Harry Reid to Use 'Mental Health' for Gun Control, Won't Provide Details

On Oct. 5, Breitbart News reported that Reid (D-NV) wants to pass more gun control aimed at keeping "sick individuals" from plotting and carrying out "horrific" acts like the shootings that repeatedly occur in gun-free zones.

Reid did not say Tuesday if his legislation would include more stringent "background checks"— perhaps background checks of would-be buyers' "mental health."

If That punch drunk buffoon wants to prevent people from carrying out horrific acts he should retire from office right now and check into the nearest Betty Ford Clinic.

Lots of possibilities there. I look for the bureaucrats to create a whole new class of 'prohibited' persons for gun ownership. One way would be something similar to the lines of the 'Lautenberg Amendment' as related to the federal domestic violence legislation already on the books. With 'Lautenberg', you are prohibited from owning any firearms....no matter when you were convicted.

Instead of 'domestic violence' being the determining factor, the bureaucrats will check your medical records to see if you have ever been prescribed any psychoactive drugs at any time in your life. Been stressed out years ago because you were going through a divorce and your physician prescribed an anti-anxiety med for you? Sorry, but you're now a 'prohibited' person for gun ownership.

Go ahead and laugh. Myself, I don't dismiss any venue that the corrupt government wouldn't take to limit gun ownership. Just look at the ex-post-facto Lautenberg Amendment.

Naturally they will use the data collected by the VA to eliminate most of the vets, whom they consider terrorists anyway. Medicaid will also be used to collect data they can use along with questionnaires to be used by physicians to eliminate many others. All democrats should automatically be eliminated since they are insane.

I wonder if Mr. Reid thinks people who have breast cancer should be denied the free exercise of their second amendment rights also.

Or perhaps hypertensive patients should lose their second amendment rights.

Tac ya bring up a good point. Given this Administration had the VA already send letters out to  veterans informing them that they cannot own firearms.

Thanks I missed that. I wonder why I didn't get one, but then I'm retired and do not use the VA Medical facilities.

My insurance companies are Medicare and TriCare. I do not go near a VA hospital unless I want to die.

The VA said I must re-enroll after not using their incompetent facilities. The John Dingell Medical Center in Detroit should be bulldozed and another sports stadium brought in to justify the land use (it's next door to the new Tigers' stadiums). That or a casino, since with the existing facility, good care is a crap shoot but the payoff is often terrible.

Here is what they got, this clown Murphy "dusted off a 153 page bill" that is gonna allow suing of manufacturers restriction on magazine capacities and limits on ammo.....none of which will prevent anything
