I'm ready to dump the EC.  Let the popular vote stand and be done with it.  I'm sick of Ohio and Florida getting to decide who the president is.  Much like I am sick of Iowa and New Hampshire telling me who the candidate will be.  Dump the EC and have ONE national primary day!
The EC was set up so the rural communities would get a say, but the way the party's have set it up, is doing just the opposite of what the Founders had intended.

I agree, the process should be done in one day, screw this crap of going to one state, campaigning, then on to another, and before the rest of the states get a voice, the best candidates are already on the trash heap.

Time to rewrite the rules and let the Nation decide all at once.

All you have to do is look at a nationwide map of the election results by county to see that is the truth.  I dare say the geographically Romney carried 80-85% of the land area!

More the reason for states with GOP legislative majorities change the electoral vote distribution to a "by congressional district" distribution. Look at what that might do in OH, VA and MI. I bet it would make a big difference in CA for example, but that will not happen. It might be necessary in FL.

I think CA should split it's votes like Maine does.  That might negate some of the gerrymandering that has been done, but you are right, that won't happen either.

Exactly! Which is evidence that the process is being manipulated and needs to be reworked.

Means nothing as long as the GOP lets it mean nothing.

They had plenty of easy, undefendable targets to go after, the morning after the election.  They chose not to.

Like they choose to not go after F&F, Benghazi, TS Leaks, sequestration lies and targeted cuts, etc.

Almost time to say "who cares".     ..........or "what does it matter now for"?(H. Toon)

I heard something interesting last night about Boehner.  Levin was saying that Boehner is so connected to Wall Street that he's avoiding the necessary economic / conservative fixes, because they're too messy and time consuming to implement....and Wall Street just does not want it.

Interesting POV.

Are we supposed to be surprised? Most of Congress is far more interested in where their next campaign contribution is coming from - and stroking their overblown egos - rather than doing their jobs.

I have no doubt at all.   When you don't have to identify your self and are getting paid to vote it is easy.  Obama has been doing it all his life and he is very good at it.  It does not speak well for the intelligence of the voter block that voted for him.
The Golden Rule is the only rule we need.

They don't fear any consequences.

Nor should they fear any consequences. It's not like Democrats will ever be held accountable for their fraud and deceit. The American voters made it clear in 2012 that leftist politicians do not have to answer for their wrongdoings.

THAT is a legitimate concern about the GOP. I've also noticed, when "we're" in power, noting really gets accomplished. Libs have been screaming about affordable healthcare for years, and WE let it slip thru our fingers. IF ONLY we implemented the words of Ben Carson or Dr David Janda, WE could have given the nation AFFORDABLE healthcare. Instead we do nothing. Can we really blame the Dems for taking the initiative and implementing THEIR big government solutions? And WE are left behind griping and complaining, but EVERYTIME we have the opportunity, NOTHING gets done. If there was another choice, I'd leave the ineffective Republican Party, but where else can you go?  We need to remake THAT party from within by electime more like Paul, Rubio, Cruz Toomey, Flake etc.

The only ones screaming for "affordable" health care were the usual suspects. In fact survey after survey showed that most Americans were satisfied with the healthcare they had. They simply want a few fixes to take care of some kinks in the system. Instead we got Obamacare - which most Americans hate.

I used to think that I'd support the EC and it's constitutional bonafides forever.  But it's tough seeing the marxists get an automatic 30-40% of the votes just from CA, NY, IL, DC, the northeast.....and have to win very little of what's left to win the election.

I don't think the founders foresaw half a dozen huge cities going full marxist, and having almost a majority just with that.

The problem is the GOP refuses to challenge them on vote fraud. As long as corrupt Democraptic machines control the big cities, the can always manufacture enough votes to "win" statewide and win all the Electoral Votes from that state.

I don't think that's what happened at all. I think that those on the left were ALARMINGLY successful at hiding their fraud and deceit, and continue to be so to this day. MASSIVE voter fraud occurred nationwide, and it's beginning to come to light in dribs and drabs, but far too little and far too late to make a difference. (Have you read about the Obama devotee and long-time poll worker who voted EIGHT TIMES in Cincinnati, and is PROUD of it?)

I think the American voters made it clear in 2012 that in the main they don't have a damned clue what's happening in this country. It was the year of the Twitter voter.

All my life I have cursed the LCD -- the "least common denominator." The LCD gets a driver's license even though he/she can't read or write (anything, including traffic signs) or compose a sentence. The LCD gets a check from the gubmint every month. The LCD eats via an EBT card, rides a $25 bike, wears $200 sneakers, and talks on a $300 iPhone.

We now live in the age of the LCD. (And you thought it stood for "liquid crystal display," didn't you?)
