Clay Aiken for Congress - "Open Door" Campaign Announcement

Clay Aiken, humanitarian and 2003 American Idol runner-up, has announced his candidacy for Congress in the 2nd Congressional District of North Carolina.

Here is the 2nd District, for reference:



The District has a PVI of R+11.

So, why should we care. Is there some importance attached to that fact?

Well, it's good news for the GOP if the best candidate the Dems can put up in that race is a pop singer. If Aiken were to somehow get the nomination, that race would become fascinating.

Yes, but Aiken doesn't seem to be of the same caliber as Reagan. At least, not from what I have thus far seen.

What party is he, or is he running as an independent? Since he was talking about all the wonderful things he did with NGO's I'd guess RINO at best, Dimocrap at worse.
