, he had lived with his master Dr. John Emerson in states and territories where slavery was illegal according to both state laws and the Northwest Ordinance of 1787, including Illinois and Minnesota (which was then part of the Wisconsin Territory). The United States Supreme Court decided 7–2 against Scott, finding that neither he nor any other person of African ancestry could claim citizenship in the United States, and therefore Scott could not bring suit in federal court under diversity of citizenship rules. Also, I guess the Amendment process is illegitimate since law has already been established.

Now, can we see that this argument is just plain silly and we need to stop using it to justify turning 50 million "unwanted" babies into hamburger?  Yeah, we CAN impose "morality" against those who "choose" to kill an unwanted child.  Or against those who "choose" to steal another man's life (slavery).

I was going to point that out too!

One could also point to the government Jihad against tobacco products, or even the universal (in the U.S. at least) prohibition against polygamy.

There again there are laws against victimless crimes such as prostitution, smoking marijuana, etc, etc.

Speaking of Slavery:

You can read between the lines here, two women with Mexican Surnames,  held this child as a sex slave. You won't read about this too much because it is an example of how 'immigrants' treat their own.

Now read the outrage and indignation when something like this is uncovered in India;

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/newsmakers/enslaved-children-freed-after-being-forced-to-make-christmas-decorations-potentially-headed-for-us-194625049.html (http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/newsmakers/enslaved-children-freed-after-being-forced-to-make-christmas-decorations-potentially-headed-for-us-194625049.html)

Tsk Tsk...involve the UN when it is in India but kind of put it on the back page when it shows how Mexican Children smuggled in by their own are abused and mistreated.

Okay. Dred Scott was rendered moot by the 13th, 14th, and 15th, Amendment. It was also terribly bad law, since when the Constitution was ratified free blacks, were citizens of various states, and participated during the ratification process. Dred Scott was Roe vs Wade, and attempt by the USSC to read their own, unsupported, personal beliefs into the legal code via judicial fiat. I find it fascinating that the same people who abhor Dred Scott worship Roe vs Wade. Interestingly enough, IIRC, during his famous debates with Douglas, Lincoln pointed out that the Constitution simply said "persons held to service or labor" and made no mention of the race of these "persons". Indeed he pointed out that if the Constitution could make a black person a slave, if they could get enough votes, they could make white people slaves.

Yes. That's the point I was going for.  They thing these decisions, even the bad ones, are set in stone.  A better or worse court can change anything.

And we're HERE.  We're all slaves now.  We don't even own property anymore. We rent from the State.

The UN was probably more against the Christmas ornaments than it cared about the kids involved. :sad:
