An execution in Arizona has been put on hold until the US Supreme Court decides whether the state can use a foreign-made drug, which hasn't won government approval, in his lethal injection, after a shortage of the US-made drug.

A federal appeals court earlier upheld a decision by a federal judge on Tuesday to block the execution of a death-row inmate after officials refused to reveal where they got the necessary drugs.

The EPA is working on that also.    I vote for a back up, a rope or  Dr Joseph Guillotine.

The decision to vacate the order was supported by Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Samuel Alito, Anthony Kennedy, Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas. Justices Stephen Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor sided with Silver and would not have vacated the ruling.
