Evangelist Franklin Graham slams, quits GOP

Evangelist Franklin Graham announced Tuesday he is leaving the Republican Party over the GOP-led spending bill passed last week, calling it "wasteful" and likening funding of Planned Parenthood to Nazi concentration camps.

"Shame on the Republicans and the Democrats for passing such a wasteful spending bill last week," he said.  "And to top it off, funding Planned Parenthood!"

"I have no hope in the Republican Party, the Democratic Party, or Tea Party to do what is best for America," he wrote. "Unless more godly men and women get in this process and change this wicked system, our country is in for trouble."
The danger to America is not Barack Obama but the citizens capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency.

I understand his feeling on this. Even the "Tea Party" wants to keep their largest voting bloc in the basement. The self proclaimed leaders are embarrassed by them speaking out on issues like PP.

No, TEA has absolutely nothing to with moral issues.
TEA knows that first you have to return govt to the people, morality will follow if it can.

I think this is it for the Republican party.

Not just because of Graham, but for a lot of other reasons.

But Graham is a problem, for this election too.  The "R"s have had a lot of trouble getting evangelicals to register to vote, let alone vote.
The danger to America is not Barack Obama but the citizens capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency.

By no means does the son have the intellect of the father, as evidenced by the following quote.

"I have no hope in the Republican Party, the Democratic Party, or Tea Party to do what is best for America," he wrote. "Unless more godly men and women get in this process and change this wicked system, our country is in for trouble."

Sooo, he's just throwing in the towel, does he actually think his followers will ignorantly do the same?

Yeah. Morals are a societal issue, relying on govt to fix it, is akin to relying on govt for everything, something TEA is the antithesis of.

I think everyone here is totally missing Franklin's point.

Did did NOT say he would not vote Republican.  He said he was no longer supporting the "party".   He is still supporting truly conservative candidates like Cruz, who is an evangelical himself.

Franklin's outrage was basically at the Congress's approval of the omnibus which fully funded the selling of baby parts.  We know for a fact that PP sells baby parts!  That was morally reprehensible to Franklin.... and to me also!  There was no logical excuse for that.

Our Congress traded off the lives of these mutilated babies for a concession on oil import/exports.

I certainly understand Franklin's passion for the unborn and unwillingness to publicly align himself with those who would participate in this abomination.

Personally, I think Franklin is the most impressive person in the Graham family.  His father schmoozed with all the RINOs and Democrats.  Not Franklin.  He is a man of moral principle... much like Cruz!!

Franklin has my support all the way!

Of course the article didn't say that, but is there anything affirming that statement since he said this?

I think we all got that. He doesn't want to associate himself with all 3 parties (including the Tea Party) because they think this mess can be fixed without God.

So the Constitution is now "wicked"? After all, that's the "system" of government he refer's to, that we have in America.

Billy Graham always seemed very RINOy to me.
Franklin Graham actually stands for something.

The "R"s have had a lot of trouble getting evangelicals to register to vote, let alone vote.

Evangelicals have been WAY "too heavenly minded to be of any earthly good"
for at least a couple of generations.

There are 30 million evangelicals who never register to vote.
That many would WIPE OUT wicked politicians IN ONE ELECTION CYCLE!

But noooo, they whine and wail about God not doing for them
what He has made easy for them to do themselves!

Most of the ones I've known are just as irresponsible in other parts of service to God
as they are in civic participation.

That really is the root cause of America's downfall.
The CHURCHES have abandoned God!

I agree with him whole heartedly on the Planned Parenthood comments.  After reading the article though I was surprised that he was a Trump supporter.  I don't find anything Godly about Trump.  Warning bells go off with me every time the man speaks.  You don't have to look hard to find a bitter vengeance motivated hard hearted hateful person in Trump.  I could get examples.  Like I was reading how he said he likes to get even.  Takes pleasure in it.  The Bible is all about Love and forgiveness.  Trump takes every opportunity to share his hateful attitude and it doesn't come in line with my Bible.  That is my plumb line.
