Their stock holders selling off their shares are a bigger probelm than people deleting their accounts.

I actually saw a discussion on facebook about leaving because of this and someone mentioned going back to Myspace...

I thought it was dead, I was only half right. It appears to have gone Hollyweird, but I couldn't find anything on it listing social media pages as it used to be "the thing".

Obama and the democrats were very successful in making facebook, youtube, google and twitter and big part of their power base.  The Fairness Doctrine was not the right approach.  However, just as the Robber Barons during the Industrial Revolution had their monopolies and cartels broken up under the commerce clause of our Constitution, this Cyber Revolution has had some of the same adverse challenges for our freedoms and liberties. 

As much as I abhor government regulation, it may be time for this cyber Wild West to have some Marshaling!   The Market isn't going to be able to control this corrupt propaganda of the left and the censorship of all things sensibly Conservative.

Our 19th century capitalists bought the GOP post-Civil War, giving then the political clout to control markets and gouge as they pleased.
The wise Adam Smith grasped that commerce, being anchored in materialism. was venal by nature and as such the enemy of the fundamental values of culture/society.
His antidote was competition, allowing free markets to promote diversity.
That is the antidote to the telcom fandango, not more regulations, from which ever political assholes are in power.
Yet this is not possible given the revolving door between the DC Political Est. and K Street led by the CofC, Bus. Roundtable, NAM and all the rest of the crony corporatist cabal.
Only a transformational leader who instills fear and trembling in these frauds and hustlers would have the gravitas to break this cycle.

I never understood the appeal of Facebook. I have an account and I use it to keep in touch with family overseas. I rarely post anything and when I do it's something absurd because I don't take it seriously. I have no desire to tell people I had a sandwich for lunch or that the traffic was bad today. Why would anyone care?

I only use it to tell people what kind of bowel movement I had for the day.
