The price tag is in: It would cost $400 billion to remake California's health insurance marketplace and create a publicly funded universal heath care system, according to a state financial analysis released Monday.
California would have to find an additional $200 billion per year, including in new tax revenues, to create a so-called "single-payer" system, the analysis by the Senate Appropriations Committee found. The estimate assumes the state would retain the existing $200 billion in local, state and federal funding it currently receives to offset the total $400 billion price tag.
The cost analysis is seen as the biggest hurdle to creating a universal system, proposed by Sens. Ricardo Lara, D-Bell Gardens, and Toni Atkins, D-San Diego.
It remains a long-shot bid. Steep projected costs have derailed efforts over the past two decades to establish such a health care system in California. The cost is higher than the $180 billion in proposed general fund and special fund spending for the budget year beginning July 1.

Surprise. Surprise. Surprise.
I guess they will just need to raise taxes again. However, how will they fund their "Berlin Wall" to keep everyone from leaving?
It looks like the 'freeloaders' get screwed again. Let the exodus from CA begin.

Rumblings and rumors of a Silicon Valley exodus. Believe me, geographically speaking, where the weather is concerned, where it sits is nothing special.
I honestly don't see the attraction to the area other than many came from the area and owe mom and dad for letting them sponge off them for so long.
It's only a matter of time before the state implodes and if the silicon valley becomes a ghost town that will really put a dent in the CA tax base.

I'm counting on it! I actually pray to God he helps speed our demise.
If conservatives were smart they would set up a re-location fund for conservatives in CA to help them move to other states where a conservative vote matters.

Do yo realize just how ludicrous that sounds to Conservatives fighting the Marxists in Ca?

I was going to ask where was California going to put all of the new deadbeats who will be moving into California in order to get the free entitled health care, but then I remembered in California the deadbeats are the taxpayers. So if you don't mind, I would like to know what do you call those who we refer to as deadbeats?

As a liberal I know it hard for you to understand. But Conservatives done need help with re-locations funds. They work for a living and save money. It's a way of life.

"Ungrateful deadbeats", that is, anyway, that's what Moonbeam calls the producers of the state.

Don't forget all the illegals and gang bangers already moving in that direction because of the sanctuary status! So as overtaxed Business move out more freeloaders will move in! Looks like really sound policy to me!!
Did they factor in the fact it's becoming a sanctuary state?

What victories have they achieved?

Look at NY State, NY city has the state locked up as socialist, should the States Conservatives bail on the state and let the Marxists have it?
Las Vegas Marxists own Nevada, Should all Conservatives bail and let the Commies have it as well? Same for Oregon, and Washington, the Marxists have the big cities in the state, but geographically, Conservatives own the State.
Ca is no different, Conservatives outnumber the Marxists, but the DNC Gerrymandered the voting districts to seize power.
If Conservatives simply fold and leave these states to the Marxists, do you have even the foggiest of clues as what would happen to the Presidential election and the Electoral College?
I don't even know why I entertain your lunacy. Do you even have any critical thinking skills, or are you one of those that never could spot Waldo in the crowd?
