A Republican-Democrat border security deal that is expected to be offered to President Trump funds about $1.3 billion for a United States-Mexico border wall and includes no increase in detention space to control increasing illegal immigration at the border.

Lawmakers on Capitol Hill have announced that they have reached a deal on border wall funding to avoid a government shutdown. The deal, according to details by the Washington Post, includes about $1.3 billion in border wall funding — a fraction of the $5.7 billion that Trump had requested from Republicans and Democrats.

This funding is set to provide about 55 miles of new border wall along the roughly 2,000-mile long southern border. Much like the 2018 omnibus spending, which prevented Trump from building a border wall out of new materials, the deal is set to tack on stipulations as to what the barrier can be made from and where it can be placed.

I estimate that he will negotiate as much funding from Congress as they (bipartisan) will supply. Then, as they drag their feet "approving", he'll go ahead and get it done in other ways.

Doubt he'll let the government close again.

The national emergency is the only bullet in his gun and there is a great chance that it's a blank. No recent "national emergency" has required mobilization of the army and such great expenditure of funds.  It will be tied up in court for years (why wasn't this an emergency in 2017, 2018 or January of 2019 for that matter? Why aren't border congressman supporting this?) on the merits, then face endless eminent domain challenges from people who dont want their land taken etc. 

Once he's fired that bullet all of Congress will happily wash their hands of this and go on their merry way. Trump is going to have to compromise (if he can, he hasn't shown the ability to think that way yet.) half a loaf is all he's going to get. Border security funds, and a little piece if wall.

Problem is, they put some severe stipulations in the Bill. Those alone killed the deal and Fuglosi knows it, which is why the next shutdown is hers.
Trump got nothing in this. It was all about the appearance of a bipartisan deal, (Between Leftists in both party's).
Fuglosi just shot herself in the head on this one.

How in the friggin' world can you have a "bipartisan" Bill without the president agreeing to it...?

The dims just signed off on 55 miles, would that not make an emergency order easier? If the dims signed on, how could they or the liberals on a court rule a longer wall is unconstitutional? Looks like it would be pretty easy to sell to the public. What am I missing here?

You're Right. Good observation, Trump just got the left to agree to a border wall/barrier/fence, the very thing they said they'd never agree to and didn't "Feel" was necessary, and what did they just do?

I think Trump knows exactly what he is doing. He is getting a little at a time. His disappointment is by design to keep the democrats off balance.

The spin is Trump will sign.
Problem is, he has yet to see the actual Bill, along with the rest of the Senate.
What do you think will happen?

I suspect Trump is playing it cool, claiming he will listen and read the details, give them a couple of more days to change some of the wording, and if they don't, Trump put's the shutdown right square in Fuglosi's lap.
Trump is in a win, win position, because the Dims already caved on Wall funding, and Trump still holds the option of calling for a National Emergency with 26 Billion already to go and even more after the EO goes through.

So what do you think Trump will do?.
