Decaffeinated Coffee Party Convention Fizzles Out to Almost No Media Acclaim

Remember all the media hoopla earlier this year surrounding the birth of the liberal alternative to the Tea Party called the Coffee Party which was founded by former Obama political operative, Annabel Park? Well, despite all the promotion of the Coffee Party by the MSM, it has pretty much fizzled out. The extent of its slide into complete insignificance can be measured by the fact that its national convention in Louisville, KY this past weekend registered almost no media coverage. Perhaps even the MSM was embarrassed by the Coffee Party's current obscurity to the extent that its lasting legacy might well be the performance at their convention of the lamest rap song in history.

What little coverage the supposedly 350 people attending the Coffee Party convention received seems to have been pretty much limited to local media such as the Louisville Courier whose article could do little to hide the navel-gazing aspects of this "movement" moving nowhere:

The Coffee Party USA — which was founded on Facebook and is holding its first national convention in Louisville this weekend — bills itself as a more thoughtful and reasoned alternative to the tea party.

Saturday night the organization held a panel discussion, part of its three-day "Restoring American Democracy" convention, that included bloggers, college professors and communications strategists talking about what they can do to make politics more inclusive. They also discussed how to draw more disenfranchised voters back into the democratic process.

Unlike the coffee party, the tea party wasn't planned. It's a spontaneous expression of values and vision and that's why it's sustainable. The tea party is not contrived. The tea party is real. And that's something the left still does not understand.
If you believe big government is the solution then you are a liberal. If you believe big government is the problem then you are a conservative.

I think it is so funny how they took it seriously...

I think one of the smartest moves that the Tea Party made was to not have a convention so that they could focus on being a movement instead of an actual Party (even though "Party is in their name).  Plus aren't there 50 something different Tea Parties.  It's a loosely knit organization, if it's knit at all.

The dems just don't get that grass roots thingy.

Dan

There are more than 50 tea party groups. Heck there are at least 8 I know about in Louisiana alone. And no, they aren't a party at this time. But if the Republicans go back to their free spending, big government ways of the past then I predict they will peal off and start a third party based upon fiscal and judicial conservatism.
If you believe big government is the solution then you are a liberal. If you believe big government is the problem then you are a conservative.

Everything liberal fizzles...Al Gore Radio was supposed to spank Rush Limbaugh, umm what happened there, Air America Al Frankensteins liberal answer to spank rush and hannity....isnt the list endless of liberal failures ?

Dan

Throw in the declining circulation newspapers across the country and abysmal ratings for network news, CNN and msnbc.
If you believe big government is the solution then you are a liberal. If you believe big government is the problem then you are a conservative.

There is a very good reason it failed, it is a mirror image of the Dim party, a party heading into obscurity for the next few years.
They will be like the yapping dog 5 houses down, it can be irritating, but if you close the windows, you'll never hear it.

Yeah, there's an unavoidable resemblance to the left edge of the Democratic party but I think the Coffee Party also failed because it's just too precious. It's such an obvious play on the Tea Party movement that it'd be more appropriate as a skit on Saturday Night Live then as a real, political entity. So people who might be supportive of the Coffee Party's ideas don't have any need to participate and those who participate run the danger of looking ridiculous.

I think you hit on the reality of it's failure, anyone that followed them knew they would be marked as a sheep, not unlike many of the well intentioned libs that believed in Hussein, they too now look like sheep and are not going to make the same mistake twice.
Fool me once analogy comes to mind.

How dare they take the positive name "coffee" and besmirch it in such a vile manor.  I may never look at my cup-o-joe the same again.   :-\ :-\
I pray, not wish because I have a God not a Genie.

Thanks a lot!  I've got to have my coffee in the morning, and a nice hot cup on a cold winter night, too.  One of life's little pleasures.

Now you go and ruin it for me by identifying the lefty moonbats with "coffee"!  Is nothing sacred?   >:(
