Title: gas and other fuels are top US export!
Post by: Just_the_facts_mamm on February 29, 2012, 10:53:49 AM
So if we are exporting all this gas and fuel, yet prices are high?

Could this be an example of corporate greed?

Could this be an example of how the markets work?

AND regardless of how many holes we poke in the ground, the prices are still being set by external market forces.

NOT because Obama has caused it!

Because that's how the market works!

There's at least one domestic downside to America's growing role as a fuel exporter. Experts say the trend helps explain why U.S. motorists are paying more for gasoline. The more fuel that's sent overseas, the less of a supply cushion there is at home.

Hey moron, so the facts that were causing price rises at 12/31/2011 still exist and are, in fact, causing the price to rise more.

You are one more funny, funny guy!

Hello Dumb ass, there is a reason its old news, two refineries have since been shuttered, thank you Hussein, so the fuel is no longer being exported.
Try listening to what I have to say, instead of showing just how a stupid libs acts.

By the way, this is not all Hussein's fault, but he carries most of the burden.

The HOVENSA refinery closure removes an important source of East Coast gasoline and distillate supply
The closure of HOVENSA, a major refinery in the U.S. Virgin Islands, is another in a string of Atlantic Basin refinery closures over the past several years. With plans to turn the site into a product terminal, it continues the trend of companies shifting their focus from underperforming refining assets to other segments of the market. The closure of this refinery, which was the largest employer in the U.S. Virgin Islands, will likely have a major adverse impact on the economy of that U.S. territory. The impact on the mainland United States is not as large, but is still significant, as it is likely to affect petroleum product markets in nearby areas and up the East Coast.

Let me throw out a bone to the troll that started this useless thread and the other libdolt Fudd.
Care to try and defend this BS?

Responsible” domestic gas and oil production: Domestic crude oil production is now at its highest level since 2003 and domestic natural gas production grew by 7 percent in 2011 – besting the previous all-time production record set in 1973, the White House said.
And “in response to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico,” the Obama Administration has also launched “aggressive and comprehensive reforms to regulation and oversight of offshore oil and gas in U.S. history.”
     *Reducing dependence on foreign oil:
The Administration says U.S. oil imports fell from 60.3 percent in 2005 to 45 percent of consumption in 2011 – the lowest level since 1995.
*Establishing historic fuel economy standards:  The Obama Administration says its standards for cars and light-duty trucks for model years 2011-2025 “represent the first meaningful update in over three decades.” The plan calls for average fuel efficiency to reach 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025, “saving consumers $1.7 trillion at the pump,” or roughly $8,200 per vehicle. More efficient cars will also mean “reducing oil consumption by 2.2 million barrels a day, and slashing greenhouse gas emissions by 6 billion metric tons over the lifetime of the vehicles sold during this period,” the Administration says.
*Cutting energy bills for low-income Americans: : A Dept. of Energy program has “completed energy efficiency upgrades in 750,000 homes” nationwide, saving families $400 in the first year alone, while resulting in 14,000 direct jobs, the Administration says.
*Developing clean energy sources: Stimulus funding invested “more than $90 billion in clean energy, the largest such investment in American history,” the Administration says. The White House argues the funds “have created hundreds of thousands of jobs and spurred thousands of clean energy projects across the country.”

If my post was DATED, because it was from 2 months ago, then why are you posting info (without a link) from the past 2 decades?

and then your link shows why the refinery closed in the virgin Is.(moron)

Quote
HOVENSA cited operating losses in excess of $1 billion in the last three years alone - and projections of continued losses - due primarily to lower demand for petroleum products and the addition of new refining capacity in emerging markets as reasons behind the closure. As an oil-fueled refinery, HOVENSA also identified its competitive disadvantage with mainland refineries fueled with low-priced natural gas as a factor underpinning the closure.

But Solar will still blame Obama.

Maybe I can make it simple for you to understand, and why I dont place all the blame on Hussein, though the rest lies squarely in the lap of the Dim party.

Refineries are shuttering because it takes a lot of energy to crack crude oil, the heavier, the harder and longer the process.
The reason they are having trouble getting light sweet crude is because the Dims as well as Hussein, have made it nearly impossible to drill where the best oil is located.
So business does what it has to to survive, they will close the older plants and concentrate on the bigger refineries.

Now here is where your Messiah will be in big trouble for the election, with all these plant closures and no new sweet crude entering the mkt, the price of refined fuel will continue to climb, possibly near $6.00 per gal come time for the election.

Remember, he did claim prices would necessarily sky rocket under his plan, and the voters remember those words.

We're still importing most of that gas and then refining it before we export it.

We still aren't drilling enough and we don't have enough refineries.

When will you people get it thru your dense skulls that the Obamao administration WANTS high gas prices.

Were paying $4.36 a gallon for both diesel and regular gas.
I've been reading where we can expect six bucks a gallon by Summer.
So they are proposing the bandaid effect.

Dims are shitting their panties over it, they know there chances of reelection are dirt if this continues.
Congressional Democrats are ramping up pressure on President Obama to tap the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to prevent rising gas prices from threatening the economy and their election-year prospects.

You do know Chu is Hussein's energy secretary, right?
"Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe," Mr. Chu, who directs the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California, said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal in September.

Yeah, why would he do that?

In a clear signal that the Obama administration is shifting the government's approach to energy exploration on public lands, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar yesterday canceled oil and gas leases on 77 parcels of federal land after opponents said the drilling would blight Utah's scenic southeastern corner.

Do you still need more evidence?
The answer is staring you square in the face!

Lee Schipper, a project scientist with the Global Metropolitan Studies program at U.C. Berkeley, hailed Obama’s nomination of Chu as Energy Secretary and praised his colleague’s support for higher gasoline taxes.

“I can imagine in the hearings Chu facing problems because he dares say, ‘higher prices,’” said Schipper. “But I think there is no solution that does not involve higher prices.”

Schipper, who shared a lab at Berkeley with Chu from 1972-74, estimates that the average cost of gasoline in Europe at present is somewhere between $7-9 per gallon.

Schipper thinks Obama’s concerns about not placing additional burdens on America’s families can be addressed by agreeing to rebate all — or close to all — of the money raised by higher fuel taxes.

“The answer is: raise the price of gasoline and give all the money back,” said Schipper.

Hey morons!

Not sure why you drones think my life revolves around YOUR dumb ass questions and childish taunting!

Probably a function of your low IQ's

BUT anyway.

First off, this article is from 2008, AND I think things have changed a bit since then.

I know that this is complex thought and probably not in the realm of possibility for low functioning conservatives,

BUT

weening the US off of imported fuel IS the answer to some of our economic problems.

in the same article SOLAR, the moron posted, Obama said the following:

Quote
But Mr. Obama has dismissed the idea of boosting the federal gasoline tax, a move energy experts say could be the single most effective step to promote alternative energies and temper demand. Mr. Obama said Sunday that a heightened gas tax would be a "mistake" because it would put "additional burdens on American families right now."
This is an example of leadership.

Something GOP presidents don't seem to be capable of.

For example.

Invading Afghanistan, instead of accepting the Taliban offer for Osama.

GOP (conservatives) are too low functioning for leadership, it seems!

Sheesh! And you call us morons?
He lied you idiot!!!
He appointed Chu whom has the backing and authority to speak on behalf of hussein, stated:

You do know Chu is Hussein's energy secretary, right?
"Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe," Mr. Chu, who directs the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California, said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal in September.

Maybe this can clear some things up for you
