Rather than compromise, couldn't you "compromise"? That is, sing a slightly different tune once in office?
Think double crossing the Devil, and think of the final outcome.
As an individual up against connected people with an agenda, much like the mob, they have far more resources at their disposal to destroy you.
All you have is your integrity intact within, which they know to be your Achilles tendon, but after they're done with you, no one else would ever believe yours was real, because it's the one thing you have that makes you who you are, they'll destroy it to bolster their own.

Like accusing a thief of stealing, only to find yourself arrested for the very same offense.
All because you wanted to do the right thing, the thief used his network of friends to plant evidence to frame you as a thief, in turn destroying your credibility.

This is politics, not a paper route, know what you're getting into, politics by itself is a masterful blood sport.

Geesh. That's ominous. Well, I can't say I blame you under those circumstances. Do you find that at every level? City council?

YES!!! Even the Girl Scouts has it's very own blood thirsty hierarchy/politics.
There will always be people with an agenda, and sadly that's human nature, or rather Liberalism.

lol, we've lived through the Boy Scouts capitulation to Gay Inc.      Mostly to kowtow to the earlier corporate capitulation, by the big donors.

Luckily most parents weren't going to give up their sons' Eagle Scout in protest.  But a few turned heel and walked out.

That actually makes sense. I have an aunt who used to be pretty high up with the local chapter or whatever of the Girl Scouts and she's a cutthroat businesswoman. VP of some big company out here. She used to love firing people but only if they deserved it. Personally, I think that would suck even if they were slacking off or whatever. Maybe I don't have what it takes to make it in politics.

Thick skin, very very thick skin.
Sociopaths make the best polls, they have no conscience, they could care less what people think of them, and they have no issue in doing what it takes to accomplish their goals.
However, that's not to say good people shouldn't run for office, I'm just saying it wasn't for me.

Billy's bayonet

Back around 2000 I was asked to run for Sheriff Of Culpepper County Virginia. Republican of course. I had just returned from overseas and was thinking about starting my own security agency/school nearby. I went around talking to people and was surprised how much support I got even from the incumbents deputies.  I wouldn't have won, too many Clinton Democrats with too much money and that Virginia good ol' boy network. Anyhow I went back overseas...glad I did.

I'm being rather forcefully "suggested" as a replacement for a township trustee who recently resigned. (I currently serve as an alternate zoning committee member.)

The deeper I get, the more it stinks.

Get in deep and spray some perfume. That's the only way we can change all of this.

Swing and a miss. I'm saying I support conservatives in office. If that means offering some concessions to RINOs to get into office, go for it. It's called politics.

No, claiming you will do something while you hold a political office, or that you will carry out the business of the people you are there to represent in a certain fashion, or that you believe in a particular ideology, when you know you full well that you have zero intention of doing so, or that no you don't believe in that ideology, is not called politics, it is called lying.

IF we want true change effected in this nation it must be done the "right" way.

Starting out, by repeating the exact same behaviour as well that of Rino's or Dims, is the wrong way.

Because it's no different, than well just another, run of the mill, lying liberal dimocrap or Rino-repubican.

Read my later post where I further explain what I said to those who have a hard time understanding. Always a good idea to read a whole thread before responding.

So in other words, you think it's OK to lie to voters, to get elected.

You're not part of the solution, Sparky.

I think that's strike two. Maybe stick to t-ball.
