Google must open-source their core technology
« on: September 05, 2017, 05:11:48 AM »
Google was started and incubated by the government.  Their technology is our technology.  It belongs to the people.

Google, you screwed up.  You decided to go against the American people and hitch your wagon to the most oppressive and anti-American elements in our country.  If you were a product of the free market, then all would be fine, but you aren't.  Government has made you immune to competition, but nobody lives forever.  The invisible hand of capitalism will bitch-slap you down by jump-starting a new internet and render you obscure.  It may be via satellite, or it may be some new technology that we can't anticipate.  It may be next week, or it may be in ten years, but whenever and whatever the medium you will be the next MySpace or Blockbuster.

Now do no evil and give us the technology that we paid for so we can compete.

Great article Taxed, sticky this one for the week, it needs to be read, and I'm certain it will effect our page Rank and search status, but we'll survive, regardless.

Since Pichai has taken the helm, Google has seen its worst years, from employee revolt to censorship of the conservative voice.

The latest was their claim that business didn't like ad placement. (Translated to mean), Marxist led corporations were complaining that their message of inclusivity was being exposed by evil Conservative videos and needed to stop!
So instead of writing code to keep the two separate, they just stifle Conservative Free Speech under the lie that they're somehow a private entity.
Ask yourself, which is easier code to write?

I'd expect to see Pichai out then they'll push a leftist female, in his stead.

Let's be honest, no private company would do what Google has done, let alone survive it in a free mkt. Pretty much proves Google, like govt, doesn't give a damn what people think, they are the govt.

Interesting timeline.

The left’s campaign against conservative speech on tech platforms is much farther along than you think.

In the early days of our interconnected world, when people carped at each other over whether spam was legal on Usenet, there were things called flame wars.

Flame wars generated a lot of heat, a great deal of abuse, but little resolution. They involved such scintillating questions as: Which is better, MINX or Linux? (Obviously, it’s Linux.)

After the glory of Usenet faded, one species of soldiers from these battles migrated to web-logs, a.k.a. blogs, to carry on their search for e-blood: flamers, a.k.a. trolls.

Trolling
A troll would show up at a pro-life blog. He start hurling insults and irrelevancies and would do his best to make a nuisance of himself and distract regulars from the point at hand: the life of the unborn.

Some trolls were so effective they found paying work astroturfing. That is, they made it seem that identical counter-arguments showing up at blogs and website comment boxes were spontaneous grassroots efforts.

Enter the Social Justice Warrior
There was always an organized left. But it was about this time Social Justice Warriors recognized themselves as a force. SJWs were younger and more militant than old-guard leftists. They began to use doxxing as an official tactic. To “dox” is to reveal the personal information of a heretofore anonymous online entity.

Yet as a strategy to silence the right, trolling and doxxing were limited and slow. SJWs realized this just when social media sites exploded in growth.

There were, and still are, SJW trolls on sites like Facebook, Reddit, Twitter, and even YouTube. But hardcore SJWs took a new tack. They focused their energies on the leadership and infrastructure of these companies.

Outright and Shadow-banning
They lodged false and nonsensical complaints of “abuse,” “offensiveness,” and “hate.” Large mainline (that is, left wing) sites began to close their comment boxes, since they were too hard to police. And it led some conservatives to lose or be locked out of their accounts. It also led to shadow-banning. That’s where a group is allowed to keep its account, but the community at large can’t see its activities.

The Fix is in
Then searches began to be censored. This expensive solution requires live staff working at internal Ministries of Truth. This is because no person or algorithm can predict what new hashtag or phrase will become popular on the right.

Searches were also modified to promote SJW fancies, such as their obsession with race. For example, contrast the Google image search “white couples” versus “black couples.” Or try “American inventors.”

Dave Rubin's entire video catalog has been demonetized.

Rubin announced the demonetization in a series of posts on Twitter, where he claimed nearly his “entire catalogue” of videos had been affected, including interviews with former Muslim Ayaan Hirsi Ali, professor Jordan B. Peterson, former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura, feminist activist and scholar Christina Hoff Sommers, television host Larry King, and conservative commentator Steven Crowder.

Folks, this is some seriously scary shit, rivals Soros.

So what do you do when you fail to elect your chosen candidate and your former political allies and mainstream media turn against you by painting you not as the 'progressive', open-minded, friendly tech company that you used to be but as an evil, racist, Russian-colluding corporate villain intent upon destroying all that is sacred in the world?  Well, you just buy the media, of course.

As Poynter notes today, after a series of public relations debacles in recent weeks, from the firing of James Damore to news last week that Google's algos served up some fairly disturbing keywords to potential advertising buyers (e.g. "Why Do Black People Ruin Neighborhoods"), Google is ramping up its media presence with the announcement that the Google News Lab will be working with Report For America (RFA) to hire 1,000 journalists all around the country.

Many local newsrooms have been cut to the bone so often that there's hardly any bone left. But starting early next year, some may get the chance to rebuild, at least by one.

On Monday, a new project was announced at the Google News Lab Summit that aims to place 1,000 journalists in local newsrooms in the next five years. Report For America takes ideas from several existing organizations, including the Peace Corps, Americorps, Teach for America and public media.

Unlike foreign or domestic service programs or public media, however, RFA gets no government funding. But they are calling RFA a national service project. That might make some journalists uncomfortable  – the idea of service and patriotism. But at its most fundamental, local journalism is about protecting democracy, said co-founder Charles Sennott, founder and CEO of the GroundTruth Project.

"I think journalism needs that kind of passion for public service to bring it back and to really address some of the ailments of the heart of journalism," he said.

Here's how RFA will work: On one end, emerging journalists will apply to be part of RFA. On the other, newsrooms will apply for a journalist. RFA will pay 50 percent of that journalist's salary, with the newsroom paying 25 percent and local donors paying the other 25 percent. That reporter will work in the local newsroom for a year, with the opportunity to renew.
