Title: Hard Questions
Post by: BeverlySumner on March 21, 2017, 03:54:44 AM

The questioning process itself is a very necessary action. The right question, raised in time, can prevent any idiotism, be it an individual or, more importantly, collective act, resulted in not only unnecessary (criminal), but also enormous human costs. Well, really, this is rather risky business. You know, a wise man, named Socrates, liked to put simple and even naïve questions to his fellow citizens. Self-righteous men started to feel greatly their own stupidity whilst searching for 'obvious' answers to 'basic' questions. As a result, Socrates was executed. Why? He was put to death for committing a terrible sacrilege. Of course!

I see you have copied and pasted this around the net.  I will not delete this as I think it is your work.  If so say so or I will delete this as a hit and run.

Man, was that ever fucking boring. I deleted most of that bull shit, mostly because it was written from a Russian perspective claiming to be American.
In other words, just another troll.

About the Image: I could make up a dozen reasons for this picture related to this post. I would say it means that after BO made such a mess, the little monkey can find no place to start cleaning it up. There should be a $9T figure scrawled on the wall too.

QuoteThe questioning process itself is a very necessary action.
Yep.

QuoteThe right question, raised in time, can prevent any idiotism, be it an individual or, more importantly, collective act, resulted in not only unnecessary (criminal), but also enormous human costs.
Nope. Those bent promote their beliefs regardless of facts (Machiavellian) will ridicule any question to gain their end.
Nope. Idiotism is part of the broken human nature. No one cares about your question when they are tearing down your workplaces in Ferguson Mo.
Agree on the human cost portion - the last two word.

QuoteWell, really, this is rather risky business.
Good - you see that this isn't some kind of esoteric game as this pompous quote seems to suggest. There is a lot at stake. So let's not abdicate to the government and let's follow the Constitutional rule of law that is built to transcend the winds of popularism - or we'll end up like Socrates and the nation of Greece.

QuoteYou know, a wise man, named Socrates, liked to put simple and even naïve questions to his fellow citizens. Self-righteous men started to feel greatly their own stupidity whilst searching for 'obvious' answers to 'basic' questions.
Socrates put common notions in written form. We all know that once we dig into any concept that there are complications and sometimes the nuances get us into trouble, i.e., feeling stupid, as you say. That goes without saying for us all.

QuoteAs a result, Socrates was executed. Why? He was put to death for committing a terrible sacrilege. Of course!
Well, the Greek form of government apparently either didn't have a First Amendment-like provision or didn't live to the intent of their constitution. Hmm. Have a Constitution but not living by it ... a lot like what BO and his followers are were trying to promote.

So what was the point of this post? Maybe you can come down to some substantive level and enlighten us a little more?

Another Hard Question:  ...waiting for ...?  maybe it's a good way to flush out the Russian Bloggers, arguing among themselves.

This bull shit was posted all over the web, and not one person responded.
I found at least 6 sites where it was posted, with possibly as many as 20, but I only looked at the obvious ones.

Socrates: a paragon of paradox

Here are a couple of excerpts from Wikipedia:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socrates#Trial_and_death

Socrates concluded: while each man thought he knew a great deal and was wise, in fact they knew very little and were not wise at all.
Socrates realized the Oracle was correct; while so-called wise men thought themselves wise and yet were not,
he himself knew he was not wise at all, which, paradoxically, made him the wiser one since he was the only person aware of his own ignorance.
Socrates' paradoxical wisdom made the prominent Athenians he publicly questioned look foolish,
turning them against him and leading to accusations of wrongdoing.
Socrates defended his role as a gadfly until the end: at his trial, when Socrates was asked to propose his own punishment,
he suggested a wage paid by the government and free dinners for the rest of his life instead, to finance the time he spent as Athens' benefactor.
He was, nevertheless, found guilty of both corrupting the minds of the youth of Athens and of impiety ("not believing in the gods of the state"),
and subsequently sentenced to death by drinking a mixture containing poison hemlock.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socrates#Socratic_paradoxes

The term, "Socratic paradox" can also refer to a self-referential paradox, originating in Socrates' utterance,
"what I do not know I do not think I know", often paraphrased as "I know that I know nothing."
_______

When I was in school, they used to teach,
"The more you learn, the more you realize how much more there is that you don't know yet."
What a contrast with today's schools, teaching students,
"You're the best and brightest generation ever!"
They keep students ignorant by telling them that they're already brilliant!

Maybe there was a tragic accident?  Or maybe she is like Halley's comet and only comes around every 75 years? Maybe she is soo popular on other websites she can not take time to educate us and we have to do it alone?  Or maybe she is just too stupid and got lost and can not find this forum again? She should have left a trail of bread crumbs to find her way back.

You didn't know? She peed on the seat in the CPF lounge bathroom and didn't throw her razor away after shaving her 5:00 shadow off.
I'm not so certain Beverly is all she claimed to be.

Remember the BBQ that one summer?  Let's just say I don't look at chicken wings the same.

I would never have thought Jethro could stuff an entire chicken wing up each nostril. I certainly didn't think he eat them afterwards.

Ah yes, the trouser incident and that unsettling mole.
