QuoteThat was my feeling. I agreed with MOST of what he did at the time, but others warned that while you may trust Bush not to abuse these powers, ANOTHER president will come along whom you will not be able to trust with these powers. How prophetic they were!  And the Libtards who complained the most about Bush, are perfectly happy with Obama's clear abuse of power.

The irony in that is you were happy for Bush to abuse the constitution because he was a republican. The same way you accurately just described Obama supporters doing the same.

Do to our fear of further attacks, and the horrifying nature of the 911 attacks on civilians, I think the entire country was willing to turn a blind eye to constitutional protocol. The road to hell is always paved with good intentions.

No, nobody's rights were abused under Bush.  If I'm wrong, explain where they were.

Exactly.

When I said that Bush set the table, I wasn't suggesting that Bush intentionally set out to thwart our constitutional rights. There's no question that his full intent was to get the terrorists and protect the American people. That original intent has been bastardized. The patriot act didn't come with any provisions for self elimination. It should have.

Democrats could have filibustered the Patriot Act...

Or, when they had a filibuster proof majority in the Senate, had control of the House, and the Presidency, they could have repealed it completely.

But they didn't...

Care to venture as guess as to why they didn't do any of those things?
