Google closed down "RE<C."   Their best minds grasped the obvious.   The political popular forms of renewable energy don't work for completely valid engineering reasons.

quoth the link:
"Whenever somebody with a decent grasp of maths and physics looks into the idea of a fully renewables-powered civilised future for the human race with a reasonably open mind, they normally come to the conclusion that it simply isn't feasible."

"In reality, well before any such stage was reached, energy would become horrifyingly expensive - which means that everything would become horrifyingly expensive...This in turn means that everyone would become miserably poor..."

Taxcutter says:
Energy technology is relatively mature.   People have been dinking around with it since the 1600s.   If something better were out there, people would have long since latched onto it.

Government needs to get out of the way.

Well that depends - is nuclear considered renewable. Or is it really, really, a fossil fuel, considering it came out of the heart of long dead stars.

With fast breeder reactors, you get more fissile material (Pu-239) out than you put in (U-235).   The fast-moving neutrons hit the U-238 shielding and transmute it into usable fuel.

Even without fast breeders, the US alone has enough uranium to last til 5,000 A.D.
