Here comes the tax to the rich. Is this a big Republican compromise or what. I feel like Republican leaders were looking to save face instead of doing what is right.

I honestly believe that this is part of the reason why the Republicans lost in November.
They took their base for granted and in so doing believed they could compromise any and all of their principles to woo the so-called independent voter! What they failed to realize is that most of the independents are actually conservative Republicans who are sick and tired of the Republicans trying to be Democrat Lite!
It's like that old song says... you've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything...
Exactly what do the Republicans stand for any more?

Here it is. The full text of the: American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012, AKA the bill to avert the Fiscal Cliff.
Why is it a 157 pages?
Because in addition to the tax and spending stuff, there's all kinds of goodies, like extensions of credits for green energy, and all that stuff in there, that they always put in these things.

I feel ill. Obama now has a compliant republican party. Time for him to announce tax cuts, and take credit for helping the working people. They won't amount to shit, but he will emerge as a hero of the working class.
So I see the "Fiscal Cliff" has just been moved out is all!
Unemployment will go down more this year. As more go off unemployment checks and are no longer counted as unemployed.
If unemployment was going down from people going back to work, there would be a bigger tax base.
The money is do sometime. You have to love the way lib's think. When Peter takes his money and runs, what the hell will Paul do?

Seems the Republicans can't win no matter what they do. They compromised, so when things go further south, Obama will say it's because he didn't get what he wanted--it was a half measure ($400k instead of $250k). A lot of conservatives will call them RINOS for this compromise. But if they were obstructionists and stood in the way of ANY tax increases, you know how that would play out.
I wouldn't care if the leadership just let him have his way, but I bet I'm nearly alone in wishing for that. But at least Obama would own it, but you all would say we have a useless do-nothing Congress, so I don't see how they could win regardless (irregardless ) of what they do.

The republicans, (if they even give a crap), should start holding weekly press conferences for anyone willing to set up a camera, and explain, (in plain language), what the democrats are doing to the country.

If a Republican holds a press conference, and nobody (at least from the MSM) shows up, did it really ever happen? I've heard they do, but the MSM doesn't take their position seriously. They go to Obeyme and he says the Republicans want to starve old people and kill children, and the MSM asks the Republicans, "Why do you want to starve old people and kill children?"

I voted against Hatch in both the primary and the general! He is a RINO with a capital "R"!
I'm disappointed...At least Rubio voted Nay...

You can expect this same level of bravery from Republicans when the first gun bill hits the house.
Doubtful, there are a lot of democrats from States like West Va.Pa and Va (to name a few) who will be just as opposed to any form of gun control.

Also remember that one of his tactics is to distract people from the sneaky things he is doing. Diversionary tactics.
He gets all mental about guns coz he knows that will set us off, and when we're pissed about guns he can sneak around playing with the fiscal cliff, signing EXO's for Congressional pay raises etc etc.

He doesn't need to sneak, he does what he wants right out in the open, nobody stops him, when congress refuses which is seldom, he writes an executive order. he hides nothing, he just does it.

You are correct and "sneaking" is probably a poor choice of words on my part, but since you just know what kind of underhanded dirty deals that never make it into print are going on with this fiend its the first thing that popped into my head.
But he does distract while he is doing it, like it is often quoted...'never let a crises go to waste'.

Lets just say it appears that way, because the media does as they're instructed by the DNC.
It amazes me how much damage this administration has done, and all under the watchful eye of the MSM, kind of like a lookout for a thief.

If not now, WHEN. The GOP caved like a house of cards because they might get blamed. Well they are going to get blamed anyway when the economy does not recover because they did not allow enough tax to be levied. Now they say that they will take a stand on the debt limit. What a joke. Obama will say that they put the country at risk and once again afraid of being blamed will fold. Tax cuts will be loop hole elimination (ie tax increase) and investment (ie Spending) A financial crisis now is probably better than the one that will surely occur later.
When I heard that all the GOP was in compliance with their pledge not to raise taxes because the taxes went up Jan 1 so they actually were cutting taxes and not increasing them well it became obvious to me that the GOP is not really looking for a solution either and has no interest in pushing for any type of reform. So these next two crisis that are looming in a few months will just be more of the same. Bluster about how they plan to cut costs and then caving in so they do not take the blame. I do believe that in April of this year the end result will be more taxes and more investment (spending) and zero action towards reducing the dept.
Obama already said that he is not done taxing and that what we really need is more investment. No tea leaves needed. The level of deficit is not going to go down at least in the next two years when maybe we can elect some people with real principles. The fact that the GOP will not even give a minimum of support to the Tea party who really just want smaller govt and less taxes yet gets treated like they are a radical organization. What a shame. I was a life long Dem until the party went into crazy land. I did not trust the GOP either but thought that just maybe they would push for the right things. My hope is gone and anyone who has any thoughts that the next few months will show that the GOP is going to stand for fiscal austerity are just delusional. They do not have the will to make enter the fray and fight it out. Granted the media bias is pretty hard to stand up against but but for a few no one is ready to fight for what is right for the country. Yes Ryan even voted for this disaster of a bill.

This may show that they're not completely silent, but they still aren't doing anything that any body will hear or remember.
They could still get value out of this mess if they raise a huge ruckus about the cuts starting today, and start calling people damned liars every day it gets avoided. Remind everyone how the dems lied and cheated in this exact same way, same issues, with Reagan and Bush 1, and also lied and cheated with Reagan on amnesty immediately, for border security that never happened. Coordinate with talk radio like crazy.
Also announce no debt ceiling discussion until a we get a list of cuts from the WH.
Except they're too lazy, country club blueblood genteel, and self-sustaining to do anything hard core.
The dems-leftist-media do it all day, every day. GOP can't be bothered, and the tea partiers aren't big enough to make the difference yet.
That's how you lose all the issues like this, and elections.

Obama says this is not a subject for debate. How can he dictate to the House what is debatable or not? Just another example of his arrogance. The debt ceiling is the card the GOP holds that can result in some actual cuts.
I am so sick of these losers.
In any rational world Obama's arrogance and stonewalling would be up for discussion as something bad.
Not in DC or the media. All that comes of it is surrender by the GOP power brokers.
How it's possible, I don't know. But it's the standard outcome these days.
We will probably see a GOP cave on the ceiling, and never see any cuts. And somehow this will never be a negative on Obama and friends. Mind boggling, but it's happened how many times already ?
Only remotely interesting thought right now......is Cantor bucking for speaker ? But will he do anything different than Boehner & McConnell, i.e. do nothing but try and keep the post no matter what.
