Exactly.  Seeking praise only invites the wrath of the other side.

I've never had a problem and have a lot of friends in the force.  They are great people and do a great service.  And no, none of them have gotten rich either. The median income of a Los Angeles police officer is 57,000, and that isn't a lot considering what it costs to live here.
My nephew is a detective down in Atlanta. So what. I still see them as just another group of government employees, and don't trust them. Tell you what, check the next time you see a bunch of union workers acting up, and see who they side with. If you need a clue, check out how they acted during the uproar over Scott Walkers collective bargaining changes.

Never viewed the story (and I have revisited it) as praising the cops in ANY manner.  Like most here, I saw the irony in these anti-police protestors having their bacon saved by the cops.

In fact, having participated in policing hundreds of demonstrations in NYC, I can tell you that the cops would rather that all parties go home.  The cops are always placed between opposing forces and it is always a no win situation for them.  The best they hope for is is keeping them apart which is not easy when the police are usually the smallest of the 3 groups and they are split to monitor the opposing groups.  They must stay neutral even when they are the object of the protest...hard to do when the protestors are pointedly screaming vile comments at you.

The commander at this incident will, no doubt, be questioned about his/her failure to keep the opposing groups apart....so, seeking praise is hardly what was on his/her mind after this went down.
It's not ironic. It's what they are supposed to do. Is it your opinion that the police should only serve people they like, respect or agree with?

You've made no secret of your opinions of the police.  I don't happen to share them, and your not going to change my mind.

Neither will you change mine. Unlike you, I don't particular trust anyone drawing a government paycheck; no matter how much I might currently agree with them.

Recently released statistics on violent attacks by Americans on each other. Only an ostrich could not see the hand of Obama in all of this.

http://www.amren.com/news/2015/07/new-doj-statistics-on-race-and-violent-crime/

We must bear in mind that these stats come from Obama's racist Department of Justice, who likely want to make whites look as bad as possible, still, quite revealing.

Good for the bikers who are vets AND the police. They both did their jobs.
One of every five Americans you meet has a mental illness of some sort. Many, many, of our veteran's suffer from mental illness like PTSD now also. Help if ya can. :) http://www.projectsemicolon.org/share-your-story.html

Irony has nothing to do with the fact that officers did what they are supposed to do.

It Is ironic that a group that would rather see police officers disappear had to be rescued by them.  Unlike your underlying suspicions, I did not post the article to praise the cops and the article does not either.  The NY Post could see the irony, as do I and others here.

As to your well defined position of distrust, I get it, but what you do not seem to get is that it is coloring your outlook on ANYTHING to do with police.

This story was not about praise.  In fact, if the operation had been flawless, the police officers (like offensive linemen) would not be mentioned.

You mean like this?

I closed this useless argument when it was stated that the buying selling and using of crystal meth is a victimless crime and that we are to believe he was not a drug dealer because his mother said so.

Then don't do it. I'm sure if they could get a job that paid as well, with as good a pension, the majority of them would do so. You really need to stop worshiping at the feet of the police. BTW, the "current climate" is everybody walking around with a cell phone camera, showing just what kind of people we have enforcing the law. Officer "O'Malley" , the friendly neighborhood cop, is long gone. They are pretty much no different than every other government worker you run into.

So are the mischevious lads that officer O'Malley used to keep in line with a stern look along with Mrs Bumgartner and silly old Walter, Nowadays Eddie Haskal, Wally and the Beav are replaced by gang bangers with two or three homicides under their belt.

ROTFLMAF  Dam I am sorry the police can not be a perfect as you would like them to be.  When you get your black brother to pull there head out of there ass and be perfect 100% of the time.  Then I will demand that the police do also.

I would like to see everybody cell phone camera, as proof of your BS!
I walk round with a cell phone camera and have not used it once for that.  Are there bad police, hell yes but there more bad black people then there a bad police.  Let see the black people clean up there own act.  Why are you not bitching about all the blacks killing blacks everyday?    I don't see you posting about that every time a black kills a black.   Now that's the way I see it as a half breed.

This lawless movement, painful as it is, could be good for us in the long run.
The police and military have been toying with liberalism now going on for over fifty years, maybe longer.  Roosevelt? Eisenhower? Nixon? I don't know. I do know that by the time of Nixon, it was an established pattern.  Community policing, sensitivity training, the New York Police Department, media cops, all that baloney.

One of my mentors in life was a Chicago police officer in the 1920's and 30's.

I have felt for a long time, now, the command ranks of both the military and the police have been infiltrated by leftist fairies. There can be no doubt that Congress has not been left out of the mix.

The question is, how bad is it?
