It ain't about "AR 15's" or "Assault Rifles"   

The bill prohibits the "sale, transfer, production, and importation" of semi-automatic rifles and pistols that can hold a detachable magazine, as well as semi-automatic rifles with a magazine that can hold more than 10 rounds. Additionally, the legislation bans the sale, transfer, production, and importation of semi-automatic shotguns with features such as a pistol grip or detachable stock, and ammunition feeding devices that can hold more than 10 rounds.

Most American's handgun and longguns are semi-automatic.  Most firearms produced by gun manufacturers are therefore semi automatic.  This would bankrupt the gun manufacturers and outlaw semi automatics, under the the pretext of banning "assault rifles".   

This is stupid, it'll never pass anyway. So why even waste Congress time?

I don't think it will have the effect they are hoping for.

Especially after Trump gets a robust program of securing schools up and running, and it's well-received.

But this MAY make a good pro-GOP commercial.  "Remember when the democrats claimed that all they wanted was to ban automatic weapons of war ?"

Pretty funny to think that the fastest guns would be revolvers and lever-action.  But they would start calling them "assault weapons" right away.

The only way the Left ever wins is by generating enough emotional hysteria that people never read the fine print.  Things like " The Fairness Doctrine" are a good example of this.  Who could be against "Fairness"!

The issue that the Dems do not want to deal with is just making sure that firearms of any type don't fall into the wrong hands.  Before we closed our nation's state mental institutions we had no school shootings or mass murders.  Things changed and dangerous people have been allowed to be at large in our society (including our schools) until they actually commit a crime.

There's a very good reason why Reagan cut their funding. Most people don't even know about this beyond movies, but it's true and the last group you want in charge of this is the govt, think "Political Prisoners".

Yeah, so they'll take away guns from the law abiding citizens so just 10 kids are killed instead of 17.  That will make everyone pleased as peaches.

Well, no. When the ten kids are killed it will be back to the drawing board and now we take away all semi auto pistols.
After the next shootings that leave 6 kids dead, back to the drawing board and take away all revolvers and bolt action rifles.
See how easy this works. Only one small problem, President Trump!!! Dims need to come up with a plan to take away President Trump,

And what about shotguns and 00 buck loads?  Do you know what could be done in a classroom with one of those?  It wouldn't be pretty.  So both shotguns and 00 buck would have to be banned.

Liberals want to ban all guns. They are just doing it in steps (this type first, this capacity next) or a backdoor way (legislation that has the same effect as a ban) so that the average person will not realize it.

Watch the democrat tactics closely. Always keep in mind their ultimate goal is to take every citizens' guns. There is universal support for better, more complete background checks. Do not be surprised if democrats oppose that unless more stringent controls on gun purchases are not included.

It is an interesting phenomenon.  I figure there's 5% classic liberals who own guns and appreciate them, and don't want confiscation.

I think there's 30% hardcore communists who know that confiscation is mandatory to reach their communist goals.

Then there's probably 65% who are tragically stupid, who believe whatever the communists tell them, and fold in their own hysteria and foolishness.
