Often what collectivist call "subsidies" are simply tax breaks to corporations.

In this case the OP is equating the government not taking money from a corporation to that same government giving away other people's money to people who did nothing to earn it.

If there ever was a "apples to oranges" argument, this is it!

It's the same Old (Marxist) Party Line that includes demanding how we are going to pay for "Tax Cuts"  These Morons don't want to "get it".  Corporations or any other businesses don't pay any taxes; they collect taxes as part of their overhead, included in the price of goods and services.  The consumer pays the taxes as part of the price he/she pays for such goods an services.  If their is a lowering in the corporate tax rate, the collectivists call this corporate welfare.  Libreals hate tax cuts because it means the goverment is going to take less money from those who pay taxes, so they will have less money to redistribute to those the Maxists feel should have more of other people's money!

Another hit and run. Couldn't help but notice the similarity between the last two callers.

There are three mind sets, here. Dem, GOP, and Tea Party. Yes, corporate welfare, so called, is a concern of the Tea Party, but not so much a jealousy as who gets what, but the whole idea of the influence of money in decision making. I learned a few things here about corporate welfare I didn't know, but I still hold that influence is not something to be bought and sold. That applies as much to Mitch and John as it does to Hillary.

Aaahh; but the public get's mad at "OmniCorp" for raising prices, as opposed to politicians for raising taxes! People will actually call for them to raise "taxes" on Corporations.

Like most lib/progs, he throws up "social welfare" numbers that don't include Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, unemployment insurance, etc., all of which are actually social welfare redistribution programs. Loser.

Subsidies are a form of redistribution. In the case of big oil they are returned to the people through lower prices at the pump or with farms lower weekly grocery bills. I for the life of me can't understand when you try to explain that to a lib they have no concept.

They have no clue, that it was leftist programs and Dims that created the subsidies monster in the first place, in turn, a monopoly of an industry run by only a handful that can afford to deal in govt red tape, a process that takes sometimes years to finish.

An industry not just anyone can enter due to high costs via EPA fees and Govt red tape, with no guarantee of payoff.

About $59 billion is spent on traditional social welfare programs. $92 billion is spent on corporate subsidies. So, the government spent 50% more on corporate welfare than it did on food stamps and housing assistance in 2006. How can I explain to my liberal friends that it is ok for our government to give money to corporations but not to the poor. I keep losing at these arguments. I mean the government should be able to give money to corporations  but not to the poor or middle class. Subsidies and corporations go hand in hand, but giving money to the poor and middle class is a terrible idea they don't deserve it. Am I right?

Lemme guess, with a moniker like "Planetearth" you are a "greenie" and of course your mission in life is to rid the world of those evil corporations who are soooooo just polluting the planet and getting all those Govt subsidies that the "poor' and middle class should be getting.

You know, do you not that "green" companies like Solyndra who got such a big chunk of "Govt Subsidies" are lumped in with those "evil" COrporations....right....but oh, GREEN energy shouldn't  count because they are saving the planet....right....SUUUURRRREEEE They are....bunch of crooks.
