Maybe i am wrong but i am getting the feeling this country that i grew up for 63 years now isn't for me anymore. When you dial up a phone number what is the 1st thing that the recorded message says? press 1 for english--press 2 for spanish. Give me a break--my Dad didn't go over to fight in WW2 in europe so the country he fought bravely for so it could be some stupid bi-lingual country. maybe i am wrong but this election told me alot. what's the forum's opinion on my thread? thank you--i am a newbie by the way.

You will have to be more specific in what you don't like about the country. I'm assuming the phone message thing isn't really the thing you have a problem with.

The country has changed since you were a younger man. Some things for the better in my opinion, others not so much. The fact that the Spanish language is becoming more common doesn't bother me. English is spoken all around the world by many non-English countries, I don't think we should complain too much about that issue.

If you want to talk about immigration, which I think is what you also have a problem with, I'm with you on that.

Hi Redlomxof--nice to meet you. to be more specific the issue of spanish language does bother me since this is the USA not some other country. English is the language of this country and should be the only language spoken. when my grandparents came over here in the early 1900's there wasn't signs or other conviences for them. they had to learn and read english. i couldn't care less what they speak in other countrys--i live here not anywhere else.you are right in saying the country has changed since i was young and not all for the better either.the radical liberals it seems to me have taken over the country except the U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTITIVES (thank goodness for that) at least they don't control both houses or obama would have it alot easier.

Despite what you hear, most countries still suck compared to the US, and despite Obama, we are still the freest nation on earth.

Obama and his socialist agenda are a bump in the road. By 2016, scrapping his policies won't be a choice. It will be an absolute necessity. We will be seeing what would have happened if Carter won a second term, and much worse.

History is not going to be kind to Mr Obama.

Hey, Nice to meet you too.

I guess I just don't see it as a big deal. Most people who come here will gradually lose their original language after a few generations.( Obviously depending on the individual family.) We see that in many other people who have come here over the years. Spanish is just more prevalent at the moment due to the high immigration levels. If no more people people who speak Spanish were to come to this country, in 30 years Spanish will just be another language.

Liberal has had an impact on American society but I would still regard America as a fairly conservative country.

In terms of politics though, I wouldn't regard democrats and republicans as too different. They're both parties which represent the same interest groups.

Quoteat least they don't control both houses or obama would have it alot easier.

An Obama and Romney presidency wouldn't differ too much. Obama has been built up as something for the far right to hang all of America's problems on. In the same way the far left portray him as someone who is representing the common man, a real people's president etc.

Just so I can get a an idea of your politics in a nut shell, what is your opinion on most of the major economic, social and foreign policy issues. If you don't mind.

I agree, but it's a SYMPTOM of OUR deep seated problems.  Until recently I had no real problem with GW Bush.  He's joined his brother and, sorry to say, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio, who have joined those who would be soft on legalizing 20 million ILLEGALS.  I have 2 good friends from Honduras who are going through the LONG PROCESS to become LEGAL citizens.  It is a slap in the face to those of us born here as well as those who went through the process.

Someone desiring to become a citizen USED to have to prove what THEY could bring to the country.  They couldn't bring disease, and they had to prove that they wouldn't be a burden on the Taxpayer.  ALL the Bushs have betrayed the country on this issue.

Rand Paul will do the same, and so will Marco Rubio.  I don't think I can vote in 2016 for anyone who would do this to the country, but both the Republicans and the Democrats and even the Libertarians will do this to us.  It seems even a large percentage of this conservative board has no problem with legalizing 20 million new DEPENDENTS on this country!

No Red, if you what to know where Rand or Marco came out in support of Amnesty, Google it!

Rubio made it clear in his GOP Convention speech that he was all for immigration and his whole speech was about his success since being brought here.  Most that come here won't be like Rubio. To me, he is an exception.  Most of them will have to be schooled, housed, job oriented thru schooling, health cared for and food supplied thru food stamps and all of this will be financed by the taxpayer.  Where are all of the jobs they'll need to finance their stay here?  The promise of more jobs by either candidate was like putting the cart in front of the horse.  It made a little more sense in how they were going to fund some of it when Obama took from Medicare to do it.  Made sense but made NO sense to the ones he robbed.
