The Hart episode is almost universally remembered as a tale of classic hubris. A Kennedy-like figure on a fast track to the presidency defies the media to find anything nonexemplary in his personal life, even as he carries on an affair with a woman half his age and poses for pictures with her, and naturally he gets caught and humiliated. How could he not have known this would happen? How could such a smart guy have been that stupid?

I heard a few of his speech-snippets back then, but I don't recall having an opinion of Hart at the time; good or bad.  I just knew he was probably a force to be reckoned with at some point. 

John, Bobby, and Teddy were libidinous, and the MSM covered their ... Hart did the same, but the MSM did not. I think the Ds have reasserted their control since then, though, and the MSM only expose Rs' dalliances unless forced to, ala John Edwards.

haha, what classic history re-write to simply create a fabulous liberal superman.  Along the way, they excuse Kennedy and Johnson's filthy adultery as "just the way it was".

Apparently Hart had GWB beat, and was easily the best president ever. 

Hart was just another amoral / immoral narcissist democrat hack.  But this is what we're up against, a whole industry of liberal fictional history.....that liberals will for the most part believe.  And academia, MSM, Hollywood, will continue to endorse it and try to make it into "real" history.

They're always working hard to re-write Reagan out of everything he accomplished, making Lincoln gay and democrat, and so on.

It was all Nixon's fault really.  Because adultery and lying and cheating should have still been OK, but Nixon poisoned the well.

It was because Rice was such a nasty ho (shades of Clinton strategies).

The woman who blew the whistle is really, really sorry about it; she knows she was wrong; she knows Hart was wonderful.

If only Hart hadn't been cheated out of the presidency, the ME wars wouldn't have happened and we'd have peace in our time.

It's like all of our MSM is being written by 13-year-olds.  Just making up the most egregious bullshit, and having absolutely no worries about it.

On a side note...did you see the mug on Mrs. Hart  ?  wow, I'd be looking elsewhere too if I'd been Hart.

They are given CONSTITUTIONAL protection to tell the citizens what is going on.

Yet, they pick and choose what stories to cover.  They did not do this to Obama.

It is amazing how much has changed in that small amount of time. If we had the MSM of today back when this happened, they would have found a way to tamp it down and make Hart win.  The MSM was still chasing down people of both parties back then........unlike today's that only goes after GOP / TP.

Where's Woodward and Bernstein when we need someone to look into the IRS stuff of today?

We know they're Obama-Clinton communists, so no surprise there.

But what I don't get is where the young guys are looking for their big break, just as those guys did then.

Has the media beaten down ALL possible democrat investigation, even if it means no careers / awards for those who would get them  ?  Journalists are now just foregoing Pulitzers and career-makers, if it's not approved by the home team  ?

Hart, a fancy schmancy pretty boy Like Kennedy, Kennedy..... who obtained Office by being cozy with organized crime, then got us involved in a "Limited war" in Vietnam.....yeah Hart would have been right in the mold.

I don't care if they sleep with the entire neighborhood. So long as A: Their partner is over the age of 18, and willingly consenting to the dalliance.

And B: They vote, and act in accordance with the Constitution in the performance of their duties in public office.
