In the U.S. England's usually regarded as either a semi-socialist paradise the U.S. ought to aspire to emulate or an example of the sort of drag socialism is on the engine of wealth creation. In any case, a lot of money goes to the government and that's just a fact of life.

Well, things are changing.

The recently elected Conservative government is starting to make good on some of it's promises to reign in government spending with plans that will result in a reduction of the government payroll by up to 500,000 employees.

I had head something on the radio to the effect of an 8% decrease in government employees and a 12% decrease in "welfare" type benefits....
