I don't think the world is ready for driverless cars!

Back in the 60s/70s when San Francisco's BART subway was being built, the original plan was that all the train's operations would be pre-programmed and computer controlled. Thus they would not to drivers (the correct term is motormen) to run the trains.

Well, that idea went over like the proverbial lead balloon!

To this day, the trains are still manned by operators.
