If you were unable to predict something as simple as a presidential election, what makes you think you can make highly complex economic and social forecasts?

Let me ask you this, if the election was so simple to predict, why do you keep bringing up Nate Silver?

Simple from a relative standpoint.  I don't have the time to do poll analysis myself, but it's well within my capabilities (although not to Silver's level).  Others decided to mock Silver and go with their own statistics.

If people aren't able to recognize valid electoral projections, I don't see why they think they can recognize the infinitely more complex worlds of economic forecasting and climatology.
