Q PATRIOT!!!

topside

This whole idea of hate speech seems like such a snowflake topic ... oops, was that hate speech? I've stayed away from this topic - but decided to wade in for a minute here.

From Dictionary.com:

QuoteSpeech that attacks, threatens, or insults a person or group on the basis of national origin, ethnicity, color, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability.

Certainly a lib definition ... but it's probably as good as any for those who care about it are the libs. I don't care ... until they start trying to add their misdirected ideas into a law. Seems that those who contemplate such ideas as "hate speech" extend the definition to include about any topic they disagree with. Once you go down that slope, who is to decide? I can see it ... libs convince the courts that the First Amendment doesn't protect against hate speech and we end up with a 5000 page bill to cover all the cases. Then we start the Hate Speech Protection Agency (HSPA). Sounds like something Ayn Rand would have invented (Atlas Shrugged).

My Definition (yes, I can make up definitions too):

Snowflake:
1) One who values their uniqueness from all others and melts in the presence of personal friction that conflicts with what they think makes them so unique.
2) One who is continually on the lookout for hate speech.

And, no, there is no Constitutional provision that discriminates this "type" of speech - whatever definition is made up for it. When an insult or attack becomes an action (attack) then the constitution kicks in. Is someone threatening to kill you? Are you enslaved against your will? Is your family being burned in a furnace? Did you fight on a battlefield and see your friends die? Did someone rape your wife?

Hate speech, really? Get over it. If anything, words that are genuinely full of hate let us know when we should pull our weapon. It's called an actionable threat. Learn to know the difference. The term and definition of hate speech is useless.

Yawn. Done with this topic.

Nailed it.
Even hateful speech has a place in America, and I'll fight to retain a libs right to expose their bigotry any day!
The whole concept of limiting any speech is subjective and based solely on how on "FEELS" at the moment, whether it should have been taken in jest, an attack, or completely out of context is left to the individual that heard it.
God knows, our Founders were smart enough to have recognized one of the greatest strengths is man's ability for communication, stifle it, and you have a slave, arm him with speech and a weapon, he'll remain free as long as he demands.

I can almost visualize his facial expressions and hear the sarcastic jabs. Now, that would have been entertaining!  I wanted to write a piece that would imitate what Rickles might say but found this "roast" he did on the Dims (hope you haven't already seen it):

QuoteHello, dummies!

Oh my God, look at you. Anyone else hurt in the accident? Seriously, Senator Reid has a face of a Saint – A Saint Bernard. Now I know why they call you the arithmetic man. You add partisanship, subtract pleasure, divide attention, and multiply ignorance. Reid is so physically unimposng; he makes Pee Wee Herman look like Mr. T. And Reid's so dumb; he makes Speaker Pelosi look like an intellectual. Nevada is soooo screwed! If I were less polite, I'd say Reid makes Kevin Federline look successful.

Speaking of the Speaker... Nancy Pelosi, hubba, hubba! Hey baby, you must've been something before electricity. Seriously, the Speaker may look like an idiot and talk like an idiot but don't let that fool you. She really is an idiot.
Madame Speaker... want to make twelve bucks the hard way? Pelosi says she's not partisan, but her constituents call her Madame Pelossilini.

Charlie Rangel... still alive and still robbing the taxpayers blind. What does that make, six decades of theft? Rangel's the only man with a rent-controlled mansion.

He's the guy who writes our tax laws but forgot to pay taxes on $75 grand in rental income! So why isn't he the Treasury Secretary? Rangel runs more scams than a Nigerian Banker.

Barney Frank – he's a better actor than Fred Flintstone. Consider... he and Dodd caused the whole financial meltdown and they're not only not serving time with Bubba and Rodney, they're still heading up the financial system!

Let's all admit it... Barney Frank slobbers more than a sheepdog on novocaine. How did this guy get elected? Oh, that's right... he's from Massachusetts . That's the state that elects Mr. Charisma, John Kerry —  man of the people!

You know, if Senator Dodd were any more crooked, you could open wine bottles with him. Here's a news flash, Dodd: when your local newspaper calls you a "lying weasel", it may be time to retire. Dodd's involved in more shady deals than the Clintons . Even Rangel looks up to him!

Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, I really respect you... especially given your upbringing. All you've overcome... I heard your birth certificate is an apology from the condom factory. I don't know what makes you so dumb, but it really works for you. Personally, I don't think you are a fool, but what's my opinion compared to that of thousands of others? Gibbs does his best expositional work in the bathroom every morning.

As for President Obama, what can I say? They say President Obama's arrogant and aloof, but I don't agree. Now it's true when you enter the room, you have to kiss his ring. I don't mind, but he has it in his back pocket. His mind is open to new ideas — so open that ideas simply pass through it.

Obama lies so much, I was actually surprised to find out his first name really was Barack. Just don't ask about his middle name! But Obama was able to set a record... he actually lied more in 60 days than Bill Clinton. As far as his administration — what with the tax cheat and lobbyists — well, in the words of Patches O'Houlihan, "It's like watching a bunch of retards trying to hump a doorknob out there."

With all due respect.
FOR THOSE THAT VOTED FOR "HOPE AND CHANGE"......BEND OVER AND PREPARE TO RECEIVE YOUR BOUNTY."

I have no proof that Don Rickles did this piece, but the site attributes it to him.

Hate speech is when you win an argument against a liberal.

Hate often. Hate at the top of your voice, wherever and whenever liberals are found.

Hey - watch that hate speech! Hammerhead sharks have feelings too, you know.

Also, you meant "looked like" ... Rickles died not too long ago. I was never very fond of his type of humor, but he was always around when I was growing up so a part of the old-school culture that was just there. Not quite in the Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Dean Martin crowd but similar. He was about as non-PC as it got in the public limelight. The angle on his act was intended to push the line and step over ... make people laugh and squirm in their chairs at the same time. His approach to comedy was unique.
