I'd post pieces of the article, but unless you read it yourself, you won't get the hidden, underlying issues the DNC faces.
One point is, they claim the new crop running for office are stand up individuals, moderates of all things, but show me one moderate in the party allowed to express such views today.

Another point is, what one faction of the party wants, the other faction simply abhors, resulting in a continued schism.
Point is, the author may be excited because they're so sick of where the party went and how it imploded, but there's no shaking the Marxist base of the party, the very people that will demand these so-called "Moderates" step inline once seated, furthering the demise of the party.
"Run to the right, act like a Marxist once elected".

E.g., here's a snip from what he claims to be an example of the new Dim candidates, problem is, these people represent the very people the Dim base despises.

"Democrats have an impressive group of challengers — retired Navy SEALs and Army Rangers, former CIA operatives, prosecutors and businesswomen and -men who have grown multimillion-dollar companies. Even a scientist who develops life-changing cures is among the fresh crop of Democratic recruits. Granted, this was a sample of candidates selected by party operatives to be interviewed. Nonetheless, these are serious individuals mounting credible campaigns."

What's the difference between Chuck Schumer and Mitch McConnell?    You might laugh as I did when I read this!
It's pretty important to have thought about party leadership, and WHAT your gonna do, if asked to vote for something against your values or down right stupid, right?  Same with Paul Ryan and Nancy Pelosi - so, where do you stand?   Funny paragraph (my emphasis)

QuoteNancy Pelosi causes smart people to say strange things. Whenever we brought up the former speaker and whether she should continue to be the leader of the House Democrats, candidates were often flummoxed that we would even ask. These smart and successful challengers with advanced degrees, some of whom were involved in military operations in foreign theaters, suddenly lost the ability to think in advance and address a reasonable situation that could happen 12 months from now. Some said they had never even considered how they'd vote for party leadership, given the opportunity. Many of the Democrats were dismissive of the suggestion that the congresswoman from San Francisco would be a factor in their campaigns, which was either a rehearsed talking point or a precursor to a rude awakening when they later learn how Republicans message their campaigns.

Pelosi has a history of cracking the whip to get Democrats back in line - so what are/were they thinking, "Elect me, I'll be like President and do whatever I want."...?  My God!  She's the LEADER of the Democratic side of the House of Representatives, do they think they'll get by with 'lip service'?!?!?

Ahh, you read it.
See what I mean? There is a severe disconnect from reality on the left, the "Click your heels 3 times" shit only works in Hollyweird movies, not in reality.
This whole puff piece is designed as a "Feel Good" moment for the future of the party, a future that simply doesn't exist under the conditions the party created.

OK people, on three, close your eyes real tight, click your heels three times and wish it was 1985 all over again.
One, Two Three.....Four? ummm, 6, 7 8 9 10,   ...  1000, WTF? The party is still in shambles?

They portray "a new day", while they are still deeply stuck in the muck of Hillary, Pelosi, Maxine, Jackson-Lee, Sharpton, Schumer, etc.  Anybody new that they've plugged in is even worse, like Perez, Ellison, Wilson in her new-found role as a "big shot".

They have very little hope going into 2018.  Still, let's no be complacent.  Let's pile on with a vengeance.

topside

Based on the BO years, the democratic plan is consistent and disastrous. They will consistently take action to align with the Marxists agenda - apparently they all are lemmings.

But the republican GOPe plan during the BO era seems to have been to just snipe at the democrats - they had no real plan. I think that they were so surprised that Trump won the POTUS position that they didn't think they really needed a plan. Sniping and obstruction as usual for another four years was their plan. Then ... ruh roh ... Trump won and they actually are on the hook to DO something. But they have no real plan even after eight years sitting dormant to come up with something solid. The GOPe is full of the mentally lazy who didn't prepare for a time when they could actually affect change. Health care repeal was a bald proof of that.

So, as AndrewJackson (previous post) said, the Pubs can't get complacent. I'd go a step farther. They need to start thinking ahead and have an actual plan. Unfortunately, the party is littered with RINOs so making a plan that aligns with Conservative values can only be carried forward by a modest group. And Conservatives will look like obstructionists until enough Conservatives tip the scales and those on the fence slide to the right. But they need to have solid plans in place ... just in case they get the chance to put them through. I pray that we see a shift and they will get that chance starting in 2018.

Exactly!
This is why I posted this weird fluff piece, the moron paints some kind of rosy idea that the party is about to be flooded with moderates, anyway, that may be what they run on, but with the likes of Perez.
There's no way they'll get elected because the party is determined to try Marxism if it kills them, or rather, it has already killed them, they're just too damn thick to see it.

This is one trainwreck I've totally enjoyed watching.

Cryptic Bert

Unless I missed it the article didn't go into and policy specifics. I doubt these candidates are any different than the current establishment democrats. Anyone leaning left who is truly a moderate would see no attraction to the DNC. I would basically have said the same thing about the GOP nine years ago. No true conservative would want to join the GOP. However the Tea Party happened. After the 2010 mid terms conservatives realized they had a great chance to take back the party. I see nothing like that in the DNC.

The GOP was taken over by squishy moderates that just wanted a seat on the gravy train and the DNC is really a party of far left, quasi communists and has been for decades. The Obama administration encouraged them to let the mask fall away.
