Did NPR not think this through all the way?

More on Mara Liasson, with that $1 million from George Soros to Media Matters getting an early, energetic workout....

QuoteOn the heels of the controversy over Juan Williams' comments on Fox News Channel about Muslims that cost him his job with National Public Radio, Mara Liasson, NPR's award-winning political correspondent, is taking heat over her appearances on Fox.

The liberal media watchdog group Media Matters for America argues on its blog that NPR needs to address the "thorny issue" of Liasson's work for Fox in light of the Williams controversy. Senior fellow Eric Boehlert stressed that Williams, a frequent guest on The O'Reilly Factor, had a far more problematic history with Fox than Liasson. Many NPR listeners have complained about Williams' statements on Fox for years, and he was asked not to identify himself as an NPR journalist while appearing on Fox. Liasson, however, appears on Special Report with Brit Hume and Fox News Sunday, shows that are a far cry from Bill O'Reilly's controversial talk show.

NPR declined to comment for this story.

"I'm not suggesting Liasson has said anything as offensive as Williams, or that she has that kind of track record while appearing on Fox," Boehlert writes. "I'm just saying that if you look at NPR's code of ethics, there's simply no way Liasson should be making appearances on Fox."

If you look at NPR's code of ethics, you'd at least recall Liasson's various outbursts that angered the right (but NPR kept her on).

Now that she's too far right to suit Soros, this juggernaut is poised to wreck her as well.

1.  Calling a man "mister" is a word of respect to the man.  The job he holds has nothing to do with it.

2.  Do you honestly believe that Obama is going to NOT sign the trillion dollar annual budget because a few million dollars are allocated to NPR?  Obama supports NPR and everything they stand for.  NPR is just another left wing media propaganda tool.
Very true. And as such, should not receive one dime of taxpayer money. DEFUND NPR.

NPR has a "code of ethics"?   :)) :)) :)) :)) :)) :))

Must be from the same "code book" that ALL left wingnuts use.

NPR would not even EXIST if not for federal funding.  They would be as extinct as Air America.

It has a captive college audience. Let that support group now carry ALL the financial weight. Continue grants from wherever they can find them, and those tiresome fund-raising drives --- but not from our tax dollars. Get Uncle Sam out of supporting one side of the political spectrum.
