The only time I ever used FB was when the only options available to comment on any given article were between google and a few other social media links, so FB was my only option.
Then I realized something, the articles that had these choices were always leftist opinion pieces.

I must say, at the time I was on FB, I never used it once beyond the aforementioned reason, but it always bugged the Hell out of me that my very presence was helping bolster their numbers, that's Right, I was helping a Marxist organization promote the demise of the Conservative voice.

Just do it folks, kill off Face plant, delete your account, send that message and make it hurt.

Facebook suspends another data analytics firm after CNBC discovers it was using tactics like Cambridge Analytica

Data analytics firm CubeYou used personality quizzes clearly labeled for "non-profit academic research" to help marketers find customers.
One of its quizzes, "You Are What You Like" which also goes by "Apply Magic Sauce," states it is only for "non-profit academic research that has no connection whatsoever to any commercial or profit-making purpose or entity."
When CNBC showed Facebook the quizzes and terms, which are similar to the methods used by Cambridge Analytica, Facebook said it was going to suspend CubeYou from the platform to investigate.

Again, why are you still on Faceplant?

I am one of a very few who never had a facebook account. I just always thought it was a little silly, unnecessary, and way too time consuming from what I have witnessed from other people. I'm way ahead of the curve I guess...

I found FB very fun and interesting about 3 years ago, when I got re-acquainted with 30-40 people from high school & college, that I hadn't seen or talked to for 35 years.

After that, which lasted maybe a year, I never found any other aspect of FB useful or interesting.  Never closed my account, just never really went on there anymore.

It's past it's useful life for America.  Put it down.

I think FaceBook offered the desperately lonely, free-falling population a sort of 'community' and some chance at feeling ---popular and important.

Nobody knows his/her neighbor any more, nobody attends church activities or services any more.. there's an enormous human need, a huge vacuum modern culture has fostered that leaves millions and millions kinda rootless. FaceBook and similar computer "communities" are a hollow substitute, but all some folks have.

I think your life had a community to which you belong-- just guessin'.

I think there is a lot of truth in that.
The helicopter generation was used to being called "Spetchal", everyone got an award for showing up, then suddenly they're thrown to the wolves, the real world, where no one gives a shit that you got a gold star in attendance, or that you were the most popular in your high school clique. No, you are nothing spetchal, despite the lies your parents praised upon you.

Enter Faceplant, where one can create the illusion they believe they're deserving of.
Suddenly they have thousands of followers, simply because they posted a video of a puppy, and they want to believe it was they, who attracted all these adoring fans.
Now their world once again crumbles with the downfall of their little plastic world. But at least they can blame Suckerberg.

SueAnn

I guess I am the only person who considered Facebook a gift from God.  I was my mother's 24/7 caregiver from 2000 until her death in 2015.  Mom could not be left alone for more than 15 minutes to a half hour.  I had almost no one to step in so I could leave the house.  Hubby had to attend all family functions without me.  Since family is spread out all over the country Facebook provided me a way to interact with family even though I could not see them in person.  I got to see all the new pets and see all their new houses and watch their kids growing.

After Mom passed I continued to enjoy Facebook but was less dependent on it.  A year or so ago I accidentally screwed up my account and have not been able to get into since.

So it is no skin off my back to consider it dumped now for good.

Sue Ann you are like me and many who use FB. It has been very entertaining to me and enabled me to catch up with many old friends, keep up with former colleagues and just stay in touch with folks. I do not post my entire life on FB like many do. I never post where I am going until I have completed my trip. FB is like a gun. It can be very beneficial or it can be very dangerous. It is how the user uses it.

Same here. Reunited with people from over 50 years ago, Some lived so close by and I didn't know it. Met a few in person.

I restricted my account to only friends and there's a way for it not to show up in a google search. No pictures and no personal info either.

Other than that I have no use for FB. Like Solar said the news, political opinions pieces and links to sites are just left wing bullshit.
