Title: Daily White House Press Briefings
Post by: Bronx on January 13, 2020, 05:47:12 AM
The liberal media want their daily White House briefing back (political theater) and they try and bring the case before Trump with a CNN opinion piece. It didn't go so well and he shuts them down in Trump style..............

13 former press secretaries urge Trump White House to hold briefings again

What they're saying: (liberal media)

"The process of preparing for regular briefings makes the government run better. The sharing of information, known as official guidance, among government officials and agencies helps ensure that an administration speaks with one voice, telling one story, however compelling it might be.

Regular briefings also force a certain discipline on government decision making. Knowing there are briefings scheduled is a powerful incentive for administration officials to complete a policy process on time. Put another way, no presidents want their briefers to say, day after day, we haven't figured that one out yet. ...

Using the powerful podiums of the State Department, Pentagon and White House is a powerful tool for keeping our allies informed and letting our enemies know we are united in our determination to defeat them both on the battlefield and in the world of public diplomacy."

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham response....

"This is groupthink at its finest. The press has unprecedented access to President Trump, yet they continue to complain because they can't grandstand on TV. They're not looking for information, they're looking for a moment. This president is unorthodox in everything he's done. He's rewritten the rules of politics. His press secretary and everyone else in the administration is reflective of that".

Stephanie Grisham summed it up exactly with her statement. Trump took away the MSM's ability to showcase their bias. He controls the stage now. The MSM cannot claim no access as Trump is always taking questions, BUT, on his terms.

I have always assumed the reason the lsm hated Trump was because he was not part of the deep state, he took away hillary's rightful place and too many dems would go to jail if he got elected. BUT, you might just hit on one of the bigger reasons.

What did he take away exactly?

I'm not mad or bothered by his decision. He answers lots of questions in front of the helicopter, which is great. I just don't think it's the most convenient, prudent, or logical place to take questions.

It's hard for him to hear, it's hard for them to hear and all the same questions seem to get asked and answered.

Just in a more impractical setting.

Once upon a time, the briefing might have been a pretty good way to keep the public informed about what was going on. but, it turned into another platform for the lsm to bash any policy the left did not agree with. And I realize this part is up to everyone's opinion but this is how I saw it and obviously so did Trump. With today's internet, the briefings are not needed to find out what is going on, Trump is very open, and I for one damn sure don't need to see another liberal grandstanding. If you look, or if anyone looks at all the stories the lsm had to recall, it is a wonder anyone gets news from them anymore.

Think back to when Trump would hold a press conference and one of CNN's turds would stand in front of the camera asking leading questions in hopes of embarrassing the President.
Trump ended all of that and (can't remember turds name) suddenly no one sees him, he is not the center of attention. This drove the LSM nuts because they would try and score points at Trump's expense, the Nation's expense all to get their face time Nationally. Trump put a bullet through that shit, he, nor we need the press any-longer, trump talks directly to the people.

The LSM essentially were told by Trump "You Are Irrelevant", and they are.

It seems you cannot see the forest for the trees.

Is it not better to get answers straight from the president than just a spokesman?

What Trump took away was a stage for the MSM to mainline their hatred of him. Now, they are just questions from a mob rather than TV face time for the nightly news.

It take me back to the old armchair talks on the radio.  No LSM can use Trump this way.  And he can cut it short as he is going some place.  He is in control not the LSM.

That's a good point I didn't think of... you never see the reporters' faces or know who's speaking.

Yes. He can be the one that the press talks to in the Press Briefing. That's a welcome change.

He can also make it so the press isn't on camera.

But at least we'd hear the questions better.

Lol. Hell, he can keep having it on the lawn, just turn the damn chopper off

See, that's the point I was making. CNN, MSNBC etc made him the news, a rising Marxist star in the LSM. Trump killed it, he blew off into obscurity, like a doctor tosses a wart he just removed.

If there is a steady flow of information and people are made aware of circumstances without the press briefings then why change it? They haven't been around for a while and our government seems to be working fine. Only reason CNN is complaining is because Jim Acosta is basically unemployed without it.

He took away their chance to make it about them or make the president look bad. When it is done on the fly they don't have the time to make a scene. They just have enough time to ask their questions. If they don't know when they will engage the president they can't plot their sideshow.

It's not on the fly, it's.just at a different setting.

I'm sure that they ask and the WH let's them know if the President will take questions beforehand. They all have his schedule

Not the last three times, and those were the only 3 times in the last 6 months. They tell reporters, stand there, the President is coming. Period.
