He Teaches Social Studies: Suspect Who Vandalized Columbus Statue in Rhode Island is Elementary Teacher

One of the suspects involved in vandalism at the Christopher Columbus statue in Elmwood Avenue is a teacher at Pawtucket Public Schools who is now out on leave pending an investigation, according to the superintendent.
Derrick Garforth, 34, was charged with desecration of grave/monument, which is a felony.
Superintendent of the Pawtucket School Department, Dr. Cheryl McWilliams, told ABC6 News, "I have just learned about this and the School Department is investigating it."
Around 1:30 a.m., on Saturday morning detectives noticed a man and woman getting out of a car and running across Elmwood Avenue towards Columbus square. The two began to splatter paint on the boarded up monument, according to police.
Both then fled across Elmwood Avenue towards Lexington Avenue.
Detectives saw both suspects enter the rear lot of the Feinstein School heading towards Ontario St. Detectives quickly drove to Ontario Street and were able to catch up to both suspects as they exited the lot.
Derrick Garforth, 34, and Charlotte Whittingham, 28, were both arrested.

Calif. City Officials Admit to Accepting Bribes
A former Calexico City, California councilman along with a former commissioner on the city's Economic Development and Financial Advisory Commission, pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday to corruption charges, admitting that they accepted cash bribes in exchange for promises of official action by the city.
David Romero and Bruno Suarez Soto entered their pleas before U.S. Magistrate Judge Bernard G. Skomal, who set sentencing for Sept. 4, 2020, before U.S. District Judge Cathy Ann Bencivengo. Romero and Soto, who were charged in federal court in May, were allowed to remain free on $10,000 personal appearance bonds secured by their own signatures.
According to their plea agreements, Romero and Soto accepted $35,000 in cash bribes from an undercover FBI agent who they believed represented investors seeking to open a cannabis dispensary in Calexico. In return, Romero and Soto guaranteed the rapid issuance of a city permit for the dispensary, and to revoke or hinder other applicants if necessary to ensure that the bribe payer's application was successful. Both men admitted they had taken bribes from others in the past. Referring to this $35,000 payment, they told the undercover agent, "This isn't our first rodeo."
In addition to being a councilman, Romero served as Calexico's mayor pro tem, meaning he was set to become Mayor in July 2020. Soto recently resigned from the city commission responsible for promoting business and community growth and coordinating with prospective developers to help them invest in the City of Calexico. Romero resigned from office on June 8, 2020.
The charges filed in the case also allege that both men lied to the FBI when interviewed by agents at the conclusion of a January 30 meeting. Romero falsely denied being part of any agreement with the undercover agent, and denied that anyone had made any "guarantees" to the agent. Similarly, Soto falsely denied making any "guarantees" to the undercover agent and denied receiving any prior payments from the agent.

U.S. memory chipmaker Micron scored a major legal victory after a local court found two of its former employees guilty of passing trade secrets to a Chinese company.
Two engineers at Taiwanese contract chipmaker United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) leaked technology from their former employer and used the trade secrets in a cooperation project with Chinese state-owned semiconductor manufacturer Fujian Jinhua Integrated Circuit, the court ruled. Their supervisor was also convicted for his involvement in the scheme.
The district court in central Taiwan's Taichung City on June 12 sentenced the three UMC staff to prison for 4.5 to 6.5 years. It also found UMC guilty of violating Taiwan's law on trade secrets and fined it $100 million New Taiwan Dollars (about $3.37 million).
UMC, Fujian Jinhua, the two engineers, and another UMC employee were indicted on similar charges by U.S. federal prosecutors in November 2018.

Fifty-four scientists have lost their jobs as a result of NIH probe into foreign ties
Some 54 scientists have resigned or been fired as a result of an ongoing investigation by the National Institutes of Health into the failure of NIH grantees to disclose financial ties to foreign governments. In 93% of those cases, the hidden funding came from a Chinese institution.
The new numbers come from Michael Lauer, NIH's head of extramural research. Lauer had previously provided some information on the scope of NIH's investigation, which had targeted 189 scientists at 87 institutions. But his presentation today to a senior advisory panel offered by far the most detailed breakout of an effort NIH launched in August 2018 that has roiled the U.S. biomedical community, and resulted in criminal charges against some prominent researchers, including Charles Lieber, chair of Harvard University's department of chemistry and chemical biology.
"It's not what we had hoped, and it's not a fun task," NIH Director Francis Collins said in characterizing the ongoing investigation. He called the data "sobering."

I am sick of watching these so called peaceful protesters. Their protesting against the police is ridicules. What are the cops supposed to do when they get into a fight with someone with a weapon? Even a stun gun. What is a cop supposed to do when someone resists a simple arrest physically? I have seen cops dragged by cars, hit with many objects that actually could kill you. My brother in law cop has suffered a broken finger in a fight, a broken ankle jumping a fence chasing a criminal and a broken leg directing traffic in a snow storm because the traffic light was not working. He got hit by a car sliding in the snow. I have a nephew motorcycle cop hit by a car and had a serious knee injury, it took two surgeries and nine months to heal and back to work. They and many of their friends that are cops can tell you stories you won't believe. Punched, kicked, spit at, and stabbed with sharp objects, not just knives. My cousin Sunny was a cop. He has passed away. But he was resisted many times. I have a friend that is a cop that killed a man with a shotgun walking down a street shooting windows out of apartment houses. I have another friend that is a cop that did shoot a man running away from him that was dangerous and had just robed a small store. He shot him in the leg to stop him. He told me the shot was high up near the man's butt and he was screaming "You shot my leg, you shot my leg". You won't believe this, but he said to the guy, "you are lucky, I was aiming for your balls".
I have been to New Year's parties with the cops, and many times at my brother in laws house at Christmas many of his police friends would stop by. There may be a few bad ones, but the dozens I have met were all good people. Good husbands and good fathers. Sure, there may be one bad one out of every thousand cops. But I never met a bad one. I know one undercover state cop too. And two federal marshals. One of them is a national civilian champion pistol shooter that taught my brother and me how to shoot. He used to transport prisoners back to their own countries and jail there. And sorry to say, but he has passed away too. And my wife has one cousin that is FBI. He only works in an office keeping track of terrorists.
If they all went on strike, the good people might treat these demonstrators a lot worse than the police, and who would stop them? No cops to save their ass.

Christopher Lischewski, former Chief Executive Officer and President of Bumble Bee Foods LLC, was sentenced to serve 40 months in jail and pay a $100,000 criminal fine for his leadership role in a three-year antitrust conspiracy to fix prices of canned tuna, the Department of Justice announced.
Lischewski was charged on May 16, 2018, in an indictment returned by a federal grand jury in San Francisco. After a four-week trial in late 2019, he was convicted on the single count of participating in a conspiracy to fix prices of canned tuna. In imposing Lischewski's 40-month prison sentence, the Court found that Lischewski was a leader or organizer of the conspiracy and that it affected over $600 million dollars of canned tuna sales.
"The sentence imposed today will serve as a significant deterrent in the C-suite and the boardroom," said Assistant Attorney General Makan Delrahim of the Justice Department's Antitrust Division. "Executives who cheat American consumers out of the benefits of competition will be brought to justice, particularly when their antitrust crimes affect the most basic necessity, food. Today's sentence reflects the serious harm that resulted from the multi-year conspiracy to fix prices of canned tuna."
"This sentence is the result of our commitment to holding corporations and senior leadership accountable for their actions, whether they operate in the food supply industry or elsewhere," said FBI San Francisco Division Special Agent in Charge, John F. Bennett. "This brings us closer to our goal; allowing our citizens to be able to purchase food in an unbiased market within an efficient and fair economy, free of corporate greed."
Bumble Bee pleaded guilty and was sentenced to pay a $25 million criminal fine. In September, StarKist Co. was sentenced to pay a statutory maximum $100 million criminal fine. In addition to Bumble Bee and StarKist, four executives, including Lischewski, were charged in the investigation. The other three executives pleaded guilty and testified in Lischewski's trial.
The sentence announced today is a result of the Department's ongoing investigation into price fixing in the packaged-seafood industry, which is being conducted by the Antitrust Division's San Francisco Office and the FBI's San Francisco Field Office. Simpson County deputy James Blair was shot and killed while transporting an inmate to a facility in Mendenhall on June 12.
The shooter was named by law enforcement officials as Joaquin Steven Blackwell.
He was arrested on June 13, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said in a statement, after "an extensive manhunt" involving a number of agencies.
Blackwell was charged with capital murder of a peace officer, a crime punishable by death.
An investigation into what happened continues, with an effort to identify any other possible suspect or suspects.
Blackwell was described by law enforcement as armed and dangerous. He was described as a black male with brown eyes and black hair.
He was on foot wearing no shirt and white boxer shorts only, officials said the day before he was arrested.

A Chinese national pleaded guilty today to conspiracy to commit money laundering in connection with laundering more than $4 million in drug proceeds generated by large-scale cocaine trafficking in the United States.

Brinkema accepted the plea.
According to court documents, Xueyong Wu, 40, cultivated relationships with Latin American drug trafficking organizations to transport and launder their United States-based drug proceeds. Wu is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 29.
Much of this money was repatriated to Mexico through a complex series of international financial transactions. Wu received a percentage of the money involved in these transactions as compensation for organizing these laundering activities. Much of this money was generated through movement of cocaine or payment for cocaine that took place within the Eastern District of Virginia.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Michael P. Ben'Ary and David A. Peters, along with Trial Attorneys Steve Sola and Kerry Blackburn of the Criminal Division's Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section are prosecuting the case.

Former Colorado Judge Pleads Guilty to Obstructing Task Force Investigation of a Drug Trafficking Organization
A former Colorado judge pleaded guilty today to obstructing a federal task force investigation of a large-scale drug trafficking organization.
Assistant Attorney General Brian A. Benczkowski of the Justice Department's Criminal Division, U.S. Attorney Jason R. Dunn of the District of Colorado and Special Agent in Charge Michael Schneider of the FBI's Denver Field Office made the announcement.
Ryan Kamada, 41, of Windsor, Colorado, pleaded guilty to one count of obstruction of proceedings before a department or agency of the United States before U.S. District Judge William J. Martinez of the District of Colorado. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Dec. 4, 2020, before Judge Martinez.
According to admissions Kamada made in connection with his guilty plea, beginning in or around October 2018, a federal task force was investigating an international drug trafficking organization that was distributing large quantities of cocaine throughout northern Colorado. One of the members of the organization was a drug trafficker who lived in Greeley, Colorado. Kamada had known the drug trafficker since high school.
Beginning in January 2019, Kamada served as a District Court judge of the 19th Judicial District of Colorado. While serving as the "on call" judge one evening in April 2019, Kamada received a phone call from a task force officer who was seeking a search warrant related to the investigation into the drug trafficker. The task force officer pointed out to Kamada that he was associated with the drug trafficker on social media. As a result, Kamada recused himself from the case. But early the next morning, Kamada called his best friend, Geoffrey Chacon, who had also known the drug trafficker since childhood. Kamada told Chacon that law enforcement was "watching" the drug trafficker's house, car and phone, and instructed Chacon to "stay away" from the drug trafficker. Chacon subsequently informed the drug trafficker about the warrant and Chacon modified his own behavior in order to avoid law enforcement attention.
The information that Chacon provided to the drug trafficker also caused the drug trafficker to change his pattern of conduct and substantially interfered with the task force's investigation. After Chacon relayed the information that he received from Kamada to the drug trafficker, Chacon destroyed records of his communications with the drug trafficker in order to impair efforts by law enforcement to tie Chacon to the drug trafficker. In November 2019, Chacon pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of destruction of records with the intent to obstruct a federal investigation.
The FBI's Denver Field Office is investigating the case, with substantial assistance from the Greeley Police Department. Trial Attorney John Taddei of the Criminal Division's Public Integrity Section and Assistant U.S. Attorney Bryan Fields of the District of Colorado are prosecuting the case.
Fifth Pharmaceutical Company Charged In Ongoing Criminal Antitrust Investigation
Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Inc., USA was charged for conspiring to fix prices for generic drugs, the Department of Justice announced today.
The charge, filed today in the U.S. District Court in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, alleges that Glenmark conspired with other generic drug companies, including a company with its principal place of business in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, and Apotex Corp., to increase and maintain prices of pravastatin and other generic drugs beginning in or around May 2013 and continuing until at least in or around December 2015. Pravastatin is a prescription medication that reduces cholesterol, helping to prevent heart attacks and strokes. The charge alleges that the gain to the conspirators, and the loss to the victims, was at least $200 million.
"By cheating through fixing prices, generic drug companies artificially raised prices even though prescription drug costs were already sky high," said Assistant Attorney General Makan Delrahim of the Department of Justice's Antitrust Division. "As today's charge shows, the Antitrust Division will not hesitate to charge these companies, and litigate where necessary, particularly where their crimes resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars in overcharges for life-saving medications."
"During these difficult times, it is more important than ever that our pharmaceutical companies conduct business with the well-being of the consumer in mind," said Deputy Special Agent in Charge Steven Stuller, U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General. "When generic drug companies conspire to artificially increase prices, they do so to the detriment of many who depend on these medications to maintain good health. Along with the Department of Justice Antitrust Division and our partners at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the USPS Office of Inspector General will remain committed to investigating those who would engage in this type of harmful conduct."
"The FBI will continue to work closely with our partners to pursue companies and individuals who seek to manipulate the economic system to their benefit," said Timothy R. Slater, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI Washington Field Office. "Today's charge demonstrates the FBI's ongoing commitment to rooting out this greed and illegal activity. There are real victims in these crimes; they are the patients around the country who rely on these vital medications."
"Artificially inflating the price of medication is reprehensible and illegal," said Jennifer Arbittier Williams, First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. "This ill-gotten gain by the pharmaceutical industry potentially put the health of millions of Americans at risk. Just as with the other charges that have been brought out of this investigation into generic pharmaceuticals, today's announcement demonstrates that we will continue to hold accountable any company that engages in this type of conduct."
Glenmark is the fifth company to be charged over the last 13 months in connection with antitrust violations in the generic pharmaceutical industry. The previous corporate charges, including the charge against Glenmark's co-conspirator Apotex, were resolved by deferred prosecution agreement. Four senior executives have also been charged. Three entered guilty pleas and the fourth is awaiting trial.
A criminal Information merely alleges that a crime has been committed, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
The offense charged carries a statutory maximum penalty of $100 million, which may be increased to twice the gain derived from the crime or twice the loss suffered by victims if either amount is greater than $100 million.
This charge is the result of an ongoing federal antitrust investigation into market allocation, price fixing, bid rigging, and other anticompetitive conduct in the generic pharmaceutical industry, which is being conducted by the Antitrust Division with the assistance of the United States Postal Service Office of Inspector General, the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Washington and Philadelphia Field Offices, and the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Rural hospitals allegedly exploited as billing shells in 'elaborate' $1.4B pass-through scheme
A group of health professionals has been charged with attempting to cheat the health care system out of massive amounts of money in a multistate scheme, according to documents unsealed Monday.
Ten individuals – including hospital managers, lab owners and billers – were charged for their participation in a scheme to bill private insurance companies $1.4 billion for lab tests, for which they were paid $400 million.
The individuals allegedly used their own management companies to take over small, rural hospitals – which were often financially struggling – as "shells" to fraudulently bill private insurers for expensive urinalysis drug tests and blood tests.
While outside laboratories allegedly conducted most of the tests, the conspirators billed insurers as though they were conducted at the rural hospitals because they received higher contractual reimbursement rates that way.

DOJ Has Brought Charges in 150 Federal Cases Linked to Rioting, US Attorney Says
The Justice Department (DOJ) has so far brought charges in 150 federal cases related to acts of violence amid nationwide protests that occurred in the wake of George Floyd's death, according to the acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.
The department and other federal agencies have been prioritizing efforts to quell outbreaks of violent rioting in several cities and restore law and order to those areas over the past month. The death of Floyd, a black man who died in the custody of Minneapolis police, sparked widespread protests across the nation to call for change over police brutality and policing practices. While many of the protests were peaceful, some cities were faced with the violent activity that has led to significant property damage and more than a dozen deaths.
Michael Sherwin, the acting U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, provided an update of the department's efforts in the area on Thursday on Fox News Tucker Carlson's show. He said that to date the U.S. attorney's offices across the nation have brought charges in 150 cases related to the destruction of federal property and "a litany of other crimes that really have been lost in the shuffle," including cases related to arson as well as murder in California.
He added that federal resources have also been used to assist with local and state authorities to charge hundreds of other cases related to state charges including assault and battery and theft.

West Virginia Woman Admits to Willful Retention of Top Secret National Defense Information and International Parental Kidnapping
Elizabeth Jo Shirley, of Hedgesville, West Virginia, has admitted to unlawfully retaining a document containing national defense information and committing international parental kidnapping, the Department of Justice announced.
Shirley, 47, pled guilty to one count of "Willful Retention of National Defense Information" and one count of "International Parental Kidnapping." Shirley admitted to unlawfully retaining a National Security Agency (NSA) document containing information classified at the TOP SECRET/SENSITIVE COMPARTMENTED INFORMATION (TS/SCI) level relating to the national defense that outlines intelligence information regarding a foreign government's military and political issues. Shirley also admitted to removing her child, of whom she was the non-custodial parent, to Mexico with the intent to obstruct the lawful exercise of the custodial father's parental rights.
"When Shirley took classified information from her work with the Intelligence Community and later fled to Mexico, she violated the confidence placed in her by the American people," said Assistant Attorney General for National Security John C. Demers. "She doubled down on this betrayal when she sought to offer classified information to the Russian government. We are grateful for our law enforcement partners' timely work to locate and arrest the defendant in Mexico. Given Shirley's troubling conduct after fleeing the United States, the damage to national security could have been far greater had law enforcement not acted swiftly. Shirley will now be held accountable for betraying the trust of the American people."
"High level security clearance requires a commensurate level of trust. Shirley breached that trust and attempted to put our country at risk. National security is one of our highest priorities and always will be. Shirley will now face the consequences of her actions," said U.S. Attorney William J. Powell.
"Federal government employees and contractors with high level security clearances pledge to protect classified information from foreign adversaries. It's an essential responsibility in guarding our country's national security," said FBI Pittsburgh Special Agent in Charge Michael Christman. "Ms. Shirley had a duty to safeguard classified information. Instead, she chose to break the law and trust placed in her and made plans to pass national defense information to Russian officials, which could have put our citizens at risk. The FBI does not take these violations lightly and will work to hold wrongdoers accountable to keep our country safe."
Shirley served on active duty with the United States Air Force, and in August 1994, the Air Force granted Shirley her first TS/SCI security clearance. After leaving active duty, Shirley served in the United States Air Force Reserves and later in the United States Navy Reserves. While serving in the Air Force, she worked on assignments with the NSA. From May 2001 to August 2012, Shirley held various positions with the United States Navy's Office of Naval Intelligence, the Department of Defense, the Department of Energy, the National Cyber Investigative Joint Task Force, and at least five different cleared defense contractors. In connection with these positions, Shirley held TOP SECRET/SCI security clearances at various times.
In July 2019, Shirley took her six-year-old daughter to Mexico with the intent to make contact with representatives of the Government of Russia to request resettlement in a country that would not extradite her to the United States. Shirley took with her to Mexico national defense information, which she had unlawfully retained. While in Mexico, Shirley prepared a written message to Russian Government officials, referencing "an urgent need" to have "items shipped from the USA related to [her] life's work before they are seized and destroyed."
On Aug. 13, 2019, the United States Marshals Service and Mexican law enforcement located Shirley and her daughter at a hotel in Mexico City. Mexican authorities arrested Shirley pursuant to an arrest warrant the West Virginia State Police (WVSP) had obtained on a charge of concealment of a minor from a custodian.
The FBI subsequently executed search warrants on numerous of Shirley's electronic devices, including devices she took to Mexico in July 2019 and devices the FBI seized from her Martinsburg storage unit in August 2019. Pursuant to the search of the storage unit, the FBI located the NSA document underlying the Willful Retention of National Defense Information offense. In addition, pursuant to searches of the electronic devices, the FBI found an Office of Naval Intelligence PowerPoint presentation containing information classified at the SECRET level and messages Shirley had drafted to Russian Government officials while in Mexico, the latter of which the Central Intelligence Agency has determined to include information classified at the SECRET level.
Shirley faces up to ten years of incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000 for the national security charge and up to three years of incarceration and fine of up to $250,000 for the kidnapping charge. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jarod J. Douglas and Lara K. Omps-Botteicher and Trial Attorney Evan N. Turgeon with the Department of Justice's Counterintelligence and Export Control Section, National Security Division, are prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The FBI and WVSP investigated. The Webster County Prosecuting Attorney's Office cooperated in the investigation and prosecution of the case.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert W. Trumble presided.

US Professor Charged for Illegally Using US Research Grants to Aid China
A U.S. professor has been arrested for using over $4 million in federal grant money to benefit China's research in rheumatology and immunology.
Zheng Songguo, 57, a rheumatology professor at the Ohio State University (OSU), was arrested in Alaska on May 22, before he could fly to China on a charter flight, according to a July 9 press release from the Department of Justice (DOJ). When he was arrested, he was carrying multiple items, including several USB drives, three cellphones, and a briefcase containing two laptops.
"We allege that Zheng was preparing to flee the country after he learned that his employer had begun an administrative process into whether or not he was complying with rules governing taxpayer-funded grants," stated David M. DeVillers, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio, in the press release.
At a detention hearing on Thursday, Magistrate Judge Elizabeth Preston of the federal court for the Southern District of Ohio, ordered Zheng to be held without bond because he was a flight risk.
Zheng is charged with one account of grant fraud for failure to disclose that he was engaged in a scheme to use about $4.1 million in grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to help the Chinese regime. According to the DOJ, the fraud charge is punishable by up to ten years in prison.
He is also charged with one count of making false statements, which is punishable by up to five years in prison. According to prosecutors, he failed to disclose his employment positions in China while being employed at U.S. universities, including Ohio State University (OSU).
U.S. Assistant Attorney General for National Security John C. Demers said in the press release that the federal grants were "designed to benefit the health and well-being of the people of the United States—not to be hijacked to supplement the research goals of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)."

Former Congressman Charged with Ballot Stuffing, Bribery, and Obstruction
A former U.S. Congressman was charged Tuesday in an indictment unsealed today, with conspiring to violate voting rights by fraudulently stuffing the ballot boxes for specific candidates in the 2014, 2015, and 2016 primary elections, bribery of an election official, falsification of records, voting more than once in federal elections, and obstruction of justice.
Michael "Ozzie" Myers, 77, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is charged with conspiring with and bribing the former Judge of Elections for the 39th Ward, 36th Division, Domenick J. Demuro. Demuro, who pleaded guilty previously in federal court in Philadelphia, was responsible for overseeing the entire election process and all voter activities of his division in accord with federal and state election laws.
"Free and fair elections are the hallmark of our system of government," said Acting Assistant Attorney General Rabbitt of the Justice Department's Criminal Division. "The Department of Justice has zero tolerance for corruption of the electoral process, and we will spare no effort in investigating and prosecuting those who would seek an unfair advantage at the polls by bribing state and local officials responsible for ensuring the fairness of our elections."
"Voting is the cornerstone of our democracy. If only one vote has been illegally rung up or fraudulently stuffed into a ballot box, the integrity of that entire election is undermined," said U.S. Attorney William M. McSwain of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. "Votes are not things to be purchased and democracy is not for sale. If you are a political consultant, election official, or work with the polling places in any way, I urge you to do your job honestly and faithfully. That is what the public deserves, it is what democracy demands, and it is what my office will enforce."
"Transparent and fair elections are integral to the proper functioning of our democracy," said Special Agent in Charge Michael J. Driscoll of the FBI's Philadelphia Division. "Those who seek to corrupt the vote threaten the public's trust in the process and must be brought to justice. The FBI is determined to protect the integrity of our electoral system."
"These charges, announced today by the Justice Department, clearly illustrate allegations of absolute disregard for the sanctity of our electoral system," said Captain Leo D. Hannon Jr., Director of the Special Investigations Division of the Pennsylvania State Police. "As disheartening as this conduct may be for the voting public in Philadelphia and elsewhere, the citizens we serve should be reassured by the fearless and tireless work of the attorneys, agents, and troopers tasked with the continuation of this active investigation. Particularly in the current atmosphere of impending elections, the Pennsylvania State Police prioritize investigations into allegations of voter fraud and public corruption."
Myers is charged with bribing Demuro to illegally add votes for certain candidates of their mutual party in primary elections. Some ofthese candidates were individuals running for judicial office whose campaigns had hired Myers, andothers were candidates for various federal, state, and local elective offices whom Myers favored for a variety of reasons. According to the indictment, Myers would solicit payments from his clients in the form of cash or checks as "consulting fees," and then use portions of these funds to pay Demuro and others in return for tampering with election results.
After receiving payments ranging from between $300 to $5,000 per election from the consultant, the court papers allege Demuro would add fraudulent votes on the voting machine – also known as "ringing up" votes – for Myers' clients and preferred candidates, thereby diluting the value of ballots cast by actual voters. At Myers' direction, Demuro would add these fraudulent votes to the totals during Election Day, and then would later falsely certify that the voting machine results were accurate. Myers is also accused of directing Demuro to lie about the circumstances of the bribes and the ballot-stuffing scheme to investigators.
This case is being investigated by the FBI with assistance from the Pennsylvania State Police. It is being prosecuted by Richard C. Pilger, Director of the Elections Crimes Branch of the Criminal Division's Public Integrity Section and Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric L. Gibson.
An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

A News 4 investigation has found that St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner has been flying all around the country and the globe with organizations who want to reform the criminal justice system.
However, it appears she has violated the law, by not reporting the trips.
Sources tell News 4 Gardner is a frequent flyer. At times during her tenure as prosecutor, sources say, she has often been gone from her office a couple of times every month, jetting around on someone else's dime.

Social media snaps show Gardner posing for pictures in Portugal, listening to conversations in New Haven, Connecticut, smiling with other prosecutors in Houston and linking arms in Selma, Alabama.
They are trips she apparently took in 2018 and 2019, but did not disclose on travel reports, as required by law.
Sources tell News 4 that some of the trips were paid for in full, or in part, by an organization called Fair and Just Prosecution, a group that professes to support progressive prosecutors. The organization has repeatedly applauded many of Gardner's actions, including the charges against Mark and Patricia McCloskey for brandishing guns in the Central West End last month.

Feds Indict 8 Rioters In May 30 Pittsburgh Demonstration
Eight Pittsburgh-area residents have been charged in six separate indictments for criminal activity perpetuated during a civil disorder in the City of Pittsburgh, United States Attorney Scott W. Brady announced today. The alleged criminal acts occurred while Pittsburgh Police officers were engaged in responding to the violent demonstration in downtown Pittsburgh on May 30, 2020 at the same time that many other citizens were lawfully protesting over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The indictments were returned under seal on July 22, 2020, and the final two indictments were unsealed today.
"Throwing IEDs and bricks at police officers, throwing projectiles at and striking police horses, and setting police cruisers on fire are not the protected First Amendment activities of a peaceful protest; they are criminal acts that violate federal law," said U.S. Attorney Brady. "We will continue to identify and prosecute these agitators, whose acts of violence hijacked a lawful protest and undermined a message of equality with one of destruction."
The first indictment charges George Allen, 31, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with one count of obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder. According to the Indictment, on or about May 30, 2020, Allen knowingly and willfully caused damage to a police officer's police vehicle by throwing a projectile through the front passenger window of the vehicle, causing the obstruction, impediment and interference of law enforcement officers engaged in the lawful performance of their official duties.
A second indictment charges Nicholas Lucia, 25, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with one count of obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder. According to the Indictment, on or about May 30, 2020, Lucia knowingly and willfully threw an object at uniformed police officers that appeared to be an explosive device, which landed on an officer's vest, was quickly pulled off by another officer, and thereafter exploded when it hit the ground, causing the obstruction, impediment and interference of law enforcement officers engaged in the lawful performance of their official duties.
A third indictment charges Andrew Augustyniak-Duncan, 25, of Carnegie, Pennsylvania, with one count of obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder. According to the Indictment, on or about May 30, 2020, Augustyniak-Duncan knowingly and willfully threw projectiles at several police officers, causing the obstruction, impediment and interference of law enforcement officers engaged in the lawful performance of their official duties.
A fourth indictment charges Raekwon Dac Blankenship, 24, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder. According to the Indictment, on or about May 30, 2020, Blankenship knowingly and willfully caused damage to a police officer's unmarked police vehicle by hitting, kicking and stomping on various parts of that vehicle, knowingly and willfully caused damage to a police officer's marked vehicle by throwing a projectile into the windshield, and poked and struck multiple police horses, causing the obstruction, impediment and interference of law enforcement officers engaged in the lawful performance of their official duties
The grand jury also returned a two-count indictment charging Devin Montgomery, 24, and Brandon Benson, 29, each of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with malicious destruction or damage by fire of a vehicle of an organization receiving federal financial assistance and bank burglary. According to the Indictment, on May 30, 2020, Devin Montgomery maliciously damaged and destroyed by fire a police vehicle leased and possessed by the City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Police. The indictment further alleges that on May 30, 2020, Devin Montgomery and Brandon Benson entered and attempted to enter the Dollar Bank, located at 537 Smithfield Street in Pittsburgh, with the intent to take property, money or thing of value. The bank's deposits were then insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
Finally, the grand jury returned a four-count indictment that named Da'Jon Lengyel, 22, of McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, and Christopher West, 35, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as defendants. Counts one and two of the indictment allege that on or about May 30, 2020, Da'Jon Lengyel and Chrisopher West knowingly conspired to and did maliciously damage and destroy by fire a police vehicle leased and possessed by the City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, an organization receiving federal financial assistance. In addition, Counts three and four of the indictment allege that on May 30, 2020, Lengyel and West, respectively, knowingly and willfully caused damage to a police officer's vehicle by hitting, kicking and stomping on various parts of the vehicle and by joining others to destroy the vehicle by fire. The indictment alleges this conduct resulted in the obstruction, impediment and interference of a law enforcement officer engaged in the lawful performance of his official duties.
"The actions of the accused were uncalled for and prevented law enforcement officers from carrying out their duties to protect and serve our community," said FBI Pittsburgh Special Agent in Charge Michael Christman. "The FBI respects the rights of people to peacefully exercise their First Amendment freedoms but will not stand by and let those with a violent agenda take over peaceful protests. We, alongside the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, worked around the clock to uncover the faces behind the destruction and obstruction of law enforcement. We are not done. We continue to use all of our investigative resources to find each person who chose to start a violent confrontation."
"The defendants in this case posed as protesters to hijack otherwise peaceful demonstrations," said John Schmidt, acting Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives' Philadelphia Field Division. "ATF supports every citizens' constitutional right to peaceably protest, and we are committed to rooting out those who use the current situation for their own nefarious intentions. Rest assured we will continue to work with our local and state partners to investigate violent acts committed during these unprecedented times until the criminal offenders are brought to justice."
"I would like to thank our law enforcement partners with FBI Pittsburgh, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the U.S. Attorney's Office, plus the Damage Assessment and Accountability Taskforce for continuing to seek justice in these matters. The lawlessness we saw on May 30 cannot be tolerated. We appreciate the support to hold accountable those who committed violent acts in the City of Pittsburgh," Public Safety Director Wendell Hissrich said.
"The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police is committed to serving every resident, every visitor, and every person who works in the city of Pittsburgh. We have a track record of assuring the public's First Amendment rights, and we will continue to protect those rights. But when protests turn violent, we have an obligation to protect everyone—including business owners, peaceful protesters, and law enforcement officers who are attacked for simply doing their jobs," Pittsburgh Police Chief Scott Schubert said.
For Allen, Lucia, Duncan and Blankenship, the law provides for a maximum total sentence of not more than five years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both. For Montgomery, the law provides for a mandatory minimum of five years and a maximum of 25 years in prison, a fine of $500,000, or both. For Benson, the law provides for a maximum total sentence of 25 years in prison, a fine of $500,000, or both. For Lengyel and West the law provides for a mandatory minimum of five years and a maximum of 30 years in prison, a fine of $750,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant(s).
U.S. Attorney Brady credited the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police for the investigation leading to these indictments.

Two NJ Men, Aged 20 & 29, Charged Federally for Attempt To Torch Police Cars During Riot
TRENTON, N.J. – Two New Jersey men have been charged with attempting to set fire to a marked police vehicle following the May 2020 protests in Trenton, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced today.
Killian F. Melecio, 20, of Columbus, New Jersey, and Kadeem A. Dockery, 29, of Trenton, were arrested Aug. 5, 2020, by special agents of the FBI and charged by complaint with one count of attempting to damage or destroy by fire a vehicle owned or possessed by an institution receiving federal financial assistance, and one count of attempting to damage or destroy by fire a vehicle used in and affecting interstate commerce.
On May 31, 2020, large-scale protests were held throughout the United States, including in Trenton, in response to the death of George Floyd, who died on May 25, 2020, while in the custody of the Minneapolis Police Department. Although the protest in Trenton was peaceful earlier in the day, violence erupted later. A group of individuals proceeded down East State Street and began to smash store fronts, loot stores, and attack multiple marked Trenton Police Department vehicles.
A street camera and other video footage taken by an individual present recorded Dockery light an explosive device and throw it through the open front driver's side window of a Trenton Police Department vehicle. Dockery then removed his shirt and handed it to Melecio, who attempted to stuff the shirt in the gas tank of the police vehicle and ignite it. Melecio was assisted by Justin D. Spry, who was charged in a criminal complaint on June 2, 2020, for his role in the riot. Law enforcement officers on scene observed Spry as he attempted to ignite the vehicle.

Ma left the CIA in 1989 and lived and worked in Shanghai, China before arriving in Hawaii in 2001.
According to court documents, Ma and his relative (identified as co-conspirator #1) conspired with each other and multiple PRC intelligence officials to communicate classified national defense information over the course of a decade. The scheme began with three days of meetings in Hong Kong in March 2001 during which the two former CIA officers provided information to the foreign intelligence service about the CIA's personnel, operations, and methods of concealing communications. Part of the meeting was captured on videotape, including a portion where Ma can be seen receiving and counting $50,000 in cash for the secrets they provided.
The court documents further allege that after Ma moved to Hawaii, he sought employment with the FBI in order to once again gain access to classified U.S. government information which he could in turn provide to his PRC handlers. In 2004, the FBI's Honolulu Field Office hired Ma as a contract linguist tasked with reviewing and translating Chinese language documents. Over the following six years, Ma regularly copied, photographed and stole documents that displayed U.S. classification markings such as "SECRET." Ma took some of the stolen documents and images with him on his frequent trips to China with the intent to provide them to his handlers. Ma often returned from China with thousands of dollars in cash and expensive gifts, such as a new set of golf clubs.

The indictment alleges that from May 2019 to February 2020, the defendants conspired in Philadelphia and elsewhere to arrange for the purchase of petroleum from the Islamic Republic of Iran, in violation of United States economic sanctions imposed on Iran, for sale to a refinery in the People's Republic of China. They also allegedly conspired to launder the proceeds of the sale through shell entities and offshore financial accounts to disguise the nature of the transaction. The defendants are charged with conspiring to purchase sanctioned Iranian petroleum, to sell the petroleum to a Chinese refinery, to conceal the origin of the petroleum (including by bribing a Chinese official), and to obtain Antigua passports to open Swiss bank accounts through which the proceeds would be laundered.
In February 2020, the defendants were arrested pursuant to a criminal complaint. As previously reported, the defendants planned two shipments of oil per month going forward, all for an expected profit of roughly $28 million-per-month.
If convicted, the defendants face a maximum possible sentence of 45 years' imprisonment, a $1.75 million fine, a three-year term of supervised release, and a $300 special assessment.
The case was investigated by the FBI and is being prosecuted by First Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams and Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael J. Rinaldi and in partnership with Trial Attorney David Recker of the Department of Justice's National Security Division, Counterintelligence and Export Control Section.

74 Facing Federal Charges for Crimes Committed During Portland Riots
Seventy-four people are facing federal charges for crimes committed during rioting in Portland in recent months.
Unrest has shaken Oregon's largest city since May 28.
The people charged include Dakota Means, 20, accused of assaulting a federal officer on Aug. 24; Gabriel Agard-Berryhill, 18, accused of throwing a bomb at the federal courthouse in downtown Portland on July 28; and Richard Lindstedt, 33, accused of operating a drone in restricted airspace in late July.
Other crimes include damaging federal property and failing to obey lawful orders.
"Violent agitators have hijacked any semblance of First Amendment protected activity, engaging in violent criminal acts and destruction of public safety," Oregon's U.S. Attorney Billy Williams said in a statement.

Former KC Fire Captain Pleads Guilty To Illegally Selling Firearms to Felons
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A former captain in the Kansas City, Missouri, Fire Department pleaded guilty in federal court today to charges related to illegally selling 77 firearms over a five-year period, and to selling firearms to convicted felons.
"Our gun laws exist to make it hard for violent criminals to obtain the tools of their trade," Garrison said. "Felons, illegal aliens, domestic abusers, drug users, and other prohibited persons cannot purchase or possess firearms — unless someone breaks the law to put guns in their hands. These criminals may not pull the trigger, but they profit by making violent crime possible in our neighborhoods."
James Samuels, 54, of Kansas City, Mo., pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Gary A. Fenner to one count of conspiracy to make false statements during the purchase of firearms, one count of engaging in the business of dealing firearms without a license, four counts of selling firearms and ammunition to persons prohibited by law from possessing them, and one count of possessing an unregistered firearm. Samuels, who has been in federal custody without bond since his arrest on Oct. 4, 2018, remains in federal custody until his sentencing hearing, which has not yet been scheduled.
By pleading guilty today, Samuels admitted that he purchased 77 firearms from November 2013 to August 2018. Of those 77 firearms, 57 were Jimenez pistols. Samuels transferred 47 of those 77 firearms to third parties (including 43 Jimenez pistols). During this time, Samuels was not a licensed dealer of firearms.
Samuels also admitted that 10 to 20 of those firearms were sold to persons who were forbidden by law from possessing them. Samuels bought the firearms at a low price and sold them for a $40 to $50 profit.
Samuels conspired with others to make false statements to federally licensed firearms dealers by misrepresenting the identity of the actual buyer of firearms. Samuels purchased firearms then transferred ownership to another person, who later reported the firearms had been stolen.
Samuels was arrested on Oct. 4, 2018, following an undercover operation in which he sold an Armscor of the Philippines .38-caliber revolver to a confidential informant whom he knew to be a felon. Law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Samuels's residence the same day and seized 28 firearms (including 22 handguns, five rifles and one shotgun). Among the firearms seized was a Glock .40-caliber pistol with a TAC Isran GLR 440 stock installed, which was not registered to Samuels, and a Colt .45-caliber pistol, which had been reported stolen. In addition to the firearms, officers seized approximately 12,000 rounds of assorted ammunition, as well as firearm parts and accessories.
The Oct. 4, 2018, transaction is one of four instances cited in today's plea agreement in which the same confidential informant, whom Samuels knew was a felon and thus prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition, purchased a firearm and ammunition from Samuels. In each of those four instances, Samuels accompanied the confidential informant and an undercover federal agent to a licensed firearms dealer, where the undercover agent completed the paperwork for the straw purchase of the firearm on behalf of the confidential informant. In each instance, the straw purchase was at the direction of Samuels.
Under the terms of today's plea agreement, Samuels acknowledges that he has the ability to pay a fine and agrees that $11,282 seized by law enforcement officers during the execution of the search warrant at his residence will be applied to any fine imposed by the court.
Under federal statutes, Samuels is subject to a sentence of up to 60 years in federal prison without parole. The maximum statutory sentence is prescribed by Congress and is provided here for informational purposes, as the sentencing of the defendant will be determined by the court based on the advisory sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled after the completion of a presentence investigation by the United States Probation Office.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brad K. Kavanaugh. It was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department.

Arsonist Who Threw Molotov Cocktail Into Missouri Planned Parenthood Clinic Sentenced To Prison

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – A Columbia, Missouri, man was sentenced in federal court today for the arson at the Columbia Health Center (operated by Planned Parenthood Great Plains).
"This defendant's criminal behavior placed the community in an unacceptable risk of danger," Garrison said. "We will not tolerate the use of violence and arson as a means to achieve personal political or policy goals. This attack is the antithesis of everything for which the best ideals of this nation have always stood.
"The FBI special agents on this difficult case exemplified outstanding investigative skills in locating and evaluating the evidence that enabled us to identify the arsonist and quickly bring him to justice," Garrison added.
Wesley Brian Kaster, 43, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Brian C. Wimes to five years in federal prison without parole.
On Nov. 21, 2019, Kaster pleaded guilty to one count of maliciously using explosive materials to damage a building owned by an organization that receives federal financial assistance, and one count of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act. Kaster has remained in federal custody without bond since his arrest on March 2, 2019.
Kaster admitted that he manufactured a Molotov cocktail on Feb. 10, 2019. On the same day, he broke the glass in the north entry door of the Columbia Health Center at 711 N. Providence Road and threw the Molotov cocktail into the facility. At approximately 4:10 a.m., the Columbia Fire Department arrived on the scene, investigated the damage caused by the explosive device, and collected evidence. Kaster admitted that he took these actions because Planned Parenthood provided reproductive health services at the facility.
This case was prosecuted by Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael S. Oliver. It was investigated by the Columbia, Mo., Police Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and the FBI.

On Nov. 21, 2019, Kaster pleaded guilty to one count of maliciously using explosive materials to damage a building owned by an organization that receives federal financial assistance, and one count of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act. Kaster has remained in federal custody without bond since his arrest on March 2, 2019.
Kaster admitted that he manufactured a Molotov cocktail on Feb. 10, 2019. On the same day, he broke the glass in the north entry door of the Columbia Health Center at 711 N. Providence Road and threw the Molotov cocktail into the facility. At approximately 4:10 a.m., the Columbia Fire Department arrived on the scene, investigated the damage caused by the explosive device, and collected evidence. Kaster admitted that he took these actions because Planned Parenthood provided reproductive health services at the facility.
This case was prosecuted by Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael S. Oliver. It was investigated by the Columbia, Mo., Police Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and the FBI.

United States Obtains Final Judgement and Permanent Injunction Against Edward Snowden
On Sept. 29, 2020, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia entered a final judgment and permanent injunction against Edward Snowden, a former employee of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and contractor for the National Security Agency (NSA).
In September 2019, the United States filed a lawsuit against Snowden, who published a book entitled Permanent Record in violation of the non-disclosure agreements he signed with both CIA and NSA. The lawsuit alleged that Snowden published his book without submitting it to the agencies for pre-publication review, in violation of his express obligations under the agreements he signed. Additionally, the lawsuit alleges that Snowden has given public speeches on intelligence-related matters, also in violation of his non-disclosure agreements.
The United States' lawsuit did not seek to stop or restrict the publication or distribution of Permanent Record. Rather, under well-established Supreme Court precedent, Snepp v. United States, the government sought to recover all proceeds earned by Snowden because of his failure to submit his publication for pre-publication review in violation of his alleged contractual and fiduciary obligations.
In December 2019, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, found in favor of the United States in the suit against Snowden on the issue of liability and held that Snowden breached his contractual and fiduciary obligations to the CIA and NSA by publishing Permanent Record and giving prepared remarks within the scope of his pre-publication review obligations, but reserved judgment on the scope of these violations or the remedies due to the government. On Tuesday, the court entered judgment in the government's favor in an amount exceeding $5.2 million and imposed a constructive trust for the benefit of the United States over those sums and any further monies, royalties, or other financial advantages derived by Snowden from Permanent Record and 56 specific speeches.
"Edward Snowden violated his legal obligations to the United States, and therefore, his unlawful financial gains must be relinquished to the government," said Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey A. Rosen. "As this case demonstrates, the Department of Justice will not overlook the wrongful actions of those who seek to betray the trust reposed in them and to personally profit from their access to classified national security information."
"Intelligence information should protect our nation, not provide personal profit," said G. Zachary Terwilliger, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. "This judgment will ensure that Edward Snowden receives no monetary benefits from breaching the trust placed in him."
"We will pursue those who take advantage of sensitive positions in government to profit from the classified information learned during their government service," said Jeffrey Bossert Clark, Acting Assistant Attorney General of the Civil Division.
This lawsuit is separate from the criminal charges brought against Snowden for his alleged disclosures of classified information. This lawsuit is a civil action, and based solely on Snowden's failure to comply with the clear pre-publication review obligations included in his signed non-disclosure agreements.
This matter is being handled by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia and the Department of Justice's Civil Division.

A woman convicted of fatally strangling a pregnant woman, cutting her body open, and kidnapping her baby is scheduled to be the first female inmate put to death by the U.S. government in more than six decades, the Justice Department said Friday.
Lisa Montgomery is scheduled to be executed by lethal injection on Dec. 8 at the Federal Correctional Complex in Terre Haute, Indiana. She would be the ninth federal inmate to put to death since the Justice Department resumed executions in July after a nearly 20-year hiatus.
Montgomery was convicted of killing 23-year-old Bobbie Jo Stinnett in the northwest Missouri town of Skidmore in December 2004.
Montgomery drove from her Kansas home to Stinnett's house in Skidmore under the guise of adopting a rat terrier puppy, prosecutors said. When she arrived at the home, Montgomery used a rope to strangle Stinnett, who was eight months pregnant, but Stinnett was conscious and trying to defend herself as Montgomery used a kitchen knife to cut the baby girl from the womb, authorities said.
Prosecutors said Montgomery removed the baby from Stinnett's body, took the child with her, and attempted to pass the girl off as her own.

If someone is "gay" or is attracted to someone of the same sex, why would they want to change their sex in order to date, have sex with or marry someone of the same sex who after their sex change becomes the opposite sex? Why not just date the opposite sex in the first place?

Being gay isn't necessarily the problem: it's the brain washing of them to act, walk, talk, vote, eat, sleep, or live a certain way (typical left-wing alphabet people). I swear it is like they can't survive without the rainbow flag. Just like left-wing blacks attack Conservative blacks for dare voting off of the plantation, left-wing alphabet people attack Conservative alphabet people for voting off of the plantation.
Somewhere down the line, there was a change from "I like men" to "I am a women even though I was born a man. That eventually transformed in to "this is a girl even though it's a boy". How is it possible to say that toddler is female and not male? It's because the "adults" in the room have allowed the destruction of children yet again.
Have you heard of "I Am Jazz"? Same thing. Adults in the room (parents, doctors, media) all supported the transforming of a toddler boy into a trans girl. They pump her so full of hormones that she could not develop proper male genitalia, and had difficultly with the bottom surgery.

Yes, I spent the first nearly 40 years of my life in the Socialist Paradise.
This was no longer the paradise that Comrade Stalin had built for us. They were no longer shot by hundreds of thousands and millions were not imprisoned in concentration camps.
I was born just shortly after Stalin's death, when communism was already beginning to lose its teeth.
The shops already started selling food products and knocking on the door at night did not mean the camp and executions.
Communists and other citizens began to gradually become more prosperous. Some even had the right to use cars.
In the mid-60s, the USSR began to buy bread from the USA and Canada, we practically did not go hungry anymore. And then even foreign things began to appear.
In the mid-70s, the peasants were given documents and they stopped to be slaves on collective farms. Well, not quite stopped, but they already had the opportunity to move to a city or another collective farm.
And in the mid-80s, socialism was generally rotten and a terrible, armed to the teeth, but hungry and cold, empire ceased to exist.

I visited St. Petersburg in 2000. This was when Russia was really opening up. I was struck with how excited the young people seemed to be enjoying their new found freedom and capitalism. It seemed to me the older generation was somewhat lost about their new circumstances.

Yes, it was so. But how quickly the Russians lost their freedom again! Socialism was replaced by state capitalism, which is not much better than socialism. That is, it is not the "free market" that will rule the country, but the firm hand of a government official.
