And they make that claim at the very same moment (for some of them) that they are make uber-violent movies such as Blue Velvet, Natural Born Killers, etc, etc, which glorifies senseless violence and desensitizes its audience to the suffering of others.

If anyone has blood on their hands, it's Hollywood and the Liberal Entertainment Complex.

I think it's worth mentioning, that Chris Dodd, former senator and the sponsor of a bunch of bills that screwed the country, is now the head lobbyist for Hollywood.

It's not just fear of retaliation, as you know, Red State people are DIFFERENT.  They respect other human beings. It is the Blue State peeps that lost their humanity.  They mock southerners, but they are the best an most respectful people you'll ever meet--both black and white folks.  That's why they're so hated by the intolerant Left.

This is true. My wife was born and raised in CA. I dragged her to NC, and she couldn't believe how nice people are. Color doesn't matter.............that I can see. If racism rears it's head, I piss on it.

You could wait a long time for the Left to admit that their policies of deinstitutionalizing the mentally disturbed might be at fault.

That and the policy of filling our kids up with behavioral modifying drugs which seems to set them off.

I agree completely. The media is a branch of the democrat party.

I've got a separate, and contentious argument brewing on FB over this entire subject. The usual suspects calling for gun control.

Just 5 minutes ago I posted this:
Hold on a second..............I'll copy and paste my last two posts.

Him-  As said Mark, while the paranoia of the Forefathers rules the thinking, you can't change this.

Me- Yeah Drake, I guess you're right. I don't know what the forefathers were thinking. Never before in history, had the government become the enemy of the people. What a bunch of dummies.
Even today, all government is good, all around the world. To think otherwise would be paranoid. ;-)

Me- Perhaps you're missing the irony..................

Armed American citizens is a bad thing that should be eliminated.

Arming rebel forces across the mid east, and helping them to overthrow their governments is a good thing.

Add to that arming narcoterrorist insurgents in Mexico who kill US citizens is a "good thing" or a good way to stop gun violence.....

I had a moment of clarity earlier, and I believe that our government controls everything. Poverty levels, gun trafficking, drugs, prison populations....................you name it. It's all a balancing act to keep them in charge and growing.

The implications are staggering. If I'm even close to the truth, it would also render all of these conversations moot. I think that there is a distinct possibility that we have already lost our freedom...................completely. We just don't know it yet.

Hello. I am new to this forum and live in a blue state. I just have to share an exchange and conversation that I have had, in one form or another, over and over since the shooting.

Me: "I am from Texas. I was raised around guns. All of my family members owned guns. None of them are violent. I think it is very tragic and sad what has happened but I am still in favor of the right to own guns."

Other person: "How could you? What is wrong with people like you? Gun nuts always hide behind their second amendment rights! When the founding fathers wrote the constitution, there was no such thing as an automatic weapon that could gun down dozens of innocent children in one sweep."

Me (grudgingly): "Actually, yes, I am pretty conservative but this is true. Maybe people could still have the right to own rifles and handguns for protection while tougher laws could be passed on automatic weapons. We should possibly look at the media's role in this too. After all, when the founding fathers wrote the constitution, we did not have mass media, either. We did not have 24-hour news channels that broadcast images of violence over and over, or video games that encouraged children, teens, and young adults to think about what it might be like to gun down dozens of people at a time. We also did not have journalists making heroes out of monsters like these by making them virtual overnight celebrities, basically rewarding their behavior by giving them exactly the kind of attention they sought in the first place. So maybe we should pass stricter laws on the media, too."

Other person: "HOW DARE YOU? HOW DARE YOU THREATEN MY FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS BY QUESTIONING THE FREEDOM OF THE PRESS? WHAT KIND OF PERSON ARE YOU?"

True story. I hear it over and over again. Apparently, it is perfectly ok to question the Second Amendment but not ok to ever question the wisdom of the First, even if it involves the incitement of violence and the spreading of smut.

You could point out that they are wrong, they did, in fact, have weapons that could "mow down" many people, and it's ownership was not restricted.  It was/is called a cannon, and as long as it is front load, you can still own one.  Libs like to believe that the founding fathers were these anxious rubes, and they are so much more advanced than they were.
Welcome to the forum.

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary.

Sorry, but no. You had a moment of hysteria.  The government "controls" NOTHING.  They've lost control over the things they're trying to fix. They are inept, with too much power. Their fixes only make matters worse.  They don't know what they are doing. You give them too much credit.

Hysteria huh?

Lets review:

We've got a government that employs thousands and spends billions on the war on drugs...................and refuses to secure the border.

We've got a government that employs thousands and spends billions on the war on poverty..................and actively encourages more people to get on welfare programs, rather than going to work.

We've got a government that employs thousands and spends billions on the war on terrorism................and refuses to employ proven profiling techniques, and again, refuses to secure our border.

We've got a government that employs thousands and spends billions on education.........................and we are now graduating kids that can barely read at the 4th grade level.

We've got a government that imposes stricter and stricter gun laws on law abiding citizens.................and they were recently caught arming the Mexican drug cartels with US assault weapons, that could not be tracked.. All questions were stifled by executive privilege.

Is it crazy to think that the government is behind the flow of illegal guns into the cities, and into the hands of gangs and criminals?
Why? After all, our judicial and prison systems employ thousands and spend billions also. They require a flow of bad guys, to keep functioning and growing.

As these problems continue, the government's answer is always the same..................more programs, more laws, and more government. Are you sure I'm hysterical?

I'm not listening to Obama, or any other news on this subject today. It all makes me sick.

Let me know if you happen to hear a psychologist point out that these horrible events seem to be increasing in lockstep with the liberal indoctrination of our young. I'll turn on the TV.

I'd love to be able to hear that too, Kramarat but in the last few years I have discovered that TV is about our 2nd worst enemy.  My set stays off until I get ready to watch a movie.  My "sheriff" listens to the weather and we get tidbits of the news until we switch it off.  I'd hate to try and tell you how many times you'd hear the words, "President Obama" if you watch TV too much.  I'll have to try to rely on this forum to get the news.  I do think that real conservatives admit that liberal indoctrination is at the root of the violence we are witnessing today.

Not much TV around here either. I did just hear Obama in CT, on a local news snip. He's just about pissing himself with excitement, over the possibilities of new gun legislation.....................which will never stop insane people from doing insane things.

As horrible as it sounds, it could have been worse.
This shooter was only 20. If killing little kids was in his DNA, he could have layed low and spent the rest of his life snatching and killing them one at a time, and never been caught.

As usual, our misleader is misleading people into thinking that more gun laws will stop the victimization of children.

No guns involved here, and it's a problem that is global, including places with very strict gun control.

May I borrow you statement above?
Also I had this for years as my e-mail signature as far back as the Clinton years, time to dust it off I figure.
