Title: Did Anyone Else Notice Trump Ended A War
Post by: Solar on May 10, 2018, 08:02:08 AM
Well, if you watch leftist media, then no, they purposely missed a teaching moment, where Americans lost 36,000 lives fighting from 1950 to 1953.
For nearly 70 years the North refused to end the war against the South, killing civilians, launching missile attacks across the border, cross border incursions, daring for a response in hopes of reigniting war.
All the while China propped up this brutal communist regime for the sole purpose of keeping the West off its doorstep.
NK with the help of China managed to coerce the West into capitulating to the little dictator with food, money, as well as the means to develop into a nuclear threat to the world.

Enter Trump, in less than a year, he had negotiated Communist Asia into not only backing off, but got North Korea to finally end the war.
That's Right, Trump, brought a nearly century long war to an end.
And what did our media focus on? A porn star/hooker no one gives a damn about.

Trump brings Saudi Arabia into the 21st century as an actual ally wanting peace with Israel, and what did the media focus on?
Trump recognizes Israel and the LSM goes nuts. Getting the picture here? Trump is bringing real peace to the world, and all the LSM can do to avoid it, is focus on a hooker no one gives a shit about.

Let me repeat that. Trump Brought Peace To Korea!

They Noticed and they are trying to figure out how to restart it again. North Korean syle Judche is their ideal system of Govt, if only they could impose it in the USA.

Don't look now, but there might be peace coming to the mid east in the near future.

Of course obama laid the ground work for that one.

Yep, almost guaranteed. All previous Presidents tried, well, Reagan tried, Carter made it worse, Bush's played the Establishment game of lining the military industrial complex pockets with money, so continued strife was always on the menu.
Trump ain't playin that shit.

Something that should get more attention regarding
possible termination of the Korean War, in my opinion.
As the wise heads here already know; reducing any
cost produces savings for some entity and/or person(s)
Consider the impact on the USA of de-nuclearization
and re-unification of the Peninsula.
It would eliminate multi-billions of maintenance costs
for our troops on a continuous war footing, as well as
our Air & Naval Forces in Japan, the Philippines and Taiwan.
Now repeat the scenario in the ME by caging and quieting Iran.
Perhaps this is Trump's sub-conscious strategy to drain
the swamp; by dissipating the power of adversaries and
transferring the cost savings to plain people.
If so, he is indeed clairvoyant.
Just one small suggestion. Please develop amnesia/laryngitis
over the collusion/obstruction fandango any time its mentioned
and let the search for Stormy's underpants proceed unimpeded.

Technically speaking, we were never at war with North Korea.  Truman sent US troops to Korea in June 1950 in response to a UN Security Council vote.  There was never any authorization by Congress for any military action in Korea.  Truman called it a "Police Action."

People often confuse Vietnam with the term "police action," however, Congress did in fact authorize the use of military force in Vietnam in August 1964 which made Vietnam officially a war and not a "police action."  That was never true for Korea.

The fault for this constitutional failure falls on Congress.  They failed to exert their constitutional authority and allowed the President to usurp their power.  It was never put to a vote, only the congressional leaders were consulted and they gave Truman their tacit approval by doing nothing.

The Korean Conflict has been labeled a War by every source
of Military History and inflicted 170,000 casualties on the USA.

The Korean Conflict has labeled a war by those nations who fought it, except for the US.  The Korean War Service Medal was issued by South Korea, and could not even be worn by US troops, until Congress changed the law on May 8, 1954.  In reality there is no doubt it was a war, but legally in the US and constitutionally it wasn't.  It was only a "Police Action."

To legally and constitutionally be a declared war, Congress must enact a Joint Resolution  by a simply majority authorizing the President to use military force.  If that does not happen, then there is no lawful or constitutionally declared war.

I also do not want it to be construed that I am trying to diminish President Trump's accomplishment in any way.  I think it is a great thing if this 68-year police action, conflict, war, or whatever you want to call it finally comes to an end.  It would have ended 65-years ago, had it not been for Truman's failed Policy of Containment.  Where no victory is ever possible.

In truth, Trump did, in fact, end the war between the North and South, yes, they've been at war nearly 70 years, so yes, Trump did, in fact, end the war regardless of US designation, calling it the "Korean Conflict"..

Countries bombing the hell out of each other is definitely a war no matter how the politicians dress it up.

Or "Internal Conflict resolution" sounds sooo much more diplomatic, despite 136 thousand dead Americans during deliberations.
