The White House communications director, Mike Dubke, has resigned.

QuoteHis exit comes as the White House is weighing broader staff changes to help stanch the damage from deepening crises surrounding his associates' alleged ties to Russia.

Fresh off a nine-day foreign trip, Trump is being forced to confront an investigation into potential collusion between his allies and the Russian government's alleged election meddling that is now led by former FBI Director Robert Mueller.

Trump made it clear the probe is top of mind during a string of tweets Tuesday morning.

"Russian officials must be laughing at the U.S. & how a lame excuse for why the Dems lost the election has taken over the Fake News," the president wrote.

Dubke, a veteran Republican operative, was hired in February to help restructure a White House communications shop that struggled to deal with a number of controversies that have consumed Trump's presidency.

He could have simply had enough of the BS from a media gone completely berserk because a President dared tell the public the truth about the media. Or, he could have been among the leakers. There will be more, found and questioned and fired. Adios. Maybe you could get a job in journalism.

As the rest of Washington chases its tail over who leaked what to whom and how bad, let us return to the upcoming vacancy created by Mike Dubke (no doubt willing to parkour over the WH fence if Trump didn't let him free).

Here's a Buzzfeed story with some hilarious statements on why people don't want to take the job.

Quote"Hell no!" said one Republican — one of the most common type of responses BuzzFeed News got from operatives. "That would be career suicide."

Others brought a mix of dark humor.

"That's like asking someone who just witnessed a horrific bungee jumping accident whether they would like to go next," one Republican source responded in a text message.

"It would be only a few months on the job before tapping out the 'I want to spend more time with family' email," another said.

One operative whose spouse works in the Trump administration dissolved into laughter upon being asked if they would want the role.

"Sorry, I'm sorry," the source said between stifled laughter. "Oh, you're being serious? Oh my god, I'm crying of laughter, why would anyone in their right mind want to be his communications director?"
