Since it's a slow day I thought I'd toss this out for kicks. I've been perusing the web, reading comments about the day and was struck by the ignorance of some of the posts.

This is the problem right here. Ignorance of our history. No one forced one person to ever take a job they didn't want, they have always been free to either work for someone else or start their own business.

Lefties give each other all kinds of retarded awards. It doesn't mean jack to me. It's the same as Liberal celebrities getting awards for TV shows, movies, or music I don't watch or listen to. Them having or not-having an award does change my opinion of them. Taylor Swift not getting an award in the past doesn't change my opinion of her music. Taylor Swift selling out to the LGBT lobby changes my opinion of her. I can only vote with my wallet (or vote) when I can. And, just because there is a holiday, it doesn't mean that I will get that day off. There are some holidays we don't get off. And, since Christmas and Thanksgiving is taken away from us field workers (plus, I am forced to work many other holidays), you are not taking this holiday away from me. Next year, I might be working that day. I work enough days in a row (and enough hours in a day) to receive an occasional holiday don't you think?

There is some great irony here. Americans spend the holiday traveling to the beach or sitting in the back garden grilling all sorts of meats on our grills. In other wards we celebrate the commie holiday by doing thing no one could do under commie rule.

It make the point of what was said earlier: most Americans celebrate holidays by doing regular things. We don't worship the devil on Halloween, we overspend on toys for Christmas, nor do we endorse communists by chilling in the backyard.

1.  The holiday is ingrained in American culture, it is considered the last day of Summer or rather Summer Vacation and is associated with the First day of school, not too may people know (or care) about its origins

2.  Good capitalists that we are, we always have a plethora of LABOR DAY SALES....which overshadows anything the Union Bolsheviks might blather about.  It must really piss them off too....

As to Labor day, I never said give it up, I was merely trying to educate people on its origins. I have no idea why you got so excited over learning of its history and the Marxist connection.
