Has anyone here ever run for a political office?

If so, what was the experience like? What did you run for? How did you get started?

Solar

I've been approached twice, once as Mayor for the city of Folsom Ca, the other as district Rep of my County.
BUT!!! Both we're money oriented RINO interests, and I wanted no part of it, especially my County position, where the backers we're huge developers with their sights on turning a beautiful part of Ca into the pit the valley has already become.

That's the problem with politics, it takes money and lots of it, and unfortunately everyone wants something, which requires the taxpayer footing the Bill.
The sad part is, those backers are usually not from the area.

Did they approach you because of this site? If not, how did they hear about you?

Well known as a business owner. In Folsom, I had several health clubs, and here in El Dorado County, I owned Sierra Electric Solar and was active in local politics.

Interesting. Active how? Volunteering? Donations?

Speaking and campaigning for my Rep, and it was he that introduced me to his backers because he thought I could replace him after his term was up.
I just couldn't do it, I refuse to compromise on values.

Rather than compromise, couldn't you "compromise"? That is, sing a slightly different tune once in office?

Are you saying you support liars for office?

Swing and a miss. I'm saying I support conservatives in office. If that means offering some concessions to RINOs to get into office, go for it. It's called politics.

So you support the continued surrender of true conservative values, in order to get along? That is the definition of Republican in Name Only --- a liar on the campaign trail and a weasel while in office.

You really have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about 99% of the time or you just willingly fabricate nonsense and pull random misguided conclusions out of your butt to intentionally try to smear me because of some previous time that you failed to comprehend what I was saying. Either way, I'm done responding to your lies and distortions. You must have a history working on a dem campaign team the way you just spin nonsense. Normal people understood what I said so I'll leave it at that.

My "lies and distortions" were questions you refuse to answer, mainly because you cannot. I do not believe compromise is necessary or possible in today's superheated partisan Congress. I believe gridlock WORKS. I believe anyone who compromises their principles is a liar and cannot be trusted. I therefore mistrust all politicians, most particularly liberal Republicans. Dems don't know any better. RINOs do.

I have never been a Democrat. The two Dems I have voted for were both sad disappointment and their party a ridiculous greedy failure. Keep your infantile speculation where it belongs, and next time --- WIPE.

I "refuse" to answer your questions because they're so off-base that they don't warrant an answer.

Let me try one more time to explain it to you and hopefully you'll get it. Let me preface by saying it depends on what values Solar is referring to. So that being said, if a Republican approached me and asked me to run for office, to give me the opportunity to stand for true conservative principles, to put me in a position to have a true political voice, to allow me to have a say in establishing those conservative principles, but in return I had to do something like endorse a candidate I was on the fence about, I would do it. I wouldn't like it. But if doing something like that one time put me in a position to do good a thousand times over, I'm doing it. Again, it all depends on what "it" is. If something illegal or against God's law, not a chance.
