Urgent: Rate Obama on His Job Performance. Vote Here Now!

Three leading Republican senators are promising to help millions of people who may lose federal health insurance subsidies if the Supreme Court invalidates a pillar of President Barack Obama's healthcare law.

Sens. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, John Barrasso of Wyoming, and Orrin Hatch of Utah outline their plan in a Washington Post opinion article titled "We have a plan for fixing healthcare" posted online Sunday evening.

The article provides no detail on how much assistance they would propose, its duration or how they would pay for it. Nor do they address how they would overcome GOP divisions or Democratic opposition to weakening the law.

The article appeared days before Wednesday's oral arguments in a case brought by conservatives and Republicans that could upend the functioning of the 2010 healthcare law by invalidating the subsidies that help millions afford required health coverage. A decision is expected in June.

Wednesday is the big day! I don't know what these guys are thinking but if Obama's house of cards fall apart there is going to be a lot of senators and congress critters coming up with " A plan". I kind of agree that some people may require help to transition back to what they had prior to this illegal overstep by the Obama Gang! Wednesday is a big day and may be the one we have all been waiting for for 4 years!!

If the reps are going to give out subsidies anyway then why should the court bother overturning  it?

I have a plan. Flush Obozocare down the toilet where it belongs.

I have not seen anything officially, but I heard they are planning to make anybody eligible for COBRA. It would provide guaranteed coverage for a period of time. Most people would look elsewhere for coverage due to the expense of a COBRA plan.

That would give some time to separate the truely needed, indigent few from the lazy, freeloading majority that is breaking the backs of those who pull the wagon (while they get afee ride)

I don't think the ruling from SCOTUS will come down until June.  Wednesday is probably the day they plead their case.

Maybe I'm being just a tad cynical, but you know something?

It doesn't really matter to me whether the person spending our tax dollars on a program we can't afford has a "D" or an "R" after their name. It is still something that 1) the Federal Government has no business doing and 2) WE CAN"T FUCKING AFFORD IT!

What part of that last part don't people understand?

Our federal officials don't care if it's legal or if what ever program is affordable. If it buys votes, the program is good in their feeble minds.

EXACTLY!

And that, my friend, in a nutshell, is why the IRS will never be seriously reformed, let alone, abolished. It collects the money that politicians of all persuasions, use to bribe their way back into office.

The left has been wanting single payer, socialized medicine for years, and they thought this was a way to get the process headed in that direction.  It also fits into Obama's "income redistribution" scheme, and the government controlling the private sector.

Harry Reid said that Obamacare was only a first step towards a fully government run, single payer system.

Obama and the Democrats made this a partisan thing.  They pushed this through as a "Budget Reconcillation" matter, rather than using the regular process.  Well these F***ers own this one! They didn't get even one Republican vote doing this thing that the majority of the American people are dead set against!  It's not just Obama's "Audacity (of Hope)" it's His and his party's arrogance.  They get their way by hook or by crook and the American people are growing tired of it!

I take your point that the RINOs are to fault for much of our damn debt.  BUT..not for Obama-friggin-care...and that is the point of this damn thread!

that would probably be ok.  It's a limited duration and people pay on a sliding scale.  As the clock ticks, they might make those hard choices between buying more beer & pretzels and paying for their own healthcare from the free marketplace!  (Damn! Might have to drive a ten year old yugo rather than a lexus)

That sounds like a reasonable idea which means it would be fought by the democrats. This could be a great opportunity for the republicans to solve a problem created solely by democrats.
