'Rich kids of Instagram meets Hunger Games': Guests at luxury festival where tickets cost $12,000 'mugged, stranded and hungry'
What they paid out the ass for, and what they got was a real eye-opener to the real world.

It was supposed to be the most glamorous event of the year, with all the selfie opportunities and flower-crowns a young, gym-bodied social media influencer could dream of. But Fyre Festival, an elite concert event on a deserted island in the Bahamas with tickets priced up to $12,000 has quickly turned into a terrifying B-movie, with flocks of Instagram models forced to seek shelter in an airport after arriving to discover a lack of food, violent locals, appalling accommodation and feral dogs roaming the grounds.

As a result, social media has exploded overnight with tales of Instagram-filtered terror and disappointment, with beautiful festival-goers arriving on the island to discover half-built tents, their luggage being thrown out of the back of a truck, muggers and thieves laying in wait to steal wallets from trust fund kids, unhelpful staff, and "gourmet cuisine" that turned out to be nothing but ham and cheese sandwiches.

One woman, who paid $10,000 for a VIP ticket, reportedly left her belongings in a half-erected tent, only to have them stolen minutes later. "One guy got punched out by security and they took his wallet," claimed one festival-goer on Reddit, while others claimed that local residents on the island have been assaulting Fyre Festival attendees.

Next time (if there is one!), cut down on the charges of running "a FEMA death camp" by hiring Jamaicans who stay off the ganja until the tents are up and the food made ready.

The other view: had this been an actual FEMA death camp we'd be wearing party hats that they found that many rich suckers to fleece (and then screw over so thoroughly). Lawsuits will eat thing alive. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of social slime.

What I find funny are the tents. I can't imagine they paid that much money to sleep in tents.

Holy gravy and grits. Theses idiots paid $12,000 for something less than Woodstock, including the music. At least Woodstock had music along with the violence, poverty and mud.

Nope. A conservative is not going to pay $12,000 dollars for a concert that would normally cost $100.00

The ones that raked in all the money was either on a yacht offshore looking and laughing while popping the corks on $10,000 bottles of Armand de Brignac Brut Rose Champagne at the liberals who paid $10,000 to sleep in a tent and eat cheese sammies or in Chicago dancing and rapping away on the liberal's dime.

Yale College Republicans Taunt Grad Student 'Hunger Strikers' With Barbecue, Corn and Baked Beans

A conservative Yale University student group hosted a barbecue on Friday several feet away from a self-styled graduate student union participating in a "hunger strike" to protest the university administration.

Members of the Yale College Republicans served barbecued beef, baked beans and corn to the campus community – just inches away from hunger striking members of the "union", Local 33, which is protesting Yale's refusal to treat them like a real union and negotiate.

Local 33 were widely mocked on social media after a leaflet calling for action resurfaced saying that graduate students will go on "hungry strike" until they get hungry, at which time they will be replaced with other protesting students.

I got an idea, next election we arrange some phony concert like this one on some isolated island and charge them some exorbitant fee. We keep them there so they don't vote and turn the money over to the (TEA) candidate of our choice. We actually feed them though, we advertise "earth friendly" and "Vegan"  meals like tofu burgers and pine nuts. Anything to sucker them in.

A conservative isn't going to spend 12,000 dollars on a concert they can see for 100. A conservative isn't going to spend that kind of money and fly to an island site unseen. And conservatives certainly won't pay 250,000 to see Bink-182.

Why even bother going to a concert where people are screaming louder than the event?
Last one I went to was a David Benois concert back in the 80s, couldn't hear the music over the idiots that thought clapping to the beat was a good idea.
Ushers finally asked them to leave, with only 20 minutes left in the show.
There went 12 bucks.

That was the only one I ever paid for. I tried to get into the Beach Boys concert in 1963 at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium for their first live album recording but it was sold out, standing outside I realized the crowd was louder than the band.
I really don't get the appeal of being smashed together, be it seating, or an outdoor event, people tend to be extremely inconsiderate at these venues.
My neighbor went to see Rush the band, she was sooo pissed because they kicked her out for being too noisy, told her to quit whistling and screaming, others were trying to listen to the music.
She couldn't get it, she said: "It's Rush for crying out loud, it's rock n roll!" I told her we're getting older and maybe people actually went there to relive memories, and your noise wasn't a part of it? Yep, stupid lib...
Yeah, I could handle an opera crowd a whole lot easier.

There's a major concert venue near my house.
It's an outdoor pavilion, so you can hear the music a few blocks away.
A few years ago, Journey was performing there,
and outside the place, these women in their 50s and 60s
were gyrating like they were 18.
I can't unsee that.

(*hums "Won't Be Fooled Again"*) How would you know it's the original dead guys?

For that money they'd best toss in gourmet meals, quality booze (labels mandatory), backstage passes, the after-concert party and jet travel/limo back home. And snacks.

The founder of Fyre Festival was arrested and charged with fraud

Billy McFarland, the promoter behind the failed Bahamas music festival, was arrested Friday in New York on a wire fraud charge. He faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison if convicted.

Federal prosecutors accused McFarland, 25, of promising a "life changing" music festival," when instead he delivered "a disaster." He was charged with scheming to defraud investors in his company, Fyre Media and Fyre Festival that was supposed to take place on the island of Exuma over two weekends in April and May.

Billy McFarland, the founder of the disastrous Fyre Festival, has been arrested and charged with wire fraud, the Department of Justice said Friday.

Prosecutors allege McFarland, 25, used false information to get at least individuals to invest $1.2 million Fyre Festival, which was supposed to take place over two weekends in the Bahamas.

"As alleged, William McFarland promised a 'life-changing' music festival but in actuality delivered a disaster," said Acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District  Joon Kim in a statement. "McFarland allegedly presented fake documents to induce investors to put over a million dollars into his company and the fiasco called the Fyre Festival. Thanks to the investigative efforts of the FBI, McFarland will now have to answer for his crimes."

Perhaps the court might mete out some creative sentencing and confine him to the same conditions attendees faced at the Fyre Festival for a few months. That might be a form of justice the victims of this debacle could appreciate.

These people mean nothing to me, never heard of them but the article say's:

The rapper's attorney says that Atkins isn't a target of the DoJ investigation — at least to this point:

Stacey Richman, a lawyer for Ja Rule, whose real name is Jeffrey Atkins, said that he had not been arrested. "Mr. Atkins is not under arrest and we don't perceive him to be a subject of this investigation," Ms. Richman said.
