Gas tax, bike fee fuel House Dems' transportation plan
House Democrats propose a $10 billion transportation package that would gradually raise the gasoline tax to 47.5 cents a gallon within five years.
OLYMPIA — House Democrats rolled out a nearly $10 billion transportation package Wednesday that would boost taxes on gasoline, increase car tabs and even charge a bicycle fee to raise money.
The proposal would increase the state gas tax by 10 cents over five years, eventually reaching a total of 47.5 cents per gallon. Currently, Washington state has the nation's ninth-highest gas tax.
In addition, it would create a car tab equal to 0.7 percent of a vehicle's value. A state tax on hazardous chemicals would increase by 0.3 percent, to 1 percent.
There's even a $25 sales fee on bicycles worth $500 or more that raises a total $1 million over 10 years, included for largely symbolic reasons.

Washington is like cal. If it don't move tax it. If it moves tax it some more.
My understanding is Oregon is looking into taxing you by the mile.
And for those driving those nice energy efficient hybrid cars..... Toy
A new proposal is heading toward the Indiana House and would tax hybrid vehicle owners.
Some state lawmakers say there's a necessity to create a new tax in order to pay for good roads, our sister station WTHI reports......
...This new proposal would require owners of clean energy vehicles to pay a road use tax in place of gas tax.

Oregon is also looking into that also ST.
What is sad is that a majority of the citizenry in WA state is in favor of these new taxes. Libs never cease to amaze me.
Come on folks! With gas prices climbing the economy must be flourishing right. Isn't that liberal logic 101 according to Obama.

And when they whine about the new tax we can remind them what "their" President keeps saying. We are only asking that they pay their fair share. Toy
It always amazes me, if it were the Right proposing this tax, the left would be rioting in the streets, but when a Dim sponsors it, they just fall in line bend over and wait their turn.
Libs, why do you so willingly accept this thievery?

Because they believe the other guy will pay and they somehow will not.

Now that's funny! Both libs are pumping gas, and both assume the other person is paying the taxes on gas, not them.
When will libs ever learn, they are being lied to every time? Husein promised rebates for hybrids, states promised reduced license fees, let them run in HOV lanes, only to discover the reduced rate to enter the circus, where the snacks cost three times as much as outside the tent.
It's like the solar thing, now that they thought they were getting a deal on electric rates, the PUC changed the rules and now the utilities don't have to buy the energy produced by solar.
Libs actually believe politicians, now how stupid does one have to be to trust a proven liar?
