Before we go too far down the road with leftists revising our own history, here some excerpts from a very well put together Wiki page on Tea Party. It is almost unbelievable that left wingers would do a wholesale rewrite on history that occurred less than 15 years ago, but,  that's how they roll. Listening to the left, we are led to think the Tea began with the election of Barack. That's exactly the narrative they want everyone to buy.  There can be no doubt Barack Obama has fueled Tea Party growth, but the movement includes Ron Paul, who sought the 2008 nomination, and well before.

Tea Party Movement

The Tea Party movement is an American political movement known for its conservative positions and its role in the Republican Party ("GOP"). It demands a reduction in the U.S. national debt and federal budget deficit by reducing government spending and taxes.... has been described as a mix of libertarian, populist, and conservative activists....sponsored multiple protests ...Various polls have found that slightly over 10% of Americans identify....have cited the original Boston Tea Party as their inspiration.... In 2002, a Tea Party website was published by Citizens for a Sound Economy and stated ...."taxes are too high and the tax code is too complicated."

Tea Party, with its lack of formal structure or hierarchy....has generally sought to avoid placing too much emphasis on traditional conservative social issues.... have expressed concern that engaging in social issues would be divisive.... The Tea Party generally focuses on government reform, including a significant reduction in the size and scope of the government..

In September 2005... a large scale "Tea Party" protest against illegal immigration in Birmingham, AL.  ...On January 24, 2009.... Trevor Leach, chairman of the Young Americans for Liberty in New York State organized a "Tea Party" to protest obesity taxes proposed by New York Governor David Paterson.

Some of the protests were partially in response to several federal laws: the Bush administration's Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, and the Obama administration's economic stimulus package the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 The bailouts of banks by the Bush and Obama administrations triggered the Tea Party's rise, according to political analyst Scott Rasmussen.

New York Times journalist Kate Zernike reported that leaders within the Tea Party credit Seattle blogger and conservative activist Keli Carender with organizing the first Tea Party in February 2009, although the term "Tea Party" was not used. Other articles, written by Chris Good of The Atlantic and NPR's Martin Kaste, credit Carender as "one of the first" Tea Party organizers and state that she "organized some of the earliest Tea Party-style protests".

I dissagree! The movement sprang from the ashes of the damage the Establishment did under Bush.
Their track record with Bush 41, Dole and finally McCon trashing Palin was the match that lit TEA as a fire for change.

Revision is the tool of leftists, but truth is the weapon of the Right.

My memory of it was because of the Bush and Obama bail outs.  It also seemed to pick up steam over the Obamacare socialist scheme..
The danger to America is not Barack Obama but the citizens capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency.

What a corny little slogan that was.

The tea party is merely a party funded by ultra rich billionaries who exploit people without the intellectual defense to know better.

The left lies.  The right lies.  To pretend otherwise is utterly embarrassing.  Also, the idea that history can never be reviewed and rethought about is absurd and ridiculous.  Often, we learn most about our History when documents are declassified and we learn that we had been lied too.

Certainly the right have told their fair share of lies. IE, Iraq war.

Speaking of lies, Cupcake, you might wish to do some impartial reading on the subject and you'll find it was a grass-roots operation and not funded by "billionairies" as you so amusingly allege. (BILLIONAIRIES? What's that, a Horoscope sign?)

As for "exploit(ing) people without the intellectual defense to know better," of course this reeks with undeserved superiority buttressed by your definitely troll-like behavior.

No, its funded by billionaires...cool story though.

Happy 800th Birthday, Magna Carta... which was a tax-revolt, basically.

But today's TEA Party is rivaled only by 'The Whiskey Rebellion' in around 1790-ish, as far as impact on the Country's social-economic policies.  Jefferson and the then Republicans came to power and cancelled the whiskey-tax.  People rise-up, Government backs-down.  That's the way it'll always be here

A billion primping obama's can't change that fact.

What funding?  You need to post links to your sources.

I agree with you....except the majority of the AMerican people disagree with the tea party on virtually every single point.

Like for example, they want to raise taxes on the rich.

One poll does not a nation make. Take YOUR poll, for example.

We need a flat tax where everyone has skin in the game across the board.

For every 100 dollars you earn, you have to give the government 10.
